"Yeah, probably. They have all this fancy food but I would just love to have a burger right now." Overflow liked his food simplistic, without all the extravagant names and bursting with flavour. Even so, he would happily eat whatever was in front of him.

After sighing he turned to Crashed Wave. "Oh thank god. At least now I don't feel obliged to dance too. I don't know how to either." When he first walked over to him, that was his pathetic attempt of dancing. Subtle yet he still felt stupid doing it.

He took a deep breath and composed himself. Usually, he could hold it off until a more convenient time. The lack of control wasn't something he liked to show in public. Not to mention, someone could get hurt. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," he lied. Changing the subject, he turned the conversation back to him. "So where are you from then?"

Crashed Wave had to agree that burgers would have been way better. Granted that would have been quite the sight at something fancy like this. Just people all dressed up and eating burgers.

Well at least he wasn't the only one at the Ball who didn't dance. They weren't exactly friends, and didn't even know who each other was, but at least they could be sort of allies in that. It was weirdly comforting, knowing he wasn't the only one. His friends were never going to let him live it down if he told them something like that

Crashed Wave watched as Overload took his breath and waited for a moment to hear his reply. He knew all too well that being "fine" almost never meant you actually were. He squinted and it was probably clear he didn't believe him, but didn't push things any further- none of his business anyway. Where was he from though. That could have been Overload trying to figure out who he was but honestly? Fuck it, if he could guess just based on that then whatever. "I'm from Canada. What about you?"

Overflow knew that he didn't quite believe him but he appreciated him not pushing it any further. It would have embarrassed him. "Oh, nice. If you couldn't tell by the accent, I'm from England," he replied. It was only polite if he answered, considering Crashed wave had answered his question. He didn't really mind about the anonymity of the event, he just wanted to get to meet people. After being alone for so long, it was nice to be able to have a normal conversation with another person.

He turned to the table and started to pour himself a drink of something. He wasn't entirely sure what it was but surely it wouldn't hurt to try. "Can I get you one?" he asked, watching as he filled a glass carefully. "I have no idea what it is."

The accent was noticeable but on the island that could have meant anything. At least he knew now that he was from the regular world. Which didn't really mean a whole lot, come to think of it. "I've never been there. Heard it was kinda of rainy and stuff. Did you like it there?" Rain didn't bother him. On the contrary he actually liked being out in the rain sometimes.

Crashed Wave looked at the... whatever it was. "Sure, why not? Can't be poison, though I bet it's not alcoholic," he said as he thought back to the "graduation party" where even the alcohol changed itself when an underage person picked it up. They were serious about keeping underage kids from drinking at these things. "Too bad too, I bet this would be a lot more fun."

"Yeah, it rains an awful lot. The rain doesn't bother me, though." Although it was the place he grew up, it was a place that was burdened by many bad memories. In ways, he was glad to see the back of it. Since coming to the island, it never appealed to him to go back. After all, there was nothing left for him there anyway. "It was nice enough," Overflow replied, not going into detail.

"Great," he exclaimed filling a glass for him. Overflow had never actually had alcohol before but that wasn't something he would admit to the guy he had just met. He didn't want to seem uncool or anything. "Yeah, it won't be alcohol, I'm guessing." Handing the now filled glass over, he raised his own saying: "Cheers," before sipping down some of it.

He hadn't shared a lot of details and that might have been something to notice but Crashed Wave either didn't or pretended he hadn't. There were plenty of people with things they didn't want to talk about in their past and he knew that. A lot of people didn't have somewhere else to go to.

Crashed Wave took the glass and sniffed it. It definitely wasn't alcoholic. Actually it was some sort of sparkling juice cocktail thing. Weird as hell. "Yeah, cheers." He took more of a swig than a sip but it wasn't like he was pretending to have much of a refined set of manners. Looking back down at the glass he snorted. "Well, it's weird but at least it doesn't taste terrible."

He looked over to make sure Overflow wasn't like choking on the weird drink or anything. "Guess this is my home now anyway. I only have one reason to go back and that's just a visit and not any time soon for sure," he said as he balled his free hand into a fist unconsciously. His eyes showed a gleam of determination even through the mask before he relaxed again.

"Yes, yes! A knight. You'll protect me and we can fight together." In the middle of their dance, Swallowtail broke off to kick the air gracefully, careful to avoid the other dancers. Then they invited Princess Smolder to dance with them again.

Then, Swallowtail looked down bashfully, before returning their gaze back up to the princess. "Um... if you ever want to... we can fight monsters together. After this. We can play and you'll see monsters and we can fight together and it'll be fun. I promise you won't get hurt." They were very much aware of how people saw their powers. How they thought Swallowtail just had too active of an imagination. But playing monsters and knights sounded exciting and was real, if people just believed in their powers.

"Home state?" the veiled man repeated with a tilt of the head. "You must be from the United States, then, yes? I have actually never been off the island before." He was a bit wistful; there were simply so many opportunities to study different fashions that he was missing out on by staying rooted to Manta Carlos. "I don't believe I'll be leaving any time soon, either. I trust my assistants but neither are particularly good with people," he confided. "At the very least, both know to appreciate a good book when they find one."

"Aww. I was hoping for some cool secret robot things." She grumbled again, disappointed, crossing her arms.

"So you're just here to mingle? Well, I guess that makes you like everyone else here." Of course, Evie had just come here to do crimes and cause trouble, but she decided not to mention that. "Why's that? Do robots get lonely as well or something?"

She leaned her body to the side again, lowering her head so that it was eye level with Sasha's, being held in her arms.

“Uncertain. Variations between operating systems may affect emotional stimuli. Loneliness is necessary for a security droid, so I have never felt the need to be with others. However, I was told as an exchange student from Satellite academy, I must make a favorable impression on the inhabitants of Manta Carlos and Earth as a whole.” Sasha explained, looking at the girl in front of her.

“I was informed that this event was a prime opportunity to introduce myself. As such I attended.” she stated. She saw little reason to go beyond her initial purpose, security, however orders from a superior were not to be ignored.
