When she got up from her little curtsey and actually got a look at who she bumped into, she realized…she totally ran into a kid. And nearly yelled profanities at a kid. Fantastic. At least he didn’t get devoured by her massive skirt.

“O-oh, gosh, it sure is!” she responded when the young boy started making conversation. She couldn’t just piss off and leave like a rude bitch now. So she kept up her high, sing-songy voice and continued to act like a Disney Princess.

“I’ve never been to anything like it before!” she then added with a giggle.

Gareth looked around the ball. There was the food, where Fatima seemed to be looking. There was the dance floor which…right, this was a party with dancing, and he couldn’t dance. Great. He really hadn’t thought this through. Couldn’t even have a dance with his date.

And now he felt like there was a silence between the two that was going just a bit too long. He cleared his throat.

“Ahh…wanna check out the food table?” he asked, trying to start conversation. He didn’t want to think about the dancing, and the food was the only other obvious thing he could see, so…

He looked up at his date. His very, very tall date. God, she was so tall. He felt so small stuck in his chair. Maybe this was a bad idea. Fatima could do better than him.

But he tried to swallow those thoughts down, and smiled at her from under the mask.

Oh wait, she wouldn't be able to see his expression with his mask on anyway. Good, he could be a nervous wreck anyway. Maybe wearing the mask was a good idea after all.

The child scampered up a tree and Shujinkō dropped the gun facade. How stupid and negligent of him. He didn't have time to call out though, as the girl bolted. Dammit.

Shujinkō ran after her with a start, stopping when he saw her fall. His instincts as a bodyguard we're overpowered by his sense of worry for others.

Dropping to a knee by her side, he quickly took her wrist to check her pulse. It was sluggish and weak.
"Miss, are you alright? Should I call for an ambulance?"

Shujinkō realized that his mask might have startled her, so he removed it. That was fine, it caused the edges of his glasses to fog up anyway. He just hoped that his power didn't kick in without it. He briefly glanced up at Eek, making sure the child was still there.

"My name is Shujinkō Takeda. I am sorry for startling you."

Some sort of vigilante, maybe? He had heard of people trying to be heroes on the island so maybe she was one of them or maybe it was a completely different matter. "You get a lot of action then," he said, only realising that could have another meaning once he had let it out.

Smiling, he replied: "You're doing great. This isn't my usual scene either." She did, however, stick out from the crowd, maybe not in the best way. Everyone else dressed up in formalwear whilst she looked rather casual. He laughed with her, not judging her choice of clothing. Sometimes it was good to be unique and not conform to normalities but he would not be the one to dress differently at an event. He admired the confidence. "Hey, I'm just going to get another drink. Would you like anything?" he asked before making his way through the crowd.

Diane smiled lightly as the blush on her visible cheek brightened before he made them move through the crowd around them, "Well, I didn't check the buffet much..." She said as she removed her arms from around his neck, walking closely behind him as they made it to the table, giving a quick look around she gave a little sigh seeing nothing she wanted, the punch was too sweet and in general there wasn't anything nice that she would have wanted, "So, you know a bit about me, can I at least know a bit about you?" She said hoping he would at least give her a clue.

She quickly looked around once again as she saw the person looking at her, quickly turning away, she noticed the small glint on his chest before she sighed, "Cops are stupid..." She said under her breath before turning back towards this new friend of hers.

Corvo slipped into the ballroom, ah this brought back memories. Balls were once common for him, to move about the nobles and the wealthy, though back then he did it when searching for a target for the king. He'd left assassin work behind long ago, but the skills he'd learned from it were still extremely useful. He moved through the halls, his sharp intelligent eyes looking over everything, a calm charming smile on his face.

He found his way to the table and got himself a drink, sipping it calmly as the party continued around. His senses took everything in, an old instinctual reflex brought on by his old profession. He'd missed balls like this, far more than he'd realized, as a pirate he hadn't gotten to see such elegant events, now he was here, enjoying the music and drinks.

Finishing said drink, he set the empty glass down and quickly looked about. His eyes fell upon a young woman, or at least who appeared to be young, he was hardly the only immortal here. Stepping over to her, he gave a small bow, "good evening," he said, his accent exotic. @Wizard Pikachu

Elisa Darthwell
———————————————————————————————————————————————-
Elisa had only recently walked away from the bar and was moving around, trying as hard as she could to avoid her friend she dragged here, seeing as she was for once having fun not killing people. She had been standing speaking of someone before they left, making moves she turned around to stand face to face with a man, "A fine evening indeed, though I would criticise the decorations," She said a smirk playing on her lips as her eyes still beamed red, she outstretched a white-gloved hand, "Elisa, Elisa Darthwell," She said the smirk still on her lips, "Pleasure to meet you Mr....?" She said as her eyes stared into his.

" I reckon, you have lived much longer than a normal human?" She queried, lifting her chin a bit. Even with the thick accent, the pitch of her voice plus a petite frame hinted at the girl being somewhere in the middle of her teenage years. " Well, I don't blame you, being stuck alone probably sucked." She added, strange word choice, but still maintaining the accent.

The girl was careful not to stray too far while dancing, sometimes compensating by taking twice as many steps rather than just one stride. Though she made no comment about it, she still nodded in regards to how hard it was to find a decent place to practice magic.

Up until that painfully cheesy line dropped, her modest smile mostly stayed intact while they danced. She struggled, her smile became tight lipped as she tried to hold in her laughter. She yanked back one of her hands to cover her mouth. Unlike him, her accent did not break, but her laughter sure did. The combination of the cheesy line and sudden break in character sent her into muffled hysterics. " Yeah, what's so wrong with being cheesy?" She grinned, placing her hand back on his shoulder.

" Same here, sometimes laughter is the best medicine," she muttered with her eyes cast down briefly, " sometimes the only thing you can do is just laugh. " Her mask fixed back towards him, for the night those memories were not hers. " Immortal being or not, that makes us not too different from each other, yes?".

Theron entered the ballroom, wearing a simple black tux and matching mask. He looked nice, handsome even, his green eyes had a reptilian hint to them. In truth he wasn't a big party goer, it usually wasn't something he'd go to, but he decided to change that up a bit. The young dragon wasn't alone, no he was accompanied by a young woman.

Turning to her, he smiled a bit, a little nervous about tonight, "thank you for coming." Offering her arm to hold onto, he headed toward the food and drink, "I haven't danced much, but it seemed like it'd be fun." He wanted to make sure she had a good time, she was still new to the island. @Fudge

He could tell that something about this woman seemed to be forced. Many people here were hiding something, of course, whether it be personality, powers, or backstory, but he could usually tell when someone was. Though ‘what’ and ‘why’ were more difficult questions.

Hiding something or not, that wasn’t his business. For now, he’d ignore it and just be polite.

Quite a lot of people here”, he said. “Though this isn’t particularly my interest. I came here to see what everyone was doing. It’s quite interesting”, he continued.

So, what brings you here?”, he asked, glancing at her up and down. It was quite a dress, after all. Many people here had fancy dresses and detailed masks, while here he was standing, with just a handmade mask and decent suit. Of course, it was actually quite good for a child.

Huddling in the tree, waiting for the screaming and the shooting, Eek didn't notice the man remove his hand from his pocket without a gun. But after a moment he dared to look down from the tree just in time to see his new friend fall.

Since he hadn't seen the older girl fall, at first he thought she'd been shot instead of him, even though he hadn't actually heard anything. This was still enough to start the 5-year-old crying. But even though he was terrified, he couldn't stay up in the tree if someone else was hurt.

Scampering back down, Eek wasn't sure what he was actually planning on doing. He wasn't bulletproof and probably not strong enough to lift the girl either. Maybe he could scare the mean man away. People who shot him usually said he was scary, maybe for once, that could be a good thing. Except he really didn't know how to to do that, so he kind of just ran toward the stranger waving his arms and squeaking.

The little fae skidded to a stop when he saw the man kneel next to the girl and ask if she was alright. Now he was even more confused. He didn't know what an ambulance was, but the man was apologizing.

"Did you not shotted her?"
