38 looked at Alessandra quizzically. "My powers? Oh right. That." He looked down at his left hand and noticed his fingers were sharpend blades. 38 sighed and the fingers reverted back to their normal form. "I don't know if one can do anything. I was given these out of horrible tests that forced my body to evolve. Regeneration to compensate for lost body parts. Body and cell manipulation to avoid pain. I think it is irreversible. The scientists sure thought so."

Alessandra walked over to a tree, pausing while putting a hand on it. Her back to Zach she glanced up and thought-demanded- to know the answer of why people even dared to think they had any right to torture a human to becoming less of himself and more on what he was not meant to be. She was so angry she could barely stand it. She walked back over to him.

"That is true. But maybe we can figure out if there a way to keep Eden from coming out. There's lots of people on this island there has to be someone who can...I...I don't know, I haven't the faintest idea."

She sat on her knees again and let her head fall into her hands. She was so overwhelmed with anger and sadness that her poor dear friend, Zach, had to be put through such torture to begin with. And now, he probably didn't trust himself and what he said earlier... She sighed audibly. Life could be a wreck, couldn't it?

"I don't know what to do. I can't claim to know how to solve the world's problems, let alone yours. I'm not a very helpful friend."

She pulled her head out of her hands. She didn't want her disappointment in herself to mistaken for self pity. For a person who served all their life, failing to succeed was a grave circumstance indeed. She felt so helpless and pathetic, it bothered her. It bothered her very much.

38 frowned and but his hands on Alessandra's shoulders. "Don't be sad. Those who try to play god. The ones that try to help those who can't be helped. The ones that create things that shouldn't be created. Those are the ones that are punished by the real gods. You may no be able to help but that's fine. It is life. There are things in this universe that can't be fixed. Trying to only leads to punishment. It is how the world works. But you can watch it to the end. You can support the abominations the wannabe gods created. These are the very first words Eden said to me. For a pyscopath he knows what to say to someone who doesn't deserve sadness or pain. You may not be able to cure me. But you can support me to the end."

Alessandra had a hard time looking Zach in the eyes. She sure had a rude awakening about evil coming to this island. She had known about it before, but now she felt like she had experienced it herself. She tried to casually look into his eyes, her mind fluttering around and trying to pay attention. She let out a deep breath she had been holding and spoke.

"Yes, of course, I'll always support you. I can't promise to always be here in body but I will be in mind."

She stood still not exactly sure what to do. Zach was pretty much her first friend ever, for her siblings and dance people were the only ones she had interacted with. He had so much going up against him and she felt that just supporting his wasn't enough. There had to be something.

"Well, we were going to stargaze. It's a little later but I still want to if you do."

She glanced up, seeing that the stars were still there. The constellations, they remained there and had been there the whole time. She took comfort in that. She was not sure why but she did. She was always particularly fond of consistent things. That brought peace of mind to her. Of course, it all depended upon what it was but tonight she found the night sky to be a remedy she needed.

38 smiled softly as he heard she would support him. He laughed a little bit when she brought up stargazing. "Of course. We can still stargaze. I never told you my favorite constellation did I? Well to be honest I love them all. They gave me hope that one day I could join them in the sky. One day I would be free of everything. A foolish dream but it always gave me hope of a better place. Each one has a story to tell. The hunter Orion, the serpent Hydra, the monster Cetus, the twins Gemini, each have a story to tell." 38 looked up and watched the stars. He saw the figures of each constellation, retelling each story in his mind.

Tess gave the best smile she could and sat on the ground. She crossed he legs over each other and made sure her skirt was fixed. She tried to look up at the sky and enjoy it but now her evening wasn't the same. She listened to what he had to say and couldn't help but wonder if they were destined to have a depressing friendship.

"I'm glad they have some kind of meaning to you. Actually, I'm not really feeling the stargazing anymore. I'm a little unsettled buy please don't worry about it."

She stood up and dusted off her skirt. She understood what Zach said when he talked about Eden stealing his joy. Was she a bad friend now that she did not want to star gaze? She knew true friends stuck together and she didn't want to leave him, she just didn't want to stare at the stars. It gave her too much time to think.

"It's not that I want to leave, I just don't really want to stargaze anymore. Maybe we could do something else. Or if you want to still gaze I can go."

Alessandra had never been more confused in her life. How one earth was she going to be able to do this all? Next time Eden came out she was sure he would not be the same way.

38 perked his head up for a moment. "Oh your leaving? I guess I can join you to where your going. I just finished remembering the story of Orion and Scorpious. I love that it gives some kind of explanation as to why you can't seem them both to the sky. Even now they tell stories. They watch over us and protect us. I love that about the stars. So anyway where did you want to go? I'll pretty much go anywhere. And don't worry about Eden, that was a one time thing. He only comes out in certain circumstances and even then he normally doesn't stay long. I remember promising you I would protect you. Well I'm keeping my promise. No one will hurt you. Not even him."

Alessandra was about to restate that they didn't have to leave but Zach starting talking...a lot. She listened to him talk about the constellations and Tess almost told him that a pattern of stars in the skies weren't going to fix their problems. Tess snap out of it, you're being rude and ridiculous. Yes, what had gotten into her? When he finished speaking she answered him.

"Oh, I don't have anywhere specific in mind, I just find that walking helps me out when I'm feeling...restless. Yes, that's how I'm feeling. Oh, and you do have the water you brought along, right?"

She felt more like herself again, snapping out of her apathetic state. She turned to face Zach, studying his face and tugging on a long strand of hair. She needed to work on this friendship thing. And work on it she would.

38 casually picked up a bottle of water and looked at it. He then moved his gaze to her. "Yea. I have about....four more bottles. Why? Did you want some?" He extended the bottom of one of the bottles to Alessandra just incase she wanted it. He didn't remember that the water was what caused Eden at all so he didn't really care if his friend drank it. "Yes walking can calm the mind. I can understand why you would want to."

Tess shrugged and took the bottle. She could use some hydration and she loved water a lot. Except for swimming in it. But drinking it was the best.

"Thanks" was all she said. She opened the bottle and took a long sip. She furrowed her eyebrows and smelled it before taking a tiny sip.

"Tastes different in an interesting sort of way. Hmm, must be a special brand." She took a big gulp until she had drank about a fourth of it. She placed the cap back on and began walking. She felt very strange, a little dazed, she took took a step forward and tumbled to the right, smacking right into a tree.

"Oh dear, I feel a little strange. I just ran into a tree if you didn't notice. I think I want some more water."

Pushing off the tree she uncapped it and took another gulp, leaving the bottle half full. She suddenly felt very strange on the inside. She turned to look at Zach, very confused. Blinking a a few times, she moved a step closer.

"Huh, how did I never notice..." Her words trailed off as she tried to grasp these feelings.

((Well, since Eden came out I figured it might as well be Tess' turn ))
