"Alright, Miss Cross," Aiden said, or rather, he shouted.

The wind was howling and his clothes, a pair of khakis, a sweater and a dress shirt, were soaked to the brim. He reached down and linked one arm under hers, supporting her and helping shift the weight off her injured leg.

"I am sorry for getting so physical here, but we need to get you off this island," he said. He tried to let her have as much freedom and independence as he could, but Aiden was firm and directive. He helped her hobble towards the beach, back towards the waves, where a small boat was waiting for them. He looked at the waves, at the chopping sea, and then sighed.

"Forgive me for this, Miss Cross," he said. he reached down and swooped her up into his arms, carrying her as though she was his bride over the threshold of the sea and into the waves. He set her down onto the bench and then pushed it further into the waves, which were coming over the sides and raining down on them.

He shouted something incoherent to the man sitting by the motor and then the boat was off and Aiden swung over the side. There was a larger boat about a mile away from the shore but, due to the storm, travel was rough. The boat fought against the waves but the water was relentless and pounded at it. Aiden was moving from one end to the other, assisting the motorist with the navigation, shouting over the waves and rush of the wind and the sting of icy salt water.

The boat scraped against something and Aiden cursed, shouting about rocks, but then, the boat tilted further, and further and then it became clear that something was pushing at it.

For a brief moment, he surfaced in a flash of teeth. His long neck stretched and two hooves on dark, dripping legs came over the edge.

Lochlann snatched Adelene's arm in her teeth and pulled her over the edge of the boat and back into the ocean.

Even now, his teeth didn't pierce her skin, but his grip was hard enough to bruise. His eyes were dark and inhuman as he pulled her under.

Everything was going fine, and Addy was doing a good job keeping up with Dr. Hart as they headed to the shore.

Until they reached the shore. And Addy saw the huge waves beyond the small boat, and she could feel it again, being thrown by the water here and there and against huge rocks, and she gasped as she felt like water was getting into her throat again.

She didn't register immediately that Aiden had picked her up, but she did realize too soon that they were getting on the boat, and the boat was going to sail despite the waves.

Adelene shook terribly, and despite her inner voice telling her to calm down, genuine fear flashed in her face as she held really tightly on one side of the boat. It was rocking and she couldn't help but think that they were going to crash into rocks again.

And then the boat began to tip over. Aiden, or the man controlling the motor, wouldn't hear it, but Addy whimpered as she shut her eyes, frozen in place by fear that she was going to drown.

Something grabbed her arm painfully and suddenly, the feeling of water around her became so real. She opened her eyes, but she couldn't see a thing, and the salty water began to sting her eyes. She realized she couldn't breathe, and there was a dark form dragging her deeper into the sea.

She knew it was Lochlann. But it didn't matter anymore in her panicked state, because she was hurting all over, her injured leg was in so much pain she'd cry if only she could, she couldn't breathe, and she thought she was going to die.

She squirmed from the teeth on her arms, and with that stubborn act, she felt them cut her skin. But she tried with all her remaining strength to pull herself away from him. Despite her thoughts, despite the repeated imgonnadieimgonnadieimgonnadie panicked chant in her head, she willed herself to summon a rod in her free hand. It was iron. And she hit Lochlann with it as hard as she could, before letting it go and summoning one last thing.

A gun.

Using her powers while in this weak state was going to drain her energy, but she still cocked the revolver and aimed it at his... his...

She couldn't see. She wasn't going to fire, she didn't want to, but as her consciousness began to fade, so did her control over her body. Her finger on the trigger twitched, and then she felt a strong jolt, just before her eyes closed and her lungs gave up holding itself and began to give in to the water rushing within her system.
