I don't care what you think as long as it's about me

Lochlann didn't want to explain any further on the human meat eating shop. It made him nervous to think about it for too long, especially the part that revolted him the most: the shop had smelled really, really good.

He'd avoided really eating for two days after that.

Lochlann was okay at child's pose. He struggled a little bit at first at Cobra, but when he opened up his chest and tilted his head back, he found his body moved easier.

Lochlann was a little embarrassed when they got to downward dog because he watched her moved first, and he was looking at her butt the entire time, and thinking of another position that had dog in the title.

He was working very, very hard to keep his eyes level and his breathing even, but otherwise, this wasn't so bad.

He might actually be enjoying this.

"I think okay," he said. "Sometimes, I don't feel what I'm supposed to be stretching, but I definitely feel it on this one."

Since he was on his hands and feet, his dark hair fell over his eyes and his shirt had ridden up a bit, exposing part of his back and sides. His amulet was over his head and touching the floor; he was peering at her from beyond the chain with a bemused expression on his face.

He was one more pose away from taking his shirt off. He was surprised how hot he was getting from just stretching. The bandages on his hand felt slick.

"Well, you're trying too hard to relax." She giggled. "Don't try to think about it so much, just listen to me." Before Lochlann, she hadn't known it was possible to try too hard to relax. "I could do this for hours," she sighed on an exhale, "But I promise I won't make you," she added, slightly amused by his expression. "Just a one more and we can have our coffee."

She eyed him under the guise of checking his posture, her eyes drawn to the exposed inch of skin where his shirt lifted and fell. His hair falling over his face and his necklace dropping to the floor seemed more natural then anything else she'd seen him do this far. Her own ponytail pooled in the floor under her, her tank top, however, was snug enough that it stayed firmly in place. His bandaged hand didn't do unnoticed and she wondered why she had missed it earlier, unless he'd been deliberately hiding it.

She held them in Downward Dog for a few moments, breathing deeply, and then Cat walked her hands back to her feet and slowly stood into a mountain pose, feet together, body straight, arms straight up. They breathed evenly, her a little loudly so he could follow her flow.

Finally, Cat let her arms down slowly. Her body feeling limber and relaxed. "You did good," she smiled, stepping off of the yoga mat and bending to roll it back up. "Did you like it?" She dropped the mat into the basket and moved towards the love seat. She sat and tucked her legs under her, curled into the corner comfortably.

By trying hard to not think about trying hard to relax, Lochlann somehow tried twice as hard as he was before. He ended up holding his breath, and then realizing it and gasping, then stifling a laugh as they stood back up. He slipped his amulet back into his shirt and enjoyed mountain pose. He followed her breathing and was surprised to realize that his back didn't hurt.

It's not that Lochlann ever consciously thought of his back hurting, but it was something he didn't notice until the absence of tension in his back and shoulders was gone. It was loosened.

"Oh," he tilted his head to the side. Then, he realized she'd complimented him, and he grinned. "Thank you."

He followed her lead and rolled up the mat, then hesitated, unsure if he should join her on the couch. It seemed rude not to, but it seemed awkward to stand away. He settled for grabbing his coffee and sinking onto the floor next to her, his shoulder up against her knee.

“That was fun,” he said. He tilted his head back and looked up at her.

“Thank you for showing me,” he said. “I feel um…”

He laughed. He wasn't sure why.

“Looser. My shoulders feel better, and so does my leg," he said. Lochlann had a bad habit of slouching. "How did you start with yoga? was this for gymnastics?"

His comical attempt at breathing exercise had Caitlin grinning. She mastered the Cheshire smile before standing up though.

Cat watched him move his head around, seemingly evaluating his body, after they finished and she tried but failed to smother another smile. She watched him roll the may and put it in the basket as she had done. When he moved over to join her by her tiny common space she was surprised that he chose to settle in the floor instead of the chair or beside her. But then his shoulder brushed her knee and she felt like her leg was humming with electricity from his proximity.

He told his head back to look at her and said that yoga had been fun. Please, she didn't try to stop her hand from reaching out and running through his hair, fiber combing it back off of his face.

"I'm glad you liked it. Maybe you should start practicing it more. It doesn't have to be tiring up into a pretzel, although as you do it more and more you get the too. I'm glad it loosened you up some. You look like you're carrying the world on your shoulders sometimes." She combed her fingers through his hair still and it suddenly felt like too intimate a gesture and she stopped, wrapping her hands around her coffee.

"No, I started doing yoga when I was a toddler. My mom used to do it every morning and I copied her. Eventually I took it up on my own when I g out to be about 7. It was yoga that got me into gymnastics. I was so limber and had great balance and control that my dad suggested it,"

Cat's fingers brushed into his hair and Lochlann turned to putty. His eyes drooped and the breathing that he'd had trouble with before now came easy. He was fixated on the sensation of her fingers and he admired that they felt strong, which was a weird thought to have about fingers, but Lochlann imagined they must be from the painting, yoga, and writing.

"Maybe I will try it some more," Lochlann said. He liked this idea of control over his body. He felt like he had so little of it lately that this idea that there was something he could do appealed to him.

"I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready to be a pretzel," he laughed. "But this wasn't so bad. It reminds me a little bit of how it feels after a really good swim. A non horsey swim."

He added the last part on to demonstrate that his mind had not yet gone to a horsey thought, even though he could remember the curve of her butt when she bent over very clearly when he thought about yoga now.

Her fingers left his hair and returned to her coffee, and Lochlann took the opportunity to pick up his own to steal a sip. He took in what she told him with surprise.

"Since you were a toddler?" Lochlann said. "Wow."

So her dad had suggested gymnastics after her mom taught her yoga. He stored these details in his mind. He never got to meet anyone's parents under pleasant circumstances, but her parents sounded very much like pleasant people.

He twirled the chain of his amulet around his finger for a moment.

"So you can turn yourself into a pretzel then?" he asked. "What is the hardest thing to do in yoga? how do you....ummm...win? I don't know what word to pick to describe it."

"No 'maybe'," she said, smiling. "You really should. A few minutes in the morning. Or at night. I sometimes do just a few minutes at night and find that I sleep much better. Of course, drinking less coffee could probably help me sleep better, too." As thought to counter that statement, Cat took a sip of her ice coffee.

Caitlin grinned. "You don't have to be pretzel worthy. That's for advance yoga anyways. Most people who practice yoga never even bother getting that far. It's mostly about the meditation through the body." Her fingers wanted to be in his hair again and it felt incredibly inappropriate to reach back out. She continued to firmly cup her coffee in both hands. "I used to like to swim," she replied wistfully. "I'm not very good at it. My brother says I look like a flailing, panicking cat in the water." She said this last with a laugh in her voice and a certain fondness in her tone.

"Yeah, since I was a toddler. I wasn't very good, I was just copying what my mom was doing. She wasn't very good either, actually." She shook her head. "She didn't continue very long either but by the time she sort of forgot to do it every morning I was already hooked." Cat suddenly felt like she was talking an awful lot about herself, which she supposed was fair since she'd practically raked over most of his secrets, but she felt self-aware and awkward. It made her skin feel too tight.

"Yeah, I can do the pretzel thing," she agreed. "But I don't always. I pretty much do similar to what we just worked through when I'm reflecting or relaxing." Cat laughed out when he asked about how you win. "Lochlann, you don't win at Yoga. It's not really a sport. It's really like meditation. Like wrestling is a competition because you're trying to best your opponent but yoga is an exercise because you're only trying to better yourself, not beat someone else."

Cat dug her feet in between to cushions, tucking cold toes in. "Tandem is definitely the hardest. I talked my brother into trying with me a few times but he's not very into yoga and he only did it unwillingly. And he's pretty bad. He dropped me twice before I decided to never ask him again. I'm pretty sure he did it on purpose."

"You're probably right," Lochlann said, but realized he should have dropped the probably. He was willing to bet she was right.

Lochlann considered this. Yoga at night to help him sleep? That seemed like a plan.

"Do you have less intense dreams after yoga?" he asked. He mirrored her and took another sip of his coffee as well, then set it back down on the floor.

After two meetings of being in the spotlight, Lochlann was enjoying being able to learn more about her. He'd liked that she'd shared yoga with him, and he liked it even more now that he knew how personal it was to her.

Lochlann laughed at her comment about the flailing cat, but he took another sip of his coffee a second afterwards.

"Horsey thought," he confessed. "Tell me more about yoga."

The flailing had turned into what it might be like to watch her swim and that sent a sudden, sharp pain of hunger through Lochlann's gut. He'd been eating even less since the butcher shop. He didn't want to be eating while he was thinking about Cat, and he'd been thinking about her a lot.

"Do you still do this every morning?" he asked, though he felt like she'd already explained that she had, so he paused for a moment. "I mean that routine that you just took us through. Is it the same? Or do you do different ones?"

He decided that, since he'd had a horsey thought, Lochlann would not ask her to show him one of the pretzel things. That might be dangerous.

Knowing that there was no opportunity at winning made him laugh for some reason.

"So then the only one you're competing with is yourself?" he reaffirmed. He liked the sound of that. She tucked her toes between the cushions and Lochlann shifted so he wasn't pressed up right next to her, giving her some space.

"What's tandem?" he asked. He understood it involved two people if she needed her brother for it, and the mention of being dropped had his interest peaked. He understood all too well the idea of dropping someone on purpose, though. He thought back to Lawrence and gave her a sympathetic smile and shrugged his shoulders as if to indicate, siblings, what can you do.

He fingered his necklace again.

"Did you ever teach yoga if you've been doing it so long? like you just did with me now, but with other people?"

Lochlann moved away slightly when she ticked her toes into the cushions and she frowned slightly. "I don't know about having less intense dreams but it does help me fall asleep easier and wake up, I don't know... Lighter. Like relaxing before sleep puts you in a better place for sleep."

His laughter at her flailing fish sorry didn't bother her, in fact sheet meant for it to be funny. Assuming he must be a powerful and more then proficient swimmer she figured he might be amused by her awful swimming abilities. He laughed, which pleased her, but then in another act that pleased her he admitted to having'horsey' thoughts and she instantly felt guilty.

On the one hand he followed rule one without hesitation and that was a very good thing. On the other hand, now that she thought about it from his point of view it had been a stupid thing to say. Her brother and dad, both great swimmers had often reminded her that her insane splashing around might look to a shark like prey. She concealed a flinch by sipping her coffee. Lochlann was a predator. To him, her flailing could look like an easy target, an easy meal.

"I'm sorry," she told him guiltily and moved away from the topic quickly.

Her nod was enthusiastic, too much so trying to back pedal to solid ground. "Yes, something like this. Sometimes this exactly, sometimes a few more positions. When I'm tied or really stressing myself out I'll get in child per and stay like that for an hour.". Holding the pose for a long time allowed her to reflect on her well or focus on letting go of the tension in each and every limb, tire, and pinky finger. But now that she admitted it she wondered if it sounded silly, to much like cutting up in the fetal position.

"And when I'm feeling spunky I try new things." She laughed again. Was everything some sort of competition for him? "No. Don't think of it like it's compressive at all.. it's more self reflection and improvement. Tandem is practicing together. It's so hard because it's relying on someone else to be synchronized with you. As a game it wouldn't be so hard but if you're taking it seriously and trying to meditate together..." Cat trailer off unsure of how to explain it properly. "I guess you'd just have to know each other really well to get it right."

Cat gave in to the urge and let her hand drop down to his hair again, less to be petting his hair and more to touch him. "I have never taught a class. I've been to classes and I've met up with other Yogi's and traded tips but besides my brother, and now you, I've never been bothered to teach anyone." She smiled wistfully. "I rather enjoyed it," she admitted. She'd enjoyed sharing it but also watching him. Yoga made you move in ways a person wouldn't normally get to see. She liked seeing the sliver of skin, his cheeks flushed, body stretched taught and she better get away from those thoughts quickly before she... Too late, she blushed.

"I would like that," Lochlann said. He didn't want to explain his complicated relationship with sleep, only that he liked the idea that this could help him. "If it makes waking up easier that's good for me."

He anticipated a bad reaction at his confession of a horsey thought, which is why he was so quick to change the subject, but it made him feel guilty when she apologized.

"It's not your fault," he told her. "I don't know what makes my head go the places it does."

But he fell into the talk of yoga easily and pushed everything from is mind except that faint tickling of hunger that kept tickling the back of his throat just when he thought he was ignoring it completely.

"You're able to stay that still when you're so stressed?" Lochlann asked. It didn't sound silly to him--actually, he sounded like he was impressed. Lochlann was all anxious, jerky movements when he was stressed. He was a pacer. The idea of being stationary was almost a foreign concept without some chemical help.

Lochlann did his best to get his mind around the idea of self-reflection, but that was something he strictly avoided at almost all costs. It led into self-pity and pacing. Instead, he said, "It sounds like I'll have to try it until I understand better."

As for tandem, Lochlann considered this. He took in everything she said and understood, or at least made to understand, why it would be difficult. Naturally, he thought about sex, and how the best sex he'd had was with a partner who moved like she was dancing with him.

Her fingers were in his hair again and Lochlann was surprised they brushed away the lewd thoughts. This time, his eyes did droop completely closed for a moment.

His voice was quiet when he confessed, "I like that."

He was picturing what it must like to meet up with other yogis. He wondered if she did it in the mountains, with waterfalls, but that was just dramatic. He just liked the idea of it being dramatic.

"You were good," he told her, and then he opened his eyes back up and grinned at her. 'If you decide to be a teacher I will be very helpful. I will spread great rumors about your flexibility and convince all to attend to achieve your mastery of limberness."

He reached for his coffee but left it where it was because he didn't want to pull his head away to drink it. He preferred the feel of her fingers against him.

"Did your brother do gymnastics with you, too?" he asked her. He liked this, learning about her, without the subject flicking down dark alleys or to the bottom of a lake. He had an unexpected pang in his temple but it disappeared under his touch. He didn't pay attention to what that little bit of pain might be trying to signal to him. The sun was still out. It was beautiful for a winter day.

"I cannot imagine trying to get any of my family to try yoga with me," he said, and then he took that back. "Actually Lawrence might like it but he'd never admit it in a thousand years or do it anywhere anyone could see."

"Then do it," she replied softly. She was quickly built-in the impression that he was a terrible sleeper. Given that his whole life seemed to haunt him she wasn't really surprised.

Cat have her head a quick shake to dismiss his comment. He may say he didn't know why his head went to places it did but she didn't believe that. She thought that deep inside he must know that it was just natural instinct. "I think I do. And I'll try to be more aware of it in the future,"she promised, keeping her tone light.

"Well I'm not always able to but if I consciously try to settle myself down I know my stress might relax. Which encourages me to sit still." She debated for a moment before elaborating. "I tried some yoga right after I meet you," back when she'd been trying to decide what to do about having met him. "It didn't work. I had too much information in my head. So I painted instead." Exaggeration. What she had actually done was sit in front of a canvas blankly.

It sounds like I'll have to try it until I understand better.

She smiled faintly, fingers lifting his hair until the stands ran freely between them. "You strike me as a worrier and a mover. I think yoga will help but have you ever considered running? Or having a go at the punching bag?" Punch bag was too aggressive for someone with the gentleness that made up cat but it seemed like it could also to someone so pent up and tense as Lochlann.

"I like it too." She let the moment rest in silence while she continued to comb his hair, lightly grazing her short nails across his scalp.

Caitlin grinned. "Spreading rumors of wood of mouth advertising?" She asked, having down at him.

"No. He is a mock. Football start, soccer, wrestling, you know the type. He wasn't above spotting me though, or sometimes helping me train. I can throw a football," she sounded unreasonably proud of that fact.

"Lawrence," she repeated after googling lightly. Cat was trying to picture a family of horses, and do in water, trying to do mountain pose. "It's he older or younger."
