Name: Kylie Castle
Age: 13 at death, 14 currently
Birthday: May 5
Gender: Female
Species: Recently Deceased aka Ghost
Category: Citizen
Career: Haunting
Appearance Description: In life, Kylie was a vibrant girl and her appearance very much reflected such. At an average five feet and five inches, Kylie was rail thin, almost too thin, but approaching puberty was already looking promising. Her hair, which fell midway down her back in sweeping waves, was thick and luscious. Naturally a strawberry blonde, Kylie’s mom let her bleach it down and dye it blue when she was twelve and Kylie never went back to natural. With clear blue eyes and smooth porcelain skin, Kylie had high cheekbones, a sharply defined jawline, and a smattering of pale freckles over the bridge of her narrow nose and cheeks.
Death hasn’t managed to change Kylie much but it has given her overall appearance a certain translucent wispiness.
Personality Description: Kylie was a happy, upbeat, imaginative sort of girl. She was spunky, just a little bit rebellious, but very sweet and likeable. The afterlife has jaded her some. She finds herself drifting vaguely often, moving without a goal. Confusion colors her world as she tries to adjust to what she’s become. She remains a sweet and caring girl but she’s lost a lot of the luster that used to make her shine.
Powers: Tangibility. Kylie can make herself tangible but the power is fleeting. She can touch and be touched, touch objects and occasionally even lift or move them. The ability is so fleeting that with the most effort it might last for a minute. This is powered by sheer will and determination.
Without much effort, Kylie can be visible. This is less of a power and more of an ability because many ghosts can also become visible to some degree. However, Kylie can nearly appear solid, even though she isn't. As a regular state, Kyle can maintain a visible transparency but appears vague and wispy but with a little more concentration she can appear as solid as a living human being, but if you were to 'bump' into her you would fall right through.
Species Abilities: Intangibility and invisibility are given ghostly abilities. Intangibility is a ghosts natural state of not being solid. Invisibility obviously means that they can be unseen but possibly otherwise sensed. Kylie can’t necessarily fly as much as she can levitate. This ability to levitate simply comes from being intangible. If you have no solid make up then gravity can’t really have much effect on you. If one were to walk through her they would find themselves cold.
Biography: Kylie was born to an unassuming, average family. She was an unassuming, average girl who earned average grades and had average hobbies. Living in California, Kylie was naturally a surfer, swimmer, and skateboarder. She spent her spare time at the neighborhood skate park or at the beach with her gaggle of friends or her family.
Kylie was moving through life, perfectly content, with big dreams to be a fashion designer when she grew up. She had her very fist boyfriend: Todd, her best friends: Macy and Gloria, and her loving siblings and parents. Life was peachy...until it wasn’t.
Literally, it wasn’t anymore. Life, that is.
One day, the week of Kylie’s thirteenth birthday, Kylie was surfing, riding deep inside of a barrel, when the wave collapsed before she could get through it. Her surfboard flipped out from under her feet and rushed to the surface, dragging her with it by the ankle strap, as it should. Kylie was a strong swimmer, the newspaper article would state later, and the accidental drowning was a tragedy the whole town would feel deeply for months to come.
Kylie let her board drag her to the surface, vision impaired by swirling bubbles tickling her skin. And then she wasn’t rising anymore. Something wrapped around Kylie’s wrist and began to pull her back down to the depths. When the surf board resisted, something broke the strap, leaving the skin around her ankle raw. Kylie struggled, kicking out, whatever had hold of her released her and she kicked to the surface but was again pulled under mid-gasp. This time, it had her ankle. She kicked out with her other foot, clawing for the surface, but it wrapped around her waist, pulling her deeper. The deeper it pulled her, the darker it became and her head swam until finally, Kylie stopped fighting. She blacked out and inhaled.
No one ever had answers for what happened to Kylie. She stood over her own casket at her own funeral. At some point, hours after she drowned, her body had been found, bruised and battered. The casket remained closed.
Kylie stayed with her family until it became apparent to her that, while they couldn’t seem to see her, they could somehow sense her and her presence was disturbing her youngest brothers and the family dog. She moved on, wandering and lost and alone, until she found someone who could see her. He seemed unafraid and she began to spend her time with him. He was an old man, a grave digger in the cemetery where her body was buried.
The old man, whom she only called Grave Digger, eventually explained that he was a necromancer, an other which is why he could see her and hear her. He explained that he had gone to a school when he was young, a school on an island where other people were like him, and also not like him but other. He had returned from the island to marry the girl he had left behind but he was sure the island was still there.
Kylie soon set out to find the island where people could see her and hear her and maybe she could feel normal again.
