The sun drifting through the trees was oddly pleasant compared to the sweltering heat it was normally. It seemed that the perpetual shade of the woods was keeping the temperature down quite well. Of course, it might also have to do with the fact that Wesker was stripping down rather then covered in fabric. It was a pain, but his transformation didn't account for his clothing, at least not yet, so if he wanted to hold onto his clothes for the walk back, he'd have to stash them away while he hunted.

Sliding the last of his clothes into a backpack, Wesker zipped it up and hung it off a branch somewhere unobtrusive. A few moments and some unpleasant popping sounds later, the obscured glade was occupied by his hulking driderish form. He could already feel his instincts demanding to be obeyed, buzzing in his head like a match desperately trying to stay burning. He wasn't hunting for sustenance, it was to calm the tiny voices that now plagued him, to ease the aggression.

He could already sense the animals scurrying about, the sound waves resounding off his skin. There was no lack of prey here. The stalking began, this many legs carrying him almost silently through the brush with only an occasional chitinous click. His body sat low on his legs as he drew in both the front and the back pairs, preparing himself for a beat... two... three... before leaping forward and intercepting a rabbit that had been foraging in the dirt. Poor thing didn't know what hit it, and it was quickly mauled beyond recognition.

While a good portion of the meat was consumed, Wesker's desire was more for the blood of the creature, and he left very drops of it behind before discarding the carrion. What's next? He sent out his senses again, looking for another animal for him to kill. His legs dances about the ground as his excitement grew, the aggression boiling inside him. What's that? A lizard? This time he didn't bother with stalking and timing, simply dashing between the trees to pounce on the creature, lifting it in his human arms before hesitating...

"Whoaaaaa there!" Eph exclaimed as she was suddenly scooped up into this stranger's arms. She didn't let any hint of fear sink into her voice as she instantly let out a very dense shroud of her magic, slowing down this unknown predator to a crawl. Then she leapt away with a kick on its chest, with a whap of her tail on its face for good measure, as the shroud followed her and dissipated.

Eph dusted herself off after she landed a bit awkwardly from her jump. "Man, I suck at acrobatics. And you, sir - and, or, ma'am? - need to work on your manners. I mean, I know I'm the rarest of the rare species, but couldn't you have offered me coffee and biscuits instead of skipping to the poaching?"

Her internal mental alarms were going haywire, and she tensed up, her claws glowing with power and purpose. From that jesting smile and remark she went instantly into a defensive stance, claws readied, eyes carefully glaring and observing.

For all intents and purposes, this entity seemed to be a man - a tall one, bloodthirsty, and capable of speech. Honestly, that was all she could observe. At least all she could observe from the waist up - the rest of him was... a spider? "Okay, I get mixed up with a human horse, and now this guy. I might be hanging out with the wrong crowd."

She whipped her tail on a nearby tree and asked, "Okay, I'm not going to be insensitive enough to ask what the hell is going on with your body, but I'm going to hint at that question, and I am going to ask - what the hell do you think you're doing?"

Wesker was surprised to say the least to find himself halted so rapidly by the other individual, the predator in him going absolutely nuts in his head as the 'prey' escaped him. He recoiled from the force of the tail whip, a hand coming up to check his jaw as he righted himself. Of course it would be a resident. This isn't good, if it breaks through my reigns there will be problems.

Running his tongue over his lip, Wesker brought himself into an upright position and forced a grin over the snarl that was trying to form. "My apologies, I mistook you for... more commonplace pray. Your mannerisms are quite similar." Even as he spoke these words of non-hostility, the spider's legs figited about restlessly, half-in and half-out of the combative stance it favored.

"What is going on with my body is it is currently on one end of my transmutative spectrum." He answered her 'not asked' question with so much as a blink, though the spider clicked a little bit at her. "As for what I am doing, I am hunting."

"Yeah, pal - I prefer not being hunted, so would you kindly not try and kill me? Because even if I don't really particularly like fighting, I will make a spider popsicle out of you."

Eph refused to let her guard down, even if she relaxed a little bit. At least it seemed like this was just a misunderstanding, but not too grave a misunderstanding. If she was bitten or something... well, she'd have fought to kill.

Her brow furrowed as a certain line of dialogue came to mind. Her claws went down and she leaned over with a bemused frown. "...what did you mean 'your mannerisms are quite similar'? I - should I take offense to that?"

Wesker's eyebrow twitched slightly as she verbally sparred with him. He did what he could to calm his instincts. "As you may have noticed, I have ceased any attempts to eat you, fair lady." The spider circled itself a little bit, before righting to face Eph once more. She is not prey, she is most likely a student, and certainly a resident. It would be trouble to attack her.

As Wesker talked himself down, his eyes were studying the creature in front of him. Associating something with curiosity was one way he could overpower his hunger, and this lizard girl was not a thing he had knowledge of. "I cannot tell you to take offense or not, I merely speak the truth." the tiny hairs stretched across his frame all ruffled a little, confirming his next statement. "All of my senses are registering you as a lizard of some variety."

"Oh. That. Yeah, I'm a lizard. Sorry, thought you meant something like the way I carried myself. Or was I singing again? I think I was." Eph relaxed her stance a bit and straightened up. For whatever reason, this spider-thing had quite a polite manner of speech, and had he a British accent, she would have relaxed completely. Alas, he did not, so she didn't lower her guard.

Curiosity got the better of her though, and she came a bit closer. It wasn't every day that Eph met a half-spider person, and it was a much less frequently that she met a half-spider with manners, if such a metaphor was even applicable. "I - okay, this is going to be a bit rude but bear with me here - who or what are you? See, as much as this entire place is messed up, I'm sure you are not a natural part of the forest."

"I'm sorry, I'm not aware of what you were doing prior. I only sensed what seemed to be prey." He continued to dance about on his legs, his current form demanding it be allowed to act but continuing to be held in check. The spider clicked it's fangs at her as Eph stepped closer to it, then Wesker forced the legs to sit still.

The front two legs drew themselves closer to the body, held up in a defensive stance over the spider's face. Similarly Wesker drew a hand across his abdomen, though in more of a bowing motion. "My name is Wesker Straundlin, I am a student at the academy. If I may, who or what are you?"

"Okay. Explains a lot actually. SA's pretty much a good excuse for any weirdness." She nodded her head gravely and shut her eyes in thought. The academy proved the single largest collection of strange things she knew, and this was coming from a lizard raised by a tree and a reclusive witch.

As the spider legs closed in Eph leaned away, stretching out a palm and backing off. "Look, sir, I get that you're really polite and probably a very nice person if I knew you better, but this skittering is not good for conversation."

She drew a deep breath and sighed, closing her eyes and then rolling them, all the while still careful to keep at least one claw ready for defense. "I'll bite. My name's Eph. Yes, I am a talking lizard. How are you? And really - if there was, ah, some way you could maybe not be a half-spider right now... nothing personal, just some leftover spider-related trauma, honestly."

Wesker chuckled a little bit at that. "Indeed, I do believe that that is the point of Starlight Academy, is it not?" Wesker had deduced as much from his acceptance letter, though he was also inclined to do so as he never truly stopped conspiring.

As Eph backed away, the legs twitched a little bit towards her, Wesker fighting back the urge to pounce on the retreating girl. "My apologies once more, the instincts of this form are rather difficult to suppress. Perhaps you understand such things."

When she introduced herself, he halfway extended a hand towards her, as if to take hers before realizing that the habit was out of place here and retracting it again. "It is a pleasure, Eph. I am well, if a little... Unsatisfied at the moment. I fear that reverting to my human form would not improve the situation, as I would not bare any clothing."

"Unsatisfied. That better not be because you didn't eat me. Cause... kind of creepy." Eph let her tail down, and one hand. The retracted handshake bothered her, and in response she extended a friendly, if a bit sharp of a hand for a handshake with the other still glowing faintly with faint traces of magic.

Before he could retract the handshake again, Eph reached out and took it, shaking it vigorously. "So... why would you come here and hunt without bringing clothes? Most common excuse I've heard is 'I'm sexy and I know it'."
