Headmistress Cordelia Moor
And so another school year has drawn to a close.
Headmistress Moor never tired of this big day. Every year, her beloved school, Starlight Academy, produced a fresh batch of graduates. Every year, the Headmistress felt great sorrow that she would never see some of the students she'd known as a child after today, but more than that, she felt boundless, endless pride to see them grow into capable adults. Once outcasts, now productive members of society. This was her mission, her purpose. This was what Starlight was about.
Similar to the previous years, Starlight spared no expense in celebrating this momentous occasion. The ballroom was prettied up with red, white and blue confetti, streamers, and balloons. White flowers in every corner decorated the place, filling the air with a fresh lovely scent. The Graduation March played in the background. The entire Ballroom was packed with students, teachers, and proud friends and relatives of the 2016 graduates.
Headmistress Moor, radiant and formal in her pantsuit, presided over the podium. She took a great moment to appraise the shining faces in the crowd before starting.
"I stand before here now, looking at all of you, and I know in my heart that you've changed. You know this too. You know you were a different person from the day you stepped into the Academy compared to this day. The journey is different for all of us. Some easy and happy, some hard, some tear-filled, but at the end you all reached the finish line. And I know deep in my heart that you're better for it. This is no small feat. Congratulate yourself, graduates! You've done something wonderful, something noteworthy. You've succeeded. Don't think of this as the end. Think of it as a new beginning. And that's what graduation is — a celebration of new beginnings. To everyone here: Congratulations. I am very, very proud of all of you."
Thunderous applause.
Headmistress Moor stepped out of the podium and went over to the diplomas, ready to shake the hands of the fresh graduates.
No post order. Just get in and take your diploma.
