The kiss was a strange sensation to her. She didn't even know something like that could make a person shiver, so she was caught in surprise when it had that effect on her. But she didn't mind. Actually, she liked it. She liked, loved, Lochlann's touches and kisses. They were comforting to her.

She leaned back a little more to his chest, her head still tilted a bit to the side as the cube touched her lips. Carefully she opened her mouth, taking it in with her upper teeth and tongue, before closing her lips and letting the sweet stuff melt.

She let out a surprised noise, and giggled. "It's too sweet," she said. She let the sugar melt even more. It felt ticklish in her mouth, and the way the sugar coated it and her throat felt smooth and rough at the same time.

She resigned into him even further, even closing her eyes as she tried to relax. It felt so nice, especially when Lochlann pulled her closer. "Thanks, Loch." She felt like she was in the safest place there was in the whole universe.

She perked up at the other question, though. Her eyes opened wide as she tried to turn to him, excitement glimmering in them. "You want me to meet them? I'd love to!" She tried to face him, tried to hug him, though the movement was kinda awkward. "So you mean I can come to your graduation? Because I would really love to be there."

"There's no such thing as too sweet," Lochlann teased, nuzzling her neck again. He liked this part of her. It was warm and intimate an smelled deliciously like her.

If he was going to kill her, he'd bite there first.

The thought caught him offguard and Lochlann pulled his head away, instead resting his forehead on her shoulder and looking down as he had before. He sighed, his breath touching her back.

His position changed when she moved on his lap to hug him awkwardly, and Lochlann did the same. He was surprised, too though.

"You want to come to my graduation?" he asked. "And sit through that whole boring thing?"

He forced his eyebrows back down but they shot back up in surprise, and then Lochlann was grinning at her.

"Sure. I think my family will like to meet you I should just..." he wanted to say he should warn her, but in truth, he should warn them that she didn't know what he was.

"I don't know," Lochlann finally laughed. "I've never had anyone meet my parents before."

They never lasted that long.

Still facing Lochlann, Adelene pulled away and propped herself up on her knees, while her free hand rested on his shoulder. She was grinning back at him, as if at any moment she was about to laugh.

"Of course I want to go! Who knows if it will be boring for me, I've never been to any kind of graduation." She wasn't kidding. All the learning she knew she's gone to happened at home with her adoptive parents. And then she lived like a wanderer for most of her teenage years before coming to the academy. "Besides, when I go, it'll be for you. Seriously, how bad can it be?"

She didn't think it would be too bad. After all, she could stay focused on all her classes; graduation is a celebration, she'd be hyped.

But she was more excited with what could happen later. She was curious about Lochlann's family. She's always wanted to meet them, especially his sister. Which was ironic because she was never excited about meeting new people, more so females.

"Really, you've never brought anyone to meet your parents before?" She tilted her head to a side, her eyebrows wrinkled. She didn't know how to think of that, if it was a good thing or a bad thing or what. "What are they like though? I mean... your parents. Are they cool?"

when I go, it'll be for you.

Lochlann was....

He was touched.

The feeling caught him so offguard that he stumbled a little bit from the happiness, even though he wasn't standing. But, he leaned forward and without thinking too much about it, Lochlann pressed his lips to hers.

It was a quick kiss, barely even the brush of lips, because he pulled back realizing what he'd been about to do. He gave a shaky laugh and ran his free hand through his hair.

"uhhh my parents," Lochlnn chewed on the inside of his cheek. He shook his head, trying to regain control of himself. "No, I told you we uh, moved a lot right? I never had the chance to bring anyone to meet with them."

All true, even if it wasn't quite in the right order.

"I guess my parents are cool? Uhhh...." Lochlann didn't know how to answer that, so he shrugged. "They're both very practical people."

They were both totally normal.

Lochlann was the fuck-up in the family.

"They'll like you," he assured her. "Lawrence might be a little weird. He's not allergic to the anything I am, but he has uh, a condition, too, so he's a little distant sometimes"

Lawrence was warm and friendly. He was the oldest, and it was assumed Lawrence would take over the herd and the farm. Unfortunately, Lawrence couldn't hold his shape at all when it rained. The first brush of water on his skin and he was a stallion.

Lochlann reached over and grabbed another sugar cube, pressing it to her lips.

"This was a bad idea," Lochlann groaned. "They're going to tell you so many embarrasing stories about me and ruin your whole mental image of me."

Adelene flinched back just a little. She didn't hate it; if anything the kiss was just so sudden and abrupt and random. She blinked at him, trying to weigh his awkward laugh while also trying to keep her cheeks from heating up. The second one didn't go so well.

She settled down on her own legs in front of him as she listened. The air was definitely still cold, and she was going to start shivering in a few moments, but she kept facing him, watching his face that was drenched with candlelight as he spoke. She smiled gently.

"I hope they'll like me. Or uh... more like I hope they won't dislike me or hate me." She had a bad obsession with parents. A longing for a couple of her own because she's lost hers at such a young age. She wanted to be friends with all parents she could meet.

"Lawrence... your brother? You guys have some... problem with water right? That's okay," she assumed him. The incident in that shed after their trip to the amusement park never left her mind. It was weird and angsty, but she's long become nonchalant of that part of him. Like, it didn't matter if water turns him into an even more flirty flirt than he already was.

She opened her mouth to munch in the second sugar cube. It melted and spread everywhere inside just like the first one, but at least this time she wasn't surprised with the sweetness anymore. And then she started laughing, trying to think of what embarrassing things Lochlann's family could tell her, and what mental image Lochlann was even talking about.

"Really now? I don't think my mental image of you can get any worse," she kidded, but she immediately followed that with a soft "I'm joking," and a pat on the head.

"They'll like you," Lochlann decided. When a breeze came by, Lochlann frowned. He leaned back, collapsing onto his back, and he pulled Addy on top of him so he could wrap his free arm around her and keep her warm. He traced patterns on her exposed back absentmindedly.

"They'll think you're a good influence," Lochlann said, and then he laughed when she started to laugh. "But i know the truth. You are a bad influence. A very, very bad influence."

Of course, he wasn't taking sleeping pills anymore because of her, but he was staying up late thinking dirty thoughts, sometimes about her, so maybe that was a bad thing?

He wasn't sure.

"I guess we'll pick you up around 4 for the boring ceremony? Ugh I can't believe you're going to sit through it. Oh god you'll be sitting with my parents. Thank god we don't have baby photos."

Lochlann was groaning, but he was happy. This was the best night he'd had in a long time. He reached over and grabbed another chocolate, pressing it to her lips with lazy grin.

"You are lucky you're adorable," he said. "It hides how dangerous you are, Addy."

When Lochlann pulled her to lie down, Adelene tried her best not to fall right on top of him, but she was helpless inside his arm, especially while her other hand was handcuffed to his. She shifted a little, rolling beside him as she rested their bound hands on his chest. She rested her head just beside them.

"How am I a bad influence?" she looked up and pouted. But she can't help but smile again right afterwards. "I'm a good person and a good student. I'm a good best friend AND--" she poked on his heart with her bound hand, "--I will always take good care of you, if you let me."

She nuzzled his chest. She was comfortable right where she was and she didn't mind even though the patterns Lochlann's hand made on her back made her ticklish. He was always really warm.

"Pick me up? I can always just go to the venue on my own, you know. But okay." When she took the chocolate, her teeth and tongue slightly grazed on Lochlann's fingers; whether that was intentional or not, she wasn't sure. She'd grin if she wasn't chewing the chocolate. Not wasting a second, she also reached for the box and gave him one as well.

"I take dangerous as a compliment sometimes," she said with a little shrug. "I don't like it when people look scared while saying it, but I like it otherwise. Means I don't look too weak."

Lochlann nuzzeled the top of her head with his own and closed his eyes, giving a contended sigh.

Yeah, shit, Addy was a great influence. He was glad he had her. He tried to pretend that she'd still feel the same way even if she knew what he was. He wasn't going to ruin the evening with it.

You're a bad influence because you inspire wicked, wicked thoughts, he mused, but he didn't say it.

Instead, he said, "But when are you going to let me take care of you? And Addy, you're not a good best friend."

He didn't hesitate, just pulled her closer and murmured, "You're a great best friend."

When her teeth grazed her skin, Lochlann's eyes dilated. She was probably quick enough to notice it, but he didn't seem to notice his reaction, even when he took the chocolate she gave him and let it melt in his mouth.

"That's what makes you great," Lochlann said. "You are dangerous, because you know you're dangerous. It's why I feel safe with you."

Adelene felt her cheeks heat up even more when Lochlann pulled her closer. It was embarrassing, she was in such a revealing dress while pressed against him, and he should notice, since he's been touching her back for a while now, that she didn't have anything on her torso beneath that dress. No strap on her back, nothing in front either.

Fortunately he had his coat on. It served as some kind of boundary between them.

"You do take good care of me, you know," she said, and then suddenly many of their moments together in the past flashed before her. She'd always think he takes good care of her, because she's always felt that way, and she can't think otherwise ever. "You always hug me when I need it. You gave me the most wonderful birthday surprise. Warmed me up when I got hypothermic... and I know you cared back then because you did it even though you had problems with the rain and you sounded really creepy at some moments..." She laughed at the memory. That time in the shed while they waited for the rain to pass has become such a wonderful memory to her even though it wasn't all smiles. "...You also took care of me when I got sick. That was the first time someone nursed me back to health since my parents got killed." Parents. She's been missing her parents a lot nowadays, it was somehow sad but that was one more thing Lochlann helped with. "You make me happy, Loch. What else can I ask for?"

She turned her head a little bit more towards the sky. Sadly, the city below them was too lit up, so there weren't so many stars she could see up above. She sighed. But her sigh was a content one as she looked into Lochlann's eyes. She noticed that they changed somehow, but she didn't really know why and didn't really think she needed to know. "I think you've been the one taking care of me all this time, not the other way around. Feeling safe around you, that's supposed to be my line."

Her words caught Lochlann off guard, and if she was watching his face, she'd see his expression falter a few times even with his eyes close.

Lochlann could not trust his own feelings.

Did he do these things because he cared about Addy, or because it would make it easier to lure her to the bottom of a dark lake? The night in the shed was still a painful memory for him, embarrassing in how badly he'd wanted her, but was now any different?

He wanted her. He couldn't be sure if his decision to respect her decision was because he really respected her decision, or if because he was unwilling to lose her. If he was really scared of losing her, why did he want to sleep with her so badly? That couldn't end well. It never ended well.

His head hurt thinking about this.

"Oh, Addy," Lochlann murmured. "Please, don't ever feel safe around me."

He blinked his eyes open, looking at the girl he'd spent a night having fun with, and Lochlann realized he was done thinking. He liked that everything with her just felt easy and right.

"You could ask for this," he said, and he was honestly going to unhandcuff them but at the last minute, instead of reaching for the key he'd hidden, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers.

It wasn't like the kiss on the roof. It was a soft, quiet kiss, accented by the wine and the sweets they'd had earlier, like it was the last course for their meal.

He pulled away then, his face flushed, and Lochlann rested his head back against the ground to try and act casual when really he was hoping against all odds that they'd do it again.

"Just....let me know when you're ready to go back home," he said. "The last surprise is our ride home."
