Adelene couldn't even believe that expression Lochlann made for Seth. And his question too. She didn't know if she wanted to laugh or if that split second scared her. "I'm technically still hiding from him, you know. To be honest... I have no idea why he hasn't followed me here. Maybe he doesn't know about the island, but that's almost impossible." Right. He could come anytime and everything will be ruined for her. Why hasn't it happened yet?

She shook that off easily, and settled with a laugh. Seth shouldn't matter here. She was with Lochlann, they were having a great time in a fancy restaurant, no danger or whatsoever. Well... there's the danger of landing into a really awkward situation, but that didn't seem likely at the very moment. "You're not my student, Loch. 'sides, your hits were mostly 'cause you always surprise me..."

Her face cooled down soon enough. She took the tiramisu hesitantly, giving Lochlann an unsure glance. What he said didn't leave her mind, and even managed to confuse her. She assumed Lochlann was talking about his drug and alcohol problems, though whatever it really was, she suddenly felt torn about him getting better. If he got better, then was he going to leave her?

"It'll be nice if you get to fix it. You can always make more plans after that."

She eyed the dessert again. "Tiramisu," she mumbled, before taking a bit into her mouth. She glanced at Lochlann as if she was wondering if he wanted a reaction. For that, she smiled and nodded approvingly. "It's delicious." She chuckled, and then took some more of the dessert. She loved how the... bread..? felt like it was melting in her mouth together with the cream and the other flavors. "I love the way you think. I think I'll still enjoy it after Veal Marsala, but this works too... Can we have more sweets later though?"

"If he ever follows you here, I will probably kill him." The words escaped his mouth before he realized he'd said them. Now that they were out, though, Lochlann wasn't going to take them back.

Still, he didn't want to dwell on the fact that he was a killer anymore than he had to. Lochlann watched her take the bite of tiramisu and when she nodded approvingly, Lochlann's grin widened.

"It's good?" he said, pleased. He took a spoonful himself and then nodded in agreement. He relaxed back into his chair. "I think it might actually be as sweet as you are."

He took another bite, then shook his head, sighing dramatically.

"No, it's still not as sweet as you are.but it comes close. We can definitely have more sweets later. This night is about indulgence, angel. Your wish is my command."

Lochlann's eyes drifted to watch her lips on the spoon. He knew what he'd wish for.

He pulled his thoughts back to questions.

"What about people? Did you ever want to get married or anything like that?"

"If he ever follows you here, I will probably kill him."

Adelene blinked. She believed in Lochlann and she believed that he cared about her, but hearing those words had a different impact on her. She liked how he sounded serious, but she was, at the same time, too afraid of Seth to think it was a good idea.

She let it go with a simple "Thanks, Loch."

She was a little worried she might finish her sweets sooner than she wanted, because it was really good and she couldn't pause eating. But then Lochlann asked about her thoughts of marriage, which kinda choked her a bit and she tried to cough out the bits of bread that was caught in her airway.

She's been very conflicted about that topic these past few weeks. To love or not to love, or who to love. And marriage was an even bigger question. Marriage meant starting a family and having kids, and she didn't want anyone to inherit her powers and possibly ending up having a ruined life like hers. She hasn't even decided what to answer to Leon's question.

"D-Dunno..." she uttered as her coughing subsided. She was clutching on her chest for a moment, but she relaxed her hand soon enough. "I... I want you to be in my future, that's for sure... And Leon too. Because you guys are my best friends. But that's all for now... What about you? Do you have... people you want to keep?"

She was coughing, and Lochlann started to get up from the table to pat her on the back, but it subsided before he had the chance to get much further than pushing his chair out.

He took a slow spoonful of his desert, savoring it while she spoke to him, almost giving the impression that Lochlann was tasting her very words.

Leon.

Lochlann was sure he'd met Leon once before, at Addy's birthday, but he realized that he did not know much about Leon besides his name and what he looked like. he made a mental note to dig up some information on Leon. If he was important to Addy, Lochlann wanted to know why.

Her response surprised him, if only because Lochlann assumed she had plans for herself in the future. Her asking him in return made him realized he was not prepared for that.

Should he tell her that he wasn't even sure if he had a future?

"I want to keep you," Lochlann said. "I'll worry about the rest when it comes."

He wanted to wait until after they ate for his next surprise, which was lucky considering their food was being brought to the table. Lochlann urged Lamby to sit under the table so he was out of the way, and then watched as the delicious Veil marsala was set before them.

“This looks good,” Lochlann admitted. He only had a few mouthfuls of his desert left to finish, which he did before looking at his meat.

He held up his wine glass towards Addy.

“A toast?” he said. “To good friends?”

Adelene ate the last of her dessert while listening to Lochlann. Hearing him say that he wanted to keep her around honestly pleased her. She giggled, her shoulders rising for a moment before she eased more into her seat.

Their Veal Marsala was coming up, and she turned her head to the waitress the moment she noticed. Her eyes were following the food though. And she smiled at them as they were placed on the table.

"It does look good. I haven't tried that much Italian food yet, so I'm kinda curious."

Lochlann offered a toast, to which she responded immediately by raising her own glass and gently touched Lochlann's. A soft clang would then echo between them.

"Cheers to great friends. To us." And then Adelene brought her glass to her lips, taking a sip of the thick red liquid. She put the glass down a moment after, shooting Lochlann another smile. "Say, after dinner, are we gonna do anything else?"

"To great friends," Lochlann echoed, and then he downed his glass. His face was starting to look a little flushed from the wine, which was surprising, given how little he'd drank in comparison normally.

Lochlann smirked at her next question. What he planned for after dinner was going to be big, but he tried not to let his smile be any indication of that.

"Yes," Lochlann said, simply. "I have plans for you tonight."

He took a bite of his veal and blinked in surprise, then took another one. Lochlann wasn't exactly sure what veal was, but if he knew, he'd probably eat it anyway. He'd dragged live sheep bleating and gasping into the water and eaten them raw. It was better than eating a human, after all.

When they were finished eating (and Lochlann had another glass of wine), he'd look at her and grin again.

"Okay, Addy, are you ready for this?" he asked, and then he got out of his seat, walked to her side of the table, and offered her his hand. He was bracing himself internally for the pain he was going to end up with, but he was looking forward to it.

Italian was an interesting flavor. It kept Adelene guessing what was in their dinner, though the only thing she could really be sure of that was there was... the meat. Tasted like really good chicken. The wine was a perfect drink for the dish, giving contrast to the taste while the little alcohol content tingled her tastebuds constantly.

One glass was enough, though. She didn't want to drink too much again and end up lacking some memories of this wonderful night.

Her eyes followed Lochlann as he stood up and went to her. She stated at his hand, hesitantly taking it as she stood up as well. Her eyes were curiously searching explanation from Lochlann's own once more. "I'm not ready," she muttered. Her voice slightly trembled, yet she didn't even know why. "What are we gonna do?"

"We're going to have fun," Lochlann told her. "Tonight is about indulgence, remember? I need to do something to make sure we have an appetite for more sweets"

He put his hand on her back and his pupils dilated the moment his fingers came in contact with her bare skin. He felt better when he was touching her. He couldn't explain it.

He was close to her again, and when she was ready, he would lead her past the other diners and to the dance floor.

"If I'd known you earlier, I would have asked you to the winter dance," Lochlann admitted. "And who knows what will happen between now and October? Dance with me?"

He had something in his pocket for after the dance. It was his last surprise for the restaurant...but not for the evening.

Lochlann had to stop doing that. He had to stop touching her back, or Adelene was going to get used to it. And she didn't want that.

But she didn't wriggle away, nor did she do anything to make Lochlann let go. She let herself be led to the dance floor, even though she's never tried this before, and her heart was beating like a firing machine gun. Her face was red from the blood rush, from the nervousness and embarrassment. But she trusted Lochlann knew what he was doing.

"I'd love to dance with you," she answered, without even putting much thought to what she said. She wouldn't regret it though. Maybe tonight, it was okay not to deny her thoughts and just say them the way they really were; Lochlann was also being abnormally sweet anyway. "Winter dance sounds fun, I wish I were already here then. B-But... I've never really tried this before so... lead?"

Lochlann smiled and turned to face her, closing the distance between them. He kept his hands on her bare skin for the most part, though he did anchor himself with his thumbs on her hips.

“It’s easy,” Lochlann said. “And it’s fun. Put your hands here….and then we just move with the music.”

It was nothing fancy, just a slow song, but Lochlann moved with her body to the music. There were not a lot of things Lochlann was good at, but he excelled at things related to courtship. Dancing happened to be one of them. He kept her body close, spinning her when it seemed appropriate, and somehow finding the way to make the dance put into motion the feelings he couldn’t quite transcribe into words.

And Lochlann had a lot of feelings for her. They were confusing and messy and he kept trying to shove them down and burry them, but they kept finding little ways to escape.

“Hey,” Lochlann said. “Do me a favor and….look up.”

He spun her towards someone with a camera, so Lochlann was standing right behind her with the slightest of smiles on his face. The fact that she didn’t have a photo of her family had been weighing heavily on his mind and it had honestly bummed him out. He knew this wouldn’t replace it, but Addy was like family now, and he wanted to give her a picture of a night that had nothing to do with violence or bloodshed or dead ex girlfriends, just them having fun.

“Oh…there’s one more thing,” Lochlann said.

He had a pair of handcuffs in his pocket. It was getting close to that time.
