And Adelene still didn't wriggle away from his hold. Some time as Lochlann spoke, her face finally loosened up and relaxed a bit, slowly getting rid of her redness and her glare. Lochlann always sounded nice when he laughed for the sake of laughs, and Adelene smiled to that.

"What could be so shocking and dramatic that I won't be able to kill a target?" she asked, humoring this pretend scene that they weren't going to go through, although Lochlann somehow managed to pique her interest for it. She didn't say 'kill you', even while talking about some made up scene, though. The thought of pulling a trigger directed to Lochlann was so cruel she'd cry just seeing the mental image. Fortunately, reality distracted her. His hand on his back was a strong pull that made her unable to float away.

"So should I expect you to have all kinds of surprises for tonight?" Adelene chuckled at her question's irony. She looked around briefly, hoping they'd get to their table soon. She wasn't really sure what to expect for dinner because... this fancy place was a stranger, and Lochlann sounded more than a little mischievous tonight.

"Oh, I still intend for you to find out," Lochlann said. His face grew serious again. "I even wrote my will, so in case it makes you so mad that you decide to kill me afterwards, at least my affairs are in order. I'm willing all my posessions to Lamby."

He bit his bottom lip and then giggled again.

He grew serious for real when they approached the restaurant, and he spoke to the hostess.

"Reservations for two, under Cabyll-Ushtey," his accent snuck out when he said his last name, a heavy Manx influence that was otherwise hidden behind American English.

The waitress led them to their table and Lochlann pulled the chair out for her, trying to remember to be gentlemanly since she was being a good sport about all of this, and she did wear the ridiculous fancy dress.

The waitress brought them both menus and Lochlann flipped through his idly, as though he'd already decided what he wanted to eat that night.

What he wanted most was sitting at the table across from him.

He swallowed suddenly and flipped to the drinks menu.

"I have plenty of surprises for you," Lochlann said. "So you'd better brace yourself! I'm not sure what I want to eat, though. I've never had a lot of Italian."

"Kebl... Wait what..? Lochlann you sounded weird just now."

And that slip of the accent was rather nice to hear. It made Adelene miss her own origins, because she stayed in the northern parts of England for quite some time. Strangely enough, she's always had neutral accent. But her adoptive parents had elegant British accent and she missed that.

She was led to the table, and she had to appreciate the gentlemanly gesture, because while it wasn't strange, it was weird seeing Lochlann being so proper. She smiled at him before taking her seat, and when the waitress handed the menus, she immediately, though slowly, browsed through all the lists.

She'd glance up at Lochlann every now and then, however. Her attention totally divided. But then a few moments later she would look back on the menu again, because she didn't want to be caught staring.

...Lochlann was really extra attractive tonight though.

"Um... Veal marsala sounds nice," she said, glancing up to the waitress to indicate that it was her order. "And maybe some red wine?"

She closed her menu. She didn't know what else to get other than that, so if Lochlann wanted to add more, it'll be up to him. She placed the menu on the table and shoot him a smile. "You know, I think I won't be able to take your surprises no matter how hard I try to brace myself."

Lochlann laughed.

"Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, it's really weird. I like seeing the spellings people come up with for my name, but do you know the worst part?" Lochlann didn't look up from his menu while he spoke, so it was probably the reason he was spilling so much. "We chose our last name. We could have picked anything and we still picked that. ugh."

He flipped through the pages again, and then when Addy ordered, Lochlann said, "I'll have the same, please."

He settled into his seat and took a sip of his water, but his eyes kept drifting back to her.

"Thank you for doing this with me," Lochlann said. "The whole thing, I mean. You look absolutely gorgeous, and I know how much you hate dresses. But it's....it's nice. I'm glad you put up with me."

He loooked behind her and smirked.

"Speaking of the first surprise..it's on the way now."

Coming up from the table behind her was Lamby, wearing a bow tie, and carrying a bottle of wine on a tray table on his back.

Adelene only gave him a curious look, her brows wrinkling upward as her head tilted. "Chose?"

She let it go pretty quickly though. She could feel her cheeks warming up again, because that, that serious fluff talk he was doing was one of the things she might never get used to. He sounded so sweet. Which was... not a good thing, as Addy can see it. She can't fall for him, no more than she already has, in a sense, at least.

"I'm just... honoring our deal," she answered. While it was true, she figured she was loving the evening so far, and she didn't want that to show too much. "To be honest, this dress is still really comfortable... though I guess I'm getting used to it a little."

She looked around, because she wanted to know where the bathroom was so she wouldn't have to awkwardly search for it later if ever she'll need to do so. She caught Lochlann's smirk momentarily, her eyes narrowing in a confused manner, before she turned her head and looked over her shoulder, only to see Lamby coming to them with the wine.

"...Oh my god."

A giggle escaped her lips before she covered them with a hand, just like how refined ladies would react when they're shocked. Her face suddenly felt hotter, she wanted to convince herself that it was because she was happy to see the sheep, but deep down, she was just flattered with this first surprise.

"Why, hello there, Lamby! I missed you!" Her smile was bright and wide, and as the sheep reached them, she immediately took the wine and rewarded him with a gentle petting on the head and jaws.

She turned that smile to Lochlann, even though she didn't stop petting the sheep. "What kind of tricks did you pull for the hotel to let this fluffball in, hm? Lochlann, this is... great!"

"Yeah," Lochlann said. "My family didn't have a last name, so when they came to America and I had to enroll in school, that's just what my dad said."

He was really thinking a lot about tonight, and he kept thinking that maybe tonight was the night. Maybe tonight, he should tell her the truth. He should tell her everything.

But....

It was going so well. Did he really want to ruin it?

Lochlann took the bottle and poured them each a glass of wine while Addy petted Lamby.

"I had to sleep with like six people to bring lamby in here," Lochlann said, and then started to laugh. "No, I'm kidding. I prearranged it when I made the reservations. I know I already did this for your birthday, but I couldn't resist."

Lochlann took a sip of his wine, trying to drink it slowly, but his restraint was lacking. He'd stopped taking sleeping pills, but he still needed to drink if he wanted to feel even a little bit human.

"Tell me something about you that I don't know," Lochlann said suddenly, looking up at her while he poured another glass.

For a moment, a frown, a really dark frown, crossed Adelene's face. Even though Lochlann did look like he was joking about how he slept with six people to get Lamby here, the joke wasn't funny. At all. Especially because she knew she'd believe him if he didn't say immediately that it was a joke.

But thank goodness Lamby was there because he was so fluffy and his wool absorbed the faint negativity, and Adelene's face quickly lightened up. And then she faced Lochlann, taking her glass of wine and taking a sip.

"No worries, Lamby Surprise doesn't get old," she said as she put it down. She chuckled. And then she shot him a confused stare, wondering what he meant by telling something he didn't know. For a moment, their eyes were locked on each other, but the wine distracted her and pulled her attention to its thick color. Absentmindedly, she began gently whirling the wine inside her glass.

"Something you don't know?" There weren't much left to that, really. She told him a lot during their drinking contest already. The ones left were... well...

He didn't need to know the rest. Adelene smiled. She shouldn't ruin the evening by overthinking things. She didn't even know what he meant. "I dunno, Lochlann. What do you not know?" She giggled right after. Of course, he didn't have to answer that. But how she asked him seriously was a little funny. "I think you know me pretty well by now."

"Tell me about what you want in the future," Lochlann said. He took another sip of his wine. "What do you want to do when you grow up? For lack of better phrasing. Are you going to leave the island? Are you going to stay here? What job do you want?"

Lochlann was not sure where this sudden interest in the future came from, but it honestly scared him that he didn't know. He didn't know what she wanted, and he didn't know what he wanted. He'd never lived outside of the present before.

"I do think i know you pretty well, in that I think I have a good idea about how you'll react to certain things," Lochlann admitted. "But I don't know much about how you think. I can never get enough of you."

He took another sip before he said anything cheesier.

Lochlann swallowed.

The waitress returned, sliding their desert onto the table before them. Lochlann grinned at her.

It was another surprise. Desert before dinner. Something sweet before something substantial.

Adelene hadn't thought about that-- the future. She's only thought about it during those moments she's seen Lochlann in terrible situations; she had worried about his future then; and when he said he was staying for college, she had thought about wonderful things that could happen while they can still be together.

She hasn't been thinking so much of her own future. Live, survive, that's all she's ever done until she got the opportunity to live like a normal person in Manta Carlos.

She rested her elbows on the table and locked her fingers together, before she rested her chin on the back of her hands. She was smiling curiously at Lochlann as she hummed in thought.

"What's gotten you interested all of a sudden? This sounds like some interrogation." But it was nice to know that he was curious. Made her wonder if it was a natural thing to him, if he asked other girls the same questions; or why he would even ask.

"I don't really know yet, but I could probably stay here after I graduate. Teach in the academy." She chuckled, thinking about it. Thinking about what she could teach, or what she could do if she wouldn't go with that. "I don't have any reason to go away. Only Seth is waiting for me in the outside world... and all people dear to me are here. I don't really have much reason to live another way so I'll just stay."

She leaned back against her seat, reaching to pet Lamby again. She's going to give him his share of attention too, though her eyes didn't leave Lochlann's. "Why do you ask? So you're finally thinking about the future?"

Her face suddenly felt like it was burning again when he said he couldn't get enough of her.

Thankfully, the waitress returned, and Adelene found a reason to break her stare without causing some awkwardness between them. Her head tilted to the side, and she eyed the dessert cluelessly, before turning to Lochlann again with her question marked on her face. "What's this?"

"What's gotten you interested all of a sudden? This sounds like some interrogation."

"It could be an interrogation," Lochlann laughed. "Only I planned for 50-shades, not good cop/bad cop...just consider it my own interest."

He watched her face intently as she spoke, and when she said she was thinking of staying on the island to teach, Lochlann was surprised. He was more surprised when she mentioned Seth, and for a second, Lochlann's face darkened.

"Seth is still alive?" Lochlann asked. He'd grown perfectly still, like a predator sensing the encroachment of another monster into his territory. Lochlann clenched his fist under the table, and then forced himself to relax.

"I think you'd be a good teacher......although most teachers wouldn't hit their students," Lochlann teased, rubbing his side as though he still had bruises. He didn't, of course, but he liked to tease her. He liked the way she blushed. It made him want to kiss her again.

Lochlann looked down at Lamby to distract himself. For him?

"I don't know," Lochlann admitted. "The plan has always been finish my education, fix my...problem...and then go back home. But I havnen't really solved my problem yet, and I don't know if I ever will, so here I am."

He shrugged, then looked down at the desert and grinned.

"I honestly have no idea what it is," Lochlann said. "Tira...tiarra-missu? It's supposed to be their best desert. I asked for them to bring it first. I didn't want you to miss out on enjoying something good just because we're supposed to, because that's just a rule someone made up."

He stuck a spoon into the cup and then held it out to her.

"Try it!"
