Skates? Check. Jacket? Check. Hat? Check. Ricky was ready, all she needed was something to eat, and she would be set. Grabbing her skates and some cash, Ricky ran out the door, heading for the cafeteria. She pulled her hat down over her ears, wishing they weren't so sensitive. Looking around, she giggles, running through the snow. God, did she miss this.

If only her stomach didn't start growling. She didn't have time for breakfast, if people got to the lake before she did, they would ruin the ice! She frowned, mumbling about the dangers of tiny ice chunks and tripping as she strolled to the cafeteria. Looking down at her watch, she groaned. Already 10:00 AM, she couldn't afford a food break. She stopped, torn.

"Oh well, I can eat later." She turned, smiling at the fog emanating from her mouth. She loved the winter. She loved ice. She did not, in fact, like ice on sidewalks. As Ricky started to run for the lake, she fell forward. Onto someone else. Someone very warm, and very upset with the current state of things.

Her muse was at another block. Miya couldn't come up with anything to cook, bake, sew, or compose. So what better way then to walk around and see how people were enjoying the winter. Miya herself enjoyed it far more then most simply because she didn't have to keep her heat from escaping as much as normal. Hell a lot of people actually enjoyed when she was around as it kept the air that right amount of cold to enjoy the winter, but the right amount of heat to not freeze.

Miya had been sitting near one of the more common ice skating lakes watching people enjoying themselves on the ice. Miya took care to keep her heat down enough to not melt the ice from underneath people. Even if they fell in, well, the water wouldn't be cold enough to cause any harm. A gasp from behind caused her to turn her head.

And prompt someone to fall on top of her. Miya blinked a few times at the girl on top of her before she stared at the girl. Was she just not paying attention or was she just doing this to be an ass?

"Yo! Need to be more careful. Mind getting off me though?

Ricky was mortified. She had run into people before, but full on tackling? That was new. And it didn't help that she was nose to nose with the other girl. A very attractive other girl. Ricky's face was on fire, and it wasn't because of the snow. Jumping up, Ricky babbled an apology, pulling the girl up before freezing. Her skates. She looked around, but they weren't anywhere close to the crash site.

"Shit!" Ricky whipped her head around, unable to locate the skates. Her skates, given to her by a fellow gang member, were one of her most prized possessions, and she would never forgive herself if she were to lose them. And she had just sharpened the blades, too! "God damnit, where are they?" She squinted, something flashed in the corner of her eye, and she practically dove for the skates, pulling them close and sighing in relief. "Oh, thank god."

The girl. She had run into a girl. Ricky's face flushed, having forgotten about the crash of the century. Looking over, she stared at the girl, unable to speak. Ricky, clutching her skates as if they were her own child, covered in snow, was mortified.

Accident it was. Miya got up with the girl's help and just waved it off. No need to be so weird about an apology. Things happened and it was good no one was really hurt. Or in this case burned. The girl started going crazy and searching around for something. A pair of skates? With how the girl was acting it almost like it was the end of the world. Miya started looking around herself before she heard the girl leap to her skates. Turning to look she raised an eyebrow at the scene. Well...She understood having something that meant a lot to her.

"You alright? Here let me take care of the snow, though you will be a little wet from it. Just hold still for a sec, it's gunna get a little hot."

Miya straightened her hair a bit and moved her bangs to get a clear view of the girl as she focused on the snow covering her. It wasn't too much, so it didn't require her to exert too much heat to melt the snow, nor evaporate the water either. The air grew hotter for a moment as the snow began to melt off the girl, the water forming after disappearing shortly after leaving just a warm heat lingering. The heat began to die down a bit after, but there was still a small lingering amount as if one had sat in their car for a few minutes.

"There, that should be good. You alright? No overheating or anything?"

Miya held out her hand to the girl. It was the least she could do as well.

"I mean least ask a girl her name before you decide to jump all over her, which is Miya by the way."

@Ricky remember when I said doing these would help alert people to your posts? I checked this at random to see if there was a post. next time you post put @Bolt and it'll alert me that you've posted.

"I am so sorry, I'm such a klutz!" She was blushing furiously, still clutching her skates. "I-I'm Ricky. Thanks for melting the snow." She stuck out a hand, still frazzled from the sudden impact. Six million years of human evolution for her to fuck up like this. She couldn't believe she had managed to tackle someone who was sitting down, not moving.

She flicked her gaze to the girls face, who seemed very calm for someone who had every reason to suspect Ricky had assaulted them. As unlikely as it was, it was an accident, embarrassing as it was. Ricky hoped she wasn't just hiding her anger.

Miya shrugged as she pulled Ricky up. It didn't bother her too much, just weird was all. But why wouldn't someone be watching what they were doing as they ran down the street? Was odd in this weather, but hey things happens.

"Shit happens. You weren't hurt, I'm not hurt. No one got cut by the blades. All good. Sides not everyday someone decides they want to go head first into a sitting person. If that's your approach to meeting people then I'll admit it's unique."

Her tone was indifferent, but still showed some signs of being more worried about Ricky then what happened. Was she just an insecure person? Well it was possible, but something Miya didn't want to get into.

"Well, have fun skating which is what I'm assuming that's why you're here. As you can see, I can't exactly go onto the ice without, well, melting it."

She pointed around the area she had been sitting at, which was devoid of any snow in a five foot radius around her. Water trickled down through the snow towards the lake and some of the trails froze up along the way. Not like Miya had the balance to skate anyway. Her hair would get in the way too.

Ricky smiles. "How do you know if you've never tried?" Could Miya control her power? Maybe, but Ricky didn't know too much about that. No harm in trying, right? She could see a rental shack further down the path to the lake, and smiled.

"You got cash?" Ricky was slouching again, hands shoved deep in her coat pockets, skates dangling off one arm. She epitomized an oxymoron. Confident yet insecure, she could go from a nervous wreck to a carefree one, which explained the situation at hand.

Miya simply nodded. She has tried, and failed every time to not melt the ice and fall in. Granted she dries off rather quick, but it ruins her clothes and hair still. And when he hair was ruined...Well that's another couple hours down the drain just fixing it.

"I'm still trying to learn how to control my powers, fire magic. However I do produce an abnormal amount of body heat from the vast reserves I have which is why there is a big melted circle around where I was sitting."

Cash? She always carried money around as she had buyer's impulse sometimes. A bad thing ot have when one spent almost all their time alone. But why was Ricky asking for cash? This was weird.

"Uh huh. Why? What do you have planned up there?"

Ricky smiled, pointing to the rental shack down the path. "I'm taking you skating." She pulled Miya down the path, stopping in front of a small building, if you could call it that. The shack was made of painted wood that may have been nice once upon a time, but was splintered, the white paint flaking off. The sign atop the roof had 'Skate Shack' painted in black, and the prices for skates were presented on a plywood sign next to the window. Ricky grimaced at the sight, hoping the skates weren't as bad as the building.

Ricky continued to drag Miya to the shack, stopping at the window. "Get yourself some skates," She nudged Miya, looking to the girl.

Miya blinked once. Then again. Skating? Didn't she just get finished telling her she could melt the ice accidentally? Miya didn't want to ruin the fun for others who were trying to skate. She had begun to protest but found herself being dragged away, making Miya think of Eve's habit of dragging her around.

At the shack it was....Someplace Miya would rather not shop. It looked shady and she wasn't exactly liking the fact that it looked like old wood. She began to zip up her longcoat as she didn't want excess heat catching the wood on fire in such a shabby place.

"You really want to go for a swim instead of skating don't you? Seems you own't take no for an answer, so I'll at least humor your. Who knows maybe instead of melting the ice I simply break through it."
