Noelle snapped her gum as she entered the student lounge. She'd been in there once before, when she'd first gotten here, but she decided that it would be nice to come back to it. Strangely she didn't see many people around, maybe one or two, but they seemed busy talking to themselves, or using the computers. She walked as far away as the room went from the people, and sat on the couch spreading her legs out. She felt awesome. She was wearing her favorite orange tank top, and despite the weather outside, black shorts. But her legs felt protected in her green and orange striped knee socks. She pulled out her green Mp-3 player and stuck her ear buds in. She scrolled through her list of songs, glancing up occasionally to make sure no one was around. She closed her eyes, enjoying the music for a few minutes when suddenly it stopped. "What in the tarnation is going on?" she said, speaking to her mp-3. The little battery symbol in the upper right hand corner flashed. "Low battery. Low battery? Can't a person do one thing without her tech devices failing on her? Seriously, how much do I have to charge you to get you to play for ten straight minutes!?" She stopped. She was yelling at a inanimate object. But what was that to stop her? "And don't you forget it!" she added throwing it down on the couch. She tapped her foot thinking about where the charger for it was .'I'm too lazy to go get it' she thought to herself.

She drummed her fingers on one of the small tables and picked up her device before sitting on the couch. "Well, I suppose it would help to turn it off" she said rolling her eyes, exasperated. She stretched her legs out onto the couch, once again and yawned. She looked out into the darkness outside, and despite the glare of the lamps, she could make out quiet and good amount of things. Some students looked like they were rushing around, going from place to place carrying their books. She watched them fight the wind and cold and smirked to herself, before turning to face the whole room again.

<div align=center>Green eyes scanned the pages of a battered book, scrawled across in an elegant foreign language. Slender fingers changed the page, soundlessly it landed on the last one he read. Bored, Alec snapped the book shut, the cover was dusty and worn, there was strange writing on the front and odd little images that might have depicted something or the other, though it wasn't really all that clear. Alec ran a hand through his hair, becoming disinterested with his environment. What was the time? Perhaps he should go to bed. His legs didn't comply with his thoughts though, and instead he remained lounged idly on the settee, a single leg bent upward at the knee. Alec's eyes shifted over the company within the room, no one of interest, he finally declared. The person that stood out to him post was a blue haired girl, she'd been yelling something or the other, though Alec hadn't really paid any attention.

Why is she talking to herself? He idly questioned, and shrugged it off, whatever. His fingers traced the strange lettering on the cover of his book, it was old and rough to touch, it had probably seen an awful lot of use over the years. He found himself unconsciously staring at the blue-haired girl, frowning ever so slightly when he realized. The cold didn't bother him usually, albeit he was used to warmer climates. A fur coat helped keep the chill off though, unfortunately he was not currently sporting it.</div>

Noelle jerked her head up a bit a she saw a guy sitting on a seat, closer to her than any other students. She wanted ask him what he was looking at, but she stopped instead. She paused for a second and looked at him carefully. 'Hey, not bad looking,' she thought, before she could stop herself. 'Get it together, and stay in character, no slip ups. Unless the need for it arises.' She stood up and sauntered over to the boy, holding her mp-3. She sat down on the nearest chair, and swung her legs over the arm of it. What exactly was her plan? Usually, she never talked to anyone unless they said something first, but she was interested in seeing how a conversation with this guy would go. Well, a leap of faith must be made once in life right?

"Sup? I'm Noelle. I haven't seen you around here before, you new?" She pulled her blue hair to one side and smiled in a slightly flirtatious manner. Ahh, she hadn't done anything like this in a while, of course, she never flirted with people really, but she never went in her "out-of-character-mood. She seemed to be doing it a lot at this school, however, maybe things were going to change.'Still gotta keep my cool though, it's part of me.' She embraced the unusual coolness of the room and smiled, watching the boy.

<div align=center>Alec bristled a little when the girl approached him, his brow creased, and his eyes narrowed just a little, in suspicion rather than anything else. What does she want? She was an attractive girl now that he looked at her properly, nicely formed with a pretty face. Alec cleared his throat softly, staring blankly at her until she spoke. You new? Alec shook his head, he supposed people didn't often see him, he could be called elusive he supposed, if you weren't in any of his classes you'd probably never seen him before. Alec liked to stay out of the way, humans asked an awful lot of questions, he found, he didn't like questions. What are your powers? Where did you come from?

"Noelle." He repeated softly. "Alec." He told her, lifting an eyebrow. He supposed a smile should follow a greeting, but it never managed to make it's way onto his face. His eyes flickered briefly to her legs, before focusing back on her face again. He thought it was strange for a human to have blue hair, then again, perhaps she wasn't human, he was convincing enough, wasn't he? He shifted, and changed position so his feet were placed neatly on the floor, the strange book in his lap.</div>

Noelle studied him closely as she sat. She didn't want to seem like a super bouncy energetic person, but she didn't want to seem like a creep either. He didn't seem very bubbly either, but that only made Noelle happier. He had nice colored skin, and she wanted to feel his hair, but that would probably come across as creepy. He introduced himself and she smiled. She was always interested in what people's names meant, and then she would decide if it suited them. Her name fit her pretty well, she was born in December, and she had powers to do with ice, but she didn't know if that had to do with anything.

"Alec you say? That's a nice name, but what does it mean? Some people don't know the meanings of their names. I'm not so sure I fit mine to well, I mean it means "born in the Christmas season, but most people associate Christmas as a happy time, and I don't really come along as happy... or nice."

She thought about it. 'I blame it on my brother' she thought. 'It's his fault for making me afraid of people, and scaring me at such a young age. Guess I never bounced back.' She'd never really thought about this before, such deep questions for her, all because she asked the meaning of a guy's name. 'i suppose that's a good thing about meeting new people.' She found that she couldn't stop looking at him. She gazed at him sorta with a blank zoned out expression, till her gaze fell to the book on his lap. She wondered what is was. Looked old. 'After he's done talking, you can ask him' She looked back at his face, giving him her attention.

<div align=center>Alec could feel the girl's eyes on him, it made him feel strange, not creeped out or uneasy, but strange. Humans still confused him, even after all this time, he was curious of them though. His facial expression remained more or less exactly the same throughout, blank, though that didn't mean he didn't want to talk to her, he was merely trying to figure her out. His name? Why would she care about his name? He thought that was an odd question to ask, though there was no reason not to answer it. "Guardian." He returned plainly, before thanking her for the compliment, adding a small smile to the end of his sentence.

She had probably mentally described him pretty well, he wasn't all that bouncy or excitable, and tended to spend most of his time on his own. If he did pick friends, he tended to pick the quieter ones that didn't bother him with a plethora of questions. If there was anything Alec despised, it was answering questions. This girl wasn't really bothering him, though, she was just chatting. Not happy or nice? He didn't think there was anything wrong with her attitude, she seemed nice enough to him.

Alec didn't know anything about her history, and she didn't know anything about his, which was probably for the best, since he most likely wouldn't care and he most certainly wouldn't want her to know anything about him. That wasn't a personal thing, of course. "I think Noelle is a nice name." He told her, quietly.</div>

There seemed to be something interesting about this guy. Noelle wanted to ask him questions, and talk to him all night, but she wasn't sure he'd feel the same way. She didn't know why, but something about him made him easy to talk too. She looked at the book once again. What was it about? she liked books, but not really boring ones. Text books were pretty boring. Books about snow and ice and winter sports were the best in her opinion. "Guardian" she whispered. "That's nice, you look like a guardian of some sort too, with your dark hair and nice green eyes. She loved to look into people's eyes, but usually it confused them, or made them feel intimidated. "Yea, I like my name well enough" she said shrugging. "What are you reading?" she asked, her gaze drifting to the book once again. It looked like, ancient to her, although she was never very good at guessing how old things, or people, were.

She yawned quietly, with her mouth closed, wondering what time it was. Not that she was really concerned, she was content to talk to Alec all night. Of course, if he didn't want to talk to her anymore, she supposed he would just say so, or make an excuse and leave. Then what would she do? Go for a night walk? Maybe pick up a book and head to bed? She hoped they'd be able to talk more, she'd just met him, but he was already fascinating to her.

<div align=center>Alec bristled a little at her comment about him looking like a guardian, though he didn't show it and he didn't say anything, she'd been complimenting him, so he merely smiled softly and thanked her. His eyes could probably resemble a cat or perhaps some kind of wild dog, they were pretty if you looked at them the right way, if you didn't they could just be straight up creepy. It all depended on what kind of mood Alec was in, as it happened, he was in a good mood at the moment, he'd had no outbursts today, which was always a good thing. Alec's outbursts could be downright frightening, especially if you were the point of his anger.

"Oh. My book?" He glanced down at it, picked it up, and passed it to her to look through. Not that she'd be able to understand it. The language was strange and instead of words, there were pictures all along the pages, some might have called them Hieroglyphics. He didn't say anything else about it though, only stated that it was old, he apologized for the quality of it. The pictures inside were strange too, but there was a strange air of beauty to all of it that made the book exciting to read, regardless of whether you could understand it or not. As it happened, Alec could understand it perfectly.</div>

Noelle actually hoped that he took her saying he looked like his name as a compliment, because that's how she meant it. She was in a surprisingly happy mood talking to Alec, and she felt a strange vibe of laughter go through her. She reached out and and grasped the book carefully. She didn't want to mess it up, because it kinda looked like it could fall in pieces. "Oh, it's okay, I like old things, their neat." She turned the book over and looked at it,interested. She Opened it and flipped the pages. After some observation she said "their hieroglyphics aren't they? I can't read them, but I've learned about them before in school" she said smiling. She carefully handed the old book back to him and pulled her knee socks up, because they had twisted down a bit. She blew a bubble and swung her legs as she though of the symbols she had seen on the page. Come to think of it, Alec looked like he could be from around that area, probably another country, but he had dark hair, and not too light skin, and spoke with an accent.

"say, now that I think about it, are you form around there, or a country near there? Your appearance seems so, and you talk with a nice accent. Take it as a compliment." Noelle loved accents, and he had a nice one. She could listen to him talk a lot, and still love it.

<div align=center>I like old things. That for some reason, made Alec laugh. A thought crossed his mind that said: no wonder she approached me. You probably wouldn't have been able to decipher Alec's age from the way he looked though, most assumed he was nineteen or twenty. The actual number, however, was absolutely no where near either of those. He nodded when she asked of they were hieroglyphics, there was no use lying, since that is exactly what they were. "I can read them." He responded softly, though she'd probably already guessed that due to the fact that he had in fact, been reading the book before she had approached him.

"Egypt." He answered softly, carefully. That was another thing that wasn't much secret, though. He looked foreign, he sounded foreign. It was like trying to hide an elephant in a cottage, impossible. He'd seen people over his life that could change everything about themselves, their skin, their voice, their hair, even their very appearance. He was limited, though, and could only switch between three possible forms, one of which he didn't think anyone in this school had ever, or would ever see. There's no need for them to. He smiled when she told him she liked his accent, "I don't notice it." He returned, "to me, it sounds like you have an accent."</div>
