He stepped around a corner, stumbling ever so slightly, he wasn't really sure how it happened, one moment he was doing well, ignoring the Shadow's rants, ignoring his past, soldiering on, but it had all began to hit him hard. As he walked he noticed a woman climbing onto a motorcycle out of the corner of his eye, distracted he didn't notice a light pole which his shoulder glanced off of. He grunted and stumbled back a bit, a flask slipped from his pocket and bounced to the woman, though James didn't seem to notice. He held his head and shook it a bit trying to clear it, needless to say he was a bit of a mess.

It wasn't until the flask hit her boot that she looked around and realized she wasn't alone, well she could just ignore him and drive home like most would but that wasn't wasn't her. Getting off of her Harley, then she took of her helmet to leave it on the saddle.

"Hey, buddy!" She walked closer "You a'ight? Do you have someone I can call?" Hopefully she could call his parents, guardian, sibling or someone, being drunk alone is no fun and to this degree. On second thought, it was a kid, drunk and alone. He was either a runaway, was in trouble or a little bit of both. "How about I get you something to eat, like a hamburger or pizza and you tell me all about it?" There was an "it" she just didn't know what it was and if she could get him to eat and drink he would get a little bit soberer and maybe then she could help him. She was like that, always taking in stray kids in need.

He looked toward the mysterious woman, completely unaware that she had already figured out that he was drunk, "call someone?" he asked, not quite slurred but you could tell that he had been drinking. He shook his head, he supposed she could call the school or Nyota, "no I'm fine," he lied as most teenagers would. He could hear the shadow chuckling in the back of his mind, he ignored the creature.

He squinted at her when she offered to feed him, no one had ever offered to feed him before, I BROKE YOU BOY! he flinched a bit at the shadow's screaming into his mind but ignored it, even in his slightly drunk state he was happy no one could hear the creature scream. He refocused his attention back to the woman, "I...ugh....I guess some food would be nice," a single small shadow tentacle appeared on his shoulder as he thought about this situation.

He shook his head again trying to clear the mental fog, "I'm James," he looked at her his confused look still on his face.

She had not only encountered all levels of drunkenness on her job, not to mention that she had in her younger days experienced them first hand, on multiple occasions. Yes, she knew all about it, especially when a bottle is coming her way, though usually it is thrown at her.

When she heard him saying that he was fine she ti ted her weight slight more on her right leg and crossed her arms "Mhmm, so you are fine, ey?". She scanned him from toe to head "Then what the hell are you doing here? Drunk to boot. It isn't cool.". Oh snap, she sounded like her adoptive mother "Hey, look, I just want to help. The name is Jessica Jones, but call me Jay.." She got silent all of a sudden, something had gotten her attention.. "Uh, you got a.. A little something on your shoulder".

"I'm not drunk," he said with a light but noticeable slur, he looked at her, he just couldn't wrap his mind around why the woman was being kind to him, she didn't know him, she didn't have a reason to care.

He listened as she introduced herself, and then she seemed to notice something on his shoulder, "yea the tentacle is normal......well...not normal, but it is what it is," the Shadow chuckled in the background as if it was just sitting waiting for a chance to torment.

He leaned against the light pole he had just ran into looking at this stranger who's level of kindness he had never seen before, "I'm James."

She was curious about the thing on the boys shoulder but since James had said it was normal, well maybe normal for him in a place like Manta Carlos, she decided to at least try to ignore it, for now. She also knew from firsthand experience that most kids out late at night, would have a reason and may start a fight to prove that they aren't what they are accused of, even if it isn't really an accusation.

Instead of copying the cops and telling him to say the alphabet backwards or other such exercises she ignored the fact that he was drunk and told her he wasn't, because she just wanted to help and arguing does the opposite of that.

"Why don't you take the helmet and ill drive us to a place where we can eat." She pointed to the Harley and the helmet on the seat, It wasn't so much a question as a suggestion.

He looked from her to the helmet, still very confused at the situation, despite his self hatred James was actually a really good person, but he just wasn't use to being around other people, he was used to being around cruel, evil people who treated him like garbage, like something to be used.

He approached the motorcycle slowly, the tentacle on his shoulder diving low and grabbing his fallen flask, James picked up the helmet and then looked back to Jays, "why.....why are you doing this?" He cocked his head at her, "we don't know each other."

Despite his confusion he pulled the helmet on and climbed onto the motorcycle.

Why did she do it? Was it an answer she could provide? Did she do it out of kindness? No, she wasn't a saint, she did however know trouble in many of its forms and wouldn't want it on anyone. While she pondered how to answer that simple but yet complex question she followed in Jamse's footsteps and climbed onto her Harley.

"Hold on to something" There where few options as he could either hold onto the back or on her hips, those new at riding a bike often feel safer by holding the one driving though if they have been a passager before then they may be more relaxed. "Maybe you remind me of myself when I was young" The answer to the question from before. She lifted the Harley from its support, kicked it up, then started it and drove away. You would need to speak loud in order to make yourself heard.

He didn't say anything when she said that he reminded her of her younger self, he wasn't stupid enough to think that he and the other orphans were the only ones to experience such hardships.

His shoulder tentacle shot down and took a hold of the motorcycle in order to support James, the tentacles were basically extra hands, pretty useful. "Never ridden a motorcycle before," it was true, Garret had a truck to drop the thieves off at certain points in Ashton city, but never a motorcycle.

He remained silent as the motorcycle pulled away, though the cold air helped clear his head a bit he was still quite drunk. He looked to his left and watched as they passed the buildings. In truth James wasn't picky when it came to food, true he had his favorites, but he had grown up having to eat what was given or starve.

The side effects of heavily partying had lead to a waking nightmare, she assumed that that was why she had entered rehab al those years ago, but honestly she had memory gaps and where she had memories, well they where fuzzy at best. What she did remember was rehab and the demons of her past choices. One demon she had was the actual nightmares that plagued her dreams, however the second demon took a physical form.

She had kept this hidden, a secret, because if the authorities would find out they would take her license and her precious Harley. This was one of those times when her hand shook, she had over time learnt to let go of the steering with that hand. As she let go she lost the balance and wiggled from left to right, about one inch from crashing with a car on the left then about three inches away from crashing with the car on the right side.

Increasing the speed for better control, she thinks that most vehicle accidents happens because people break or slow down, making them loose even more control, she had seen it so many times. By chance they where close to a pizza place, because if they weren't she would need to pull over somewhere else and check on James. After pulling over she swore as she got off of the Harley, then she proceeded to inspect the boy. Touching him on limbs, torso and head, searching for blood or any injuries then proceeding to take liberties, taking his head and holding an eye open with two fingers, checking the pupil.

She was scared, not for her sake or about her secret coming out, but scared the boy could have been injured and with a worried voice she asked "Are you alright? You didn't get hurt, did you?"
