Breath, Tyler. Just breath. Everything will be fine. Everything's already fine.

This was the mantra Tyler kept repeating to himself. He arrived the island at midnight in hopes of meeting less people on the way to... wherever he was supposed to go. He didn't know where he was going to stay to be honest. He was lucky he even managed to get a room at some random hotel, but he can't stay there forever. He hoped this 'Starlight Academy' had dorms.

The boat trip had been okay for the most part. Tyler was used to it, thanks to the many fishing trips he used to go on with his mom. His mom. He curled his fists on his lap as he thought about the incident. He always thought that people acted differently around him, but it was that incident that made everything clear. Well, that and the traveling psychic who told him all about his ability. Tyler possessed some kind of power that just made everyone around him... crazy. Or maybe crazier. And if that same psychic was to be believed, his only chance at being able to control his ability was found here, on some random island in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

He shook his head, trying to dispel the doubt that was starting to form in his mind. This was his only chance at being able to live a normal life without people going insane around him. He had to believe in this 'Starlight Academy'. If he didn't, then he was sure no one else was going to be able to help him.

Tyler made sure to arrive earlier than normal students would. He can't risk making anyone insane so early in his stay. Better safe than sorry. He bit his lip and glanced at the tall gates of the academy. He nervously pulled down the sleeves of his navy blue sweater as he looked around. 'Well, the gates are open. And there seems to be some people inside. Oh, I just hope they're staff.' He thought as he walked inside.

Tyler looked around and nervously scratched his wavy black hair. 'Looks like a parking lot.' He kept glancing around furtively while he walked, trying to find his way around. Suddenly, he spotted it. He read the building's name again to make sure he got it right. 'The Administration, School Offices and Help Desk. In other words, the Admissions Office!' he thought with a cheer and started running towards the building.

He stepped inside, his light blue hi tops making soft squeaks against the tiled floor as he looked around for someone to help him.

RE: Everything's Fine

The first day he arrived and got settled, it was the school's beautiful grounds that made Adam want to take a walk around campus. Usually his reasons were to catch up with the news and meet new people. This time, it's because he has never before seen anything as magical as this, literally. And although he was still fairly new here, he's proud to say he's already met a lot of good people and seen his fair share of the place.

Three days since his arrival, in the early morning, he'd gone to the Admissions Office to ask a few questions to get some things clear before the day. Apparently, the office was open 24/7. Adam was just leaving when he happened to hear a set of footsteps nearing the area.

Adam looked at the newcomer and automatically offered a bright smile. He walked towards the boy with a warmth that some people swore had to be his superpower. Maybe it was. Or maybe Adam just really loved being able to make lots of new friends. After all, Friendship is Magic. And if this place isn't magical enough, then having a lot of friends and acquaintances was sure to make it ever more, er... magical.

"Hello," he said as he stepped closer to the thin, almost malnourished-looking boy. There was wariness in his eyes, but Adam ignored that. He's still ignorant of the superpowers that may affect him, after all, because as far as he's seen, not a lot of powers seemed dangerous at all.

And besides, there was another look beneath the caution that showed the other needed some sort of help. Almost always, the reason people showed that emotion is because they were lost. Since Adam had already figured out where most of the places here are, he figured he could help the new kid around. "You look like you're new here, too," he said, extending a hand out to the other. "I'm Adam."

RE: Everything's Fine

"Hello."

Tyler nearly jumped. He looked at the person who approached him. He was taller than him. Black hair, brown eyes, and friendly grin. What surprised him the most was the huge scar running through his eye. He looked... nice.

"You look like you're new here, too. I'm Adam."

"I'm Ty-" Tyler's eyes widened as he realized something. He immediately turned away from the other boy and raised his arms as if he were shielding his face. "Don't look at me! Please!" He had forgotten. How could he have forgotten?! His powers were dangerous! He should just stay away from this nice, friendly person and quickly talk to a teacher about controlling his powers. Maybe he could get a power nullifier or something. 'I mean, this is supposed to be some kind of magical place with all those magic amulets and magic spells and magic potions, right? It can't be that hard to find something that could negate this stupid power!' Tyler thought as he bit his lip. The sooner he could control his power, the better.

"M-my power's dangerous... so please, um, leave me alone!" Tyler backed away from Adam a bit, not wanting to harm him. He seriously needed to find someone, anyone, who could help him at least weaken his powers. As of now, he's a walking hazard. What was this guy even doing here so early in the morning?! He was pretty sure classes don't start at 6:30 in the morning!

"I, uh, gotta go!" Tyler turned around hastily and tried to walk away, only to find himself tripping on his own feet in the process. 'Damn it!' he thought as he braced himself for impact.

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

Maybe it was the way the new guy had reacted that Adam felt a little... strange. He swallowed thickly before he felt the unstoppable urge to giggle. He bit his lip. Something was funny. The color of the walls, the almost empty place, that strange plant in the corner. They were all funny. He didn't why he found them funny, but he did. And he laughed to himself, hand going to his stomach to clutch at it.

He didn't even take notice of the other's words until he saw him turning to leave. And then... he was falling over his own feet. And that was hysterical.

Adam knew it was mean of him to be doing that, but it was just so funny that he couldn't help himself. Absolutely hilarious! The scene kept replaying in Adam's mind and it just continued to tickle him until he was bending over his knees and gasping.

Once he's reined in his laughter, he approached the boy. He was still grinning from all that laughter, but he was trying his best not to imagine the scene over and over again. He really did try. He chuckled to himself one last time before he shook his head to clear his mind and let out a breath.

"I'm sorry. That was mean. I don't know what came over me," He said sincerely, his smile a little smaller now, but still the same friendly one. "Are you okay?" He asked, with a bit of a snort. Something was still tickling him, urging him to laugh. But he pushed that away and offered a hand to help the other up.

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

"I'm sorry. That was mean. I don't know what came over me. Are you okay?"

Tyler blinked and slowly nodded. 'This is... new,' he thought as he dumbly took the offered hand. He certainly did not expect this. Crying and screaming he was familiar with. Throwing things around and shouting he was familiar with. Hell, talking to one's self was one of the more welcomed effects of his power. But, laughing? At nothing? And not in a really creepy and insane I'm-going-to-murder-you or I-was-just-imagining-how-funny-your-dead-corpse-would-look-like way? 'Well,' Tyler thought as he was helped up by Adam, who still looked as if he was going to burst into laughter at any moment, 'this is definitely one of the better sides of insanity I've seen.'

"Um, thanks," he let go of Adam's hands. "Oh!" Tyler's eyes widened in realization. "Um, I've never really properly introduced myself. My name's, uh, Tyler. Tyler Colten." He said in a soft, embarrassed tone. 'Stupid idiot. You can't even remember to introduce yourself. Stupid, stupid, stupid idiot.' Tyler mentally berated himself as he started to pull down the sleeves of his sweater, something he did whenever he was nervous.

"Um, thanks. For, you know, helping me out." Tyler tried to give the stranger a small smile. 'Stupid idiot, you already thanked him! He probably thinks you're some kind of dumb airhead now!'

"So, um," he looked at the guy in front of him, whose smile was starting to look kinda crazed at the moment, and bit his lip. He decided to look down at the floor instead to avoid eye contact. One of the few things he knew about his power was that eye contact made it much more effective. "You're.. also new here, huh?"

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

Adam grinned from both that unexplainable feeling and from the progress he's made with this guy because now, at least he isn't turning away. Adam thought the other actually looked a little surprised for a moment there before he'd given his name.

Tyler Colten.

"It's okay," he said, amused by the other's repetitive word of thanks. He dismissed them with a wave of his hand. "You're welcome. My bad for laughing though."

The words that Tyler said earlier went back to Adam's mind and he wondered what this man's powers were. So far, he seemed normal. No weird hair coming alive, no strange spirits emitting from him, not even a weird skin color. He wondered if they had the same power--enhanced strength and agility. 'Maybe he can control elements,' Adam mused as he felt that strange need to laugh again. He pursed his lips, though it didn't stop them from curving up into a smile.

"I am," he said when the other spoke again. He decided that those questions could wait. For now, he was mostly wondering why Tyler would come here so early. "So what brings you here at 6:30 in the morning?"

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

"So what brings you here at 6:30 in the morning?"

Tyler bit his lip as he continued staring at the floor. Should he tell him? He glanced up briefly to look at Adam's face. He was still smiling at him, as if he amused him. He seemed like a nice person. But what if he wasn't? What if it was just his power giving Adam this weird behavior? 'I mean, yeah, my power's probably making him all smiley and giggly, but what if that behavior is just what's making me think he's nice?' he pondered and then glanced back down at the floor. 'What if he starts thinking I'm a freak?'

"I just... I wanted to, um..." Tyler trailed off nervously. He noticed that he was pulling at his sleeves and stopped, making his arms hang awkwardly instead. He perked up as he got an idea and looked at Adam's face again, still taking care not to make eye contact with the other student's brown eyes. "I wanted to see if there were any available dorms." Technically, he wasn't lying. He had planned to ask about available housing. And what Adam doesn't know can't hurt him.

"I was planning to ask someone from the staff, and I, um, didn't want to bother them when they're busy. And I figured since there are fewer students at this time, they'd be less... busy." Tyler rambled. He had to talk to a teacher fast about his powers. Or else someone else might turn crazy. And it might not even be this tolerable kind of crazy. 'Speaking of which...' Tyler saw that Adam was still smiling and it was turning a bit crazier than he liked. "Do you, um, feel anything weird? O-or something?" he asked, hoping Adam didn't take offense to his inquiry

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

Adam perked up when the other told him what he was here for. He himself was in need of a roommate and Tyler seemed like a nice guy, though he seems like he's constantly nervous about something, kind like a paranoid.

"I'm not sure about that though. I think at this time the staff will still be a little sleepy," he said, half-kidding. "But hey, if you're looking for a dorm, you can room with me."

He shrugged a little as he gave the offer, not knowing yet if maybe Tyler had a specific person he wanted to dorm with. Who knew if this guy had some friends already in the campus? That wasn't a funny thought but Adam chuckled anyway. Tyler probably thought he was crazy for laughing for no obvious reason. That one was a little funny for some reason, but Adam kept his chuckling to himself this time.

His eyebrows went up as the other asked about how he was feeling. "Hm... Guess I do feel a little weird," he said after a thoughtful pause. "I'm not usually this... er, jolly? I don't randomly laugh about nothing, I swear. And I'm not that mean." He winced when he remembered how hilarious he found it when Tyler tripped.

RE: Everything's Fine (OPEN)

Tyler blinked again. Room with Adam? He bit his lip and started to pull at his sleeves again. 'Well, my powers don't seem to have that bad of an effect on him,' he looked around and saw that no one seemed interested in their conversation, probably because it looked like the two of them didn't need any help. He looked back at Adam's scarred face and thought long and hard. On one hand, rooming with Adam saved him from a lot of hassle. On the other, the risk was on Adam's sanity.

"Hm... Guess I do feel a little weird. I'm not usually this... er, jolly? I don't randomly laugh about nothing, I swear. And I'm not that mean."

Tyler worried his lower lip. He really, really, really seemed like a nice guy. He can't risk making him insane just because he can't control his powers. That is unless...

He looked up and stared at Adam's chestnut eyes, forgetting about avoiding eye contact. If Adam was as friendly as he thought he was, then he probably knew people. Maybe he knew people who could help him. "Alright, I guess I could, um, share a dorm with you. I-if it's alright that is." Tyler told him. "But I need to talk to someone first about my powers. Do you think you could help me? Maybe?" He asked hopefully. "I-it's alright though if you can't," Tyler raised his hands in front of him, "I mean, I'm not saying I would no longer room with you if you don't help me, but I would, um, appreciate it if you could!" Tyler lowered his eyes and his hands, staring at his hi top sneakers. 'Great, I probably blew it. It's a wonder someone even offered to room with me.' He thought dejectedly as he curled his fists at his sides.

RE: Everything's Fine

In the few moments Tyler looked unsure about Adam's offer, the latter had thought that he would be rejected. Not that it would matter to him. If Tyler already had a roommate in mind, then it wouldn't be a problem at all. Adam would just have to try his luck next--

"Cool," Adam said when Tyler agreed shyly. Slowly he started to surmise if this was what Tyler's power was. Of course, it wasn't bad. Who wouldn't want to have the power to make people happy? Maybe not happy to the point that they're hysterical upon seeing the wallpaper or someone else trip. That would just be bad. But it wasn't that bad of a power at all once it was maybe muted to a degree.

Another fit of hysterical laughter wanted to bubble up from inside him. He coughed into a fist to stop it and settled for the least he could do about this strange thing that was happening to him. He simply grinned, though it was obvious he was holding his laughter.

"Who do you need to talk about your powers to?" he asked with genuine curiosity. "I might have already met them."
