Jude winced slightly, but he couldn't exactly disagree, either. Humanity was destructive, and they did seem to go out of their way to nearly get everyone killed on a exceptionally regular basis. He didn't usually point it out or anything, but...

Well, he didn't disagree.

Jude had never been big on films or TV beforehand. He'd been too busy with school and extra-curriculars, and after that? Well...

"Well, back at home I actually had a job," Jude admitted, sounding fairly reluctant to talk about the whole thing. It wasn't that he was embarrassed or anything, just that people tended to react... strongly. "It probably doesn't make much sense in the context of this world, but I worked as a... a teenage superhero, back at home. Not vigilantism, really, but that was... a whole job for us. Like, a normal profession."

He was expecting a lot of confusion. That tended to be the standard.

Ezra stared.

Unblinking and unwavering, glowing green eyes focused on Jude's face for what could seem like an eternity. The spirit slowly processed what they had been told, trying to fully comprehend the meaning behind the explanation. Jude was a super hero? But that wasn't a normal profession in this world, according to their friend. That was a rather curious profession, though, was it not? So many questions arose from this new information, but there was a concern that Ezra could not overlook.

"As a professional teenage superhero, would you not be in a lot of danger? I do not understand why fully functional adult heroes would need teenagers to go out and face the same kind of danger unless there was such a shortage of heroes to fight the villains. I have more questions as well, but that one is the most important to me at the current moment."

Oh. They were doing that thing, the thing where they just stared for ages and tried to think about how that all worked. Jude got that a lot, which was part of the reason he was so hesitant to say it.

"Well," Jude said, "There was kind of a shortage, but to a certain extent they thought... Well, we were going to do it anyway, so they might as well let us-"

"Angelo Genovese?" A secretary called, making Jude cringe as he did, standing up.

"Sorry," he said quickly with a glance towards Ezra, "that's me. But I'll see you around later?"

Ezra visibly jumped as the secretary called for an "Angelo Genovese". They had been so engrossed with Jude's answer and the next possible question that they had forgotten where they were. As their friend stood up at the mention of the name, the spirit couldn't help but tilt their head. Wasn't their name Jude? Maybe Jude was a nickname of some kind, or some other anomaly? He did imply that he was from another world, so maybe he goes by a different name due to dimensional discrepancies?

With a small nod, Ezra rose to their feet. Before Jude could head into the office, the spirit would envelop the teenager in a quick hug. Enjoying the brief warmth once more, the spirit would step back and pull Salem into their arms. "Farewell, Mister Jude. Hopefully your meeting will go better than mine. And I am sure our paths will cross again." The spirit gave a small bow before making their way out of the waiting room and towards home once more.
