With his mother’s Mexican heritage, he boasts a nice tan but he is unsure of how much is from his mother and how much is from his father, who he knows very little about.
Gabriel prefers simple clothing, as he and his mother did not have a lot of money. So, he is content with whatever fits him comfortably. In conjunction with his abilities, he does prefer clothing that is very durable or easily replaceable, as his ‘Ent Armor’ can shred clothes easily if he gets into a prolonged fight. One thing he carries multiple of, however, is a cheap medical mask due to his abnormally pointed teeth. When his powers manifested, his normal adult teeth fell out and were replaced by a row of razor sharp fangs.

Those that he would put his trust in, however, he trusts absolutely and would do whatever to support them. Despite his wariness, deep down, he is desperate to connect with people and live as normal a life as possible. When the world as he knew it ended, escaping with his mother and not much else, Gabe decided that he would turn his life around and never go back to doing underhanded things for money. However, he is terrified at the idea of having his identity discovered as a criminal and being taken from his mother. They are the only two left of their family and the idea of being separated from her is utterly terrifying. He also is a romantic deep down and enjoys romantic movies and books, but doesn’t bring it up and is embarrassed if it’s discovered.

Plant Manipulation: Gabriel’s main ability is the manipulation of plants. He is able to harness any plant form within his vicinity in order to attack or defend with as if it were an extension of his body. Plants under his manipulation are sturdier than normal, as trees sprouted by his ability can be twice as sturdy as those grown naturally. However, the strength is dependent on his focus, so if he’s growing quickly, the strength of the plants fades. He can also grow plants directly from his body, but it can be physically draining if done rapidly. One of the most common things he used this ability for was to create a wooden mask that enveloped his face.
Ent Armor (AKA ‘The Groot Suit’): The ability he is most known for back in the old universe, Gabriel brings forth a suit of armor made from a tree in order to go into combat. Despite being a large suit of armor made of wood, Gabe is able to move quite quickly in the armor and bring the pain. However, controlling it for long periods of time can be stressful and although he is quite fast, his vision is obscured so it becomes much more difficult to see at times.
Eden’s Gardener (Active): By connecting with and focusing on plant life within a specific area, Gabriel is able to accelerate and amplify the growth of various plants at a significant rate. He can make flowers bloom much larger and (in his opinion) more beautifully than a natural growth, and fruits and vegetables he uses this ability on seem to look and taste better.
Passive Abilities:
Eden’s Gardener (Passive): Gabriel is naturally (get it?) attuned with nature, and plants around him seem to perk up slightly being in his presence. It’s a very faint shift, but if he stays by a plant for multiple days, it generally does better health-wise and even dying plants seem to pull away from the brink of death if nearby long enough.
Regeneration: If connected to actual earth and nearby plant life, Gabriel is able to regenerate from wounds at a quicker than normal pace compared to the average human. If a wound takes three days to heal normally, it would only take Gabriel two days to recover fully. If in sunlight, the regeneration seems to go much faster versus the moonlight or limited light.
Plant Diagnostics: Gabriel has a supernatural sense to figure out what is ailing plant life, whether it be an infestation or a plague, or even a plant just not getting enough sunlight or water. He says he can hear their ‘voice’, but it’s not clear if it’s an actual voice or just some form of mental communication.

Catalina had run her flower shop for a few years, but it had been a family business for three generations by the time she took over. However, living in the world they did, their family had vanished due to criminal activity until it was only Catalina and Gabriel left. So the mother and son duo worked as hard as they could, keeping the shop running while Gabriel also went to school to get a proper education.
But times grew tough, and Catalina made the mistake of trusting the wrong sort of people. Now indebted to a very dangerous loan shark operation, Catalina faced losing the family business or her life. Gabriel secretly stepped in and agreed to do a few less-than-ethical type jobs for the crew in exchange for being released from the debt. Most of the time, the jobs would consist of minor thefts, but occasionally, Gabriel (using the name Ent as his villain identity) would have to beat down someone who wouldn’t (or couldn’t) pay their debt in time. The crew would eventually send him away to meet with another team that had been built for a heist, and Gabriel was surprised to see his best friend, now going by the name of Condor, among this team.
Gabriel was unsure of how long this ‘job opportunity’ was going to loom over his head, but when the skies darkened and the world began to crumble, the former villain known as Ent had immediately stopped caring about the debt and focused on saving his mother. The two were reunited through the chaos, and Gabe quickly built a temporary shelter using his abilities until they could figure out their next move.
As if saved by a divine power, an alert came out that they could escape through a portal to another dimension. The mother and son duo quickly evacuated with others of Halcyon City, and they find themselves without anything but the clothes on their backs and their lives. Although they are now in a strange new world, Gabriel isn’t very worried. Nature finds a way, after all.
Resources: Due to being refugees from his dying world, Gabriel has next to nothing. However, the island is providing aid for him and his mother, and his mother’s goal to re-open her flower shop to provide a proper income will hopefully get them to a better position financially.
