Tree Lighting Ceremony: Official Event Thread

June was rather attentive and quided Peace as she needed, not even complaining even when she almost lost her balance. Not that he was ever really the type to complain anyway. She didn't feel hesitant around him, and if he could actually tell, that he was most likely correct in that assumption. June had to bite back another unpleasant thought. While they skated side by side, he still took the lead for them, letting her casually follow after him.

"This is my third year here," he replied to answer her query, his next words sounded like they were more to himself, "I am considering staying longer after I graduate next year, but we'll see." He turned to face her, equally curious, "I gather you haven't been here very long?"

Peace was gliding into a comfortable rhythm and was happy for June to take the lead. She hadn't expected to be spending the evening learning how to ice skate. Actually, she didn't know what she had planned on doing that evening, attending a festival alone, but it certainly wasn't what she was doing.

"Third year, so you've been here a while," she replied to June's answer, before wondering, was it really that long? She had stayed in places for much longer than just three years, but everyone she had met so far had been quite new. "Oh, where would you go otherwise?" Did gifted creatures generally find a place among humans on Earth? She assumed it would be far easier to live among similar beings.

As June turned to face her, she again looked at her feet. He was so confident looking anywhere as he skated. She silently vowed to continue practicing ice skating past that night so she could glide around with grace like he did. She lifted her eyes to speak to him, saying, "I'm quite new, yes. I've been here for..." She thought about how long she had lived in Manta Carlos for. "A month, I believe." And depending on how much she liked it here and of course what other Gods were doing, she planned to stay for much longer.

"Years passed by pretty quick honestly. I'd probably go back home to the U.S. if I don't stay here at all," June replied casually. He missed his family if he had to be honest. Manta Carlos was wonderful but he had ties back home he couldn't quite let go of yet. "I haven't been having real issues as of late, and the academy has done me well with my abilities over the years. I'm pretty sure I can live normally back out there again if I actually tried."

On the other hand, "A month's rather short — I'm guessing you haven't been around the city very much then?" he mused inquisitively. He found it endearing how she seemed rather timid to him. Of course he wouldn't just say that — not right now at least. He kept his lead, guiding her around the turns just as smoothly, "I'd offer to tour you around if you'd like. Have you been liking your stay so far?"
