The word supplier made the whole thing sound a lot sketchier than Anastasia had thought it was, although she was quick to make note of the information. Cabel. What he 'supplied' would obviously be hard to figure out without asking, but it was worth keeping in mind.

Anastasia screwed up her face in confusion at Lochlann's question, genuinely confused for a moment. It was only then that she realized, and let out a little snort. "A human. Before I arrived here I thought there were only humans, and I'm not quite Russian enough to be wrestling bears." No one really wrestled bears. The claws alone would tear you apart, even if you managed to keep away from the jaws.

She found herself slightly edgy when he climbed up to sit on the banister. It was the exact kind of stupid thing she would disapprove of, and it no doubt showed on her face, even if it might be construed as disapproval of Cabel's get-you-what-you-need service. She didn't like when people did risky, pointless things like hanging over edges, and when he suddenly fell - toppling backwards when he intended to - she shot forward.

Anastasia was fast, and her reflexes were good. Her heart pounded in her ears as she collided with the railing. There were no theatrics. No jumping over the ledge to try and grab on. She'd been too far from him to ever have a chance of catching him. Unless he'd caught a hold of the ledge, he was likely already on the ground.

He was floating. He had fallen, and now he was floating back towards her, getting gradually closer before finally settling himself back on the roof. Magic. Magic had brought him back. Magic had stopped his apparent accident.

Magic would not stop her fist.

Anastasia was not going to just take the offered hand and jump off a roof. No, instead she took a strong step forward to put her beside Lochlann, and then she slammed her fist into his gut, her own face twisted with fury.

"I'm going to fall off the roof, how funny!" She snapped. "Did you not think that it might be distressing to watch you fall off the roof without warning?" She was good and angry now, and while she had no intention of slugging Lochlann again, she was still tense, holding herself stiff.

Anastasia wasn't the only one who bolted forward.

Lochlann knew Adelene easily worried about him. He should know how she felt like she was going to have a hard attack as she ran to the edge of the roof with Anastasia and stood there looking down, not knowing what to do. He did say the roof had magic but... he jumped down too suddenly, and Adelene was just not prepared for that.

Her face was twisted into an expression filled with confusion, worry, fear, and anger. Her eyebrows hurt for wrinkling too low above her nose, and her eyes that kept themselves fixed on Lochlann as he fell and flew back up. She didn't have to do anything else though. Anastasia already gave him a punch he seriously deserved, and Adelene stood behind him, still a little shocked, still a little angry. But nothing bad happened, and that was enough reason for her to force herself to calm down.

What if the spell wasn't set up and he fell for real? was the question that took over her head and made all of this scary. She was on Anastasia's side on this one.

"One mistake and you could've died, Loch," she said, despite her rattled voice. Unlike Anastasia, she couldn't be a tough person while being angry at Lochlann. "You could've thrown something else instead of yourself. That... That was reckless..."

The last thing Lochlann expected was Anastasia's fist in his gut.

It answered his questions about her fighting prowess because he doubled over, spots danced on the edge of his vision, and he felt a horrible sinking feeling like he might want to throw up or sit down.

The motion of her bunch was more than enough to unbalance him and he almost fell off the edge again, so instead, Lochlann did sit down, clutching his gut while he waited for the breath to return to his lungs.

He wondered if it'd still hurt this bad if he was a horse. He wondered how fast she could run. Interesting, very, very, interesting.

"I gave you a warning," he huffed, once his breath had returned. "I told you the roof was spelled, and then I said this was the best part. If I was going to kill myself, do you really think I'd do it in front of my best friend and a stranger?"

No. He wouldn't do it where anyone could see. Lochlann shook his head.

"It doesn't work the same with objects--it catches the small ones easier, but it's better with something bigger, and it's fun," He said, uncrossing his arms.

He looked a little bit hurt, but it was unclear how much of it had to do with Anastasia's punch to the gut.

"Addy, I thought you of all people would trust me here," Lochlann said. He sighed and leaned back, looking over the edge again. "The spell always works. I do this a lot. Seriously, try it with me."

He held out his hands to the ladies, and then Lochlann had to pull out the card he didn't want to play.

"You're not...afraid of heights, are you?"

Anastasia was not the sort of person who usually lost her temper. It took something monumentally stupid or spiteful to make her, and Lochlann had managed to make her do just that. It was obvious enough that she wasn't the only one upset, although Adelene sounded more upset than angry.

"Saying something is spelled means nothing. I have been on this island for less than twenty four hours, and you expect the first conclusion that I jump to would be 'ah yes, the roof must be spelled so that he will fly right back up?'" She didn't punch him again, but she did vigorously jab her finger in his direction. "There is such a thing as an accident, no? Or am I to believe that your special power is that you are immune to accidents?" The angrier she got, the heavier her accent seemed to get.

Even worse, he was persisting in his stupid game, and Anastasia let out a huff, crossing her arms. "I am not jumping off any roof. For all you know, my own power would nullify the magic that brings you back up." Beyond that, Anastasia disliked the very idea of doing something that was dangerous just because she should have survived. Things went wrong. Things like jumping off a roof, or jumping out of a plane, or jumping with a stupid bit of elastic tied to your feet. "I am not so quick to gamble with my life." Especially not with something she knew next to nothing about.

Adelene sighed, patting Lochlann's shoulders. He did want them, and that was why Adelene wasn't as violently angry as Anastasia was. Fear wasn't something she could've controlled in a short matter of time though, right? She sighed. She was just glad there had been no accident, but she understood completely where Anastasia was coming from.

She actually wanted to indulge Lochlann's whim, but she figured Anastasia's thoughts were more important at the moment. "We can do that once Anastasia can uh.... trust the environment more, alright?" she asked, taking Lochlann's hand to squeeze it with assurance, before letting go and approaching Anastasia.

"Anastasia," she called softly, hoping the girl would already calm down. "Can't blame you for getting angry. I understand why. But please forgive Lochlann. He was reckless but he was only trying to show something.... out of the ordinary."

In a sense, she was pissed off that Anastasia had to punch Lochlann. But if she were in the same situation, being foreign to a place and being shocked by such a stunt, she would've done something worse.

Hell, she even randomly fired a pistol in a crowd just because a lizard lady kissed her and her friend on the lips.

"How about some drink, and that lunch? You must be hungry," she added, glancing at Lochlann, too, to include him in her question.

Lochlann laughed at Anastasia.

It wasn't a cruel laugh, but he did sound tired.

"Sounds a little bit vain to think that whatever power you have is stronger than a spell designed to keep students of all species and abilities alive," Lochlann mused. "But whatever. Suit yourself. Be afraid and don't jump then."

Lochlann really wanted her to either jump or look away so he could put his hand back on his stomach. He didn't really want to admit how much it hurt. Christ, he wouldn't be surprised if he was pissing blood later.

He pouted a little when Addy chose Anastasia over him, or at least, that's what it felt like. She called him reckless. Bah! Lochlann was not reckless. He couldn't quite sit like this so he crossed his arms and leaned forward, letting it work as a discrete way to hold his aching organs.

"Cabel is supposed to have brought good lunch," Lochlann said. "The katsu chicken is mine, though, but the rest are up for grabs."

He wasn't going to get up. not quite yet. Lochlann needed to sulk for a little bit.

It was, all things considered, a damn good thing Addie was there. Anastasia could best be described as volatile at the moment. It wasn't that her wounds were fresh - they hadn't even closed yet. Her polite nature only stretched so far when it had barely been a week since the death of her parents and the discovery of her powers, and she had yet to have time to properly grieve. She was not afraid. She was angry with him - with a boy she'd just met - for playing with her emotions.

Even if she knew that he couldn't have known, that didn't stop the anger from lingering there, barely kept down by Adelene's reassurances that he meant well.

She suspected Adelene was giving him a bit too much credit.

But she let her eyes slide away from Lochlann and back to Addie. Addie had been kind to her, and it was easier to focus on her and let her anger burn out, ignoring Lochlann's jab.

"You're right. We should eat - I haven't had anything since last night." Or had that been earlier today? Her days were all running together. "I'll eat anything, as long as it's not shellfish."

A relieved smile crossed Adelene's face. She might have not really known what right words to say to comfort both Anastasia and Lochlann, but she was glad she could at least stop Anastasia from getting any angrier. The girl must've had a rough days, and hearing that she hasn't eaten anything since a few hours ago, food was a good next step.

"Great. I'm kinda hungry too."

At the back of her mind, she wished she could defend Lochlann. She still felt a little upset that he got hurt. Turning to him, Adelene offered a hand, hoping he was okay. Concern twisted her face. "I'm sorry, Loch. Are you okay? Can you stand?" Anastasia's punch seemed hard. If Adelene were to get hit by it, it's probably knocked the air out of her.

After that, she'd grab the basket and get their lunch out, setting the Japanese food and the drinks in a picnic setting. They've been waiting long enough.

Lochlann sat for a while to try and rub some feeling back into his stomach.

God damn that hurt.

He eventually joined the two girls for the picnic basket, although he kept a bit of a distance between himself and them.

Cabel was good at guessing what people liked, so Lochlann hoped that the two girls were enjoying their food. He popped the bottle and poured them each a glass and then, Lochlann stretched out onto his back and looked up at the sky. It was blue, blue, blue, and stretched on like the ocean.

"Did you girls...cloud watch?" he asked. "Before you came here?"

It might have seemed like a strange question but Lochlann's voice was genuine. he was uncertain. His eyes were lost in searching for faint wisps of white.

Anastasia settled in, eyeing the japanese food with a certain amount of suspicion. She'd eaten it before, but not very often, and she only recognized maybe half of what was being laid out. She was adventurous enough to give it a try, although she wasn't sure how much of the food she was going to like.

Not that she was going to complain. She would eat what she was offered, whether she liked it or not. She wasn't going to be rude, even to someone she'd just punched for being an idiot.

She was expecting just to eat - not to have Lochlann suddenly wax philosophic, and she glanced over, squinting at him for a moment.

"No, not particularly." She admitted. The answer he was looking for was probably yes, but Anastasia was not the type to have her head in the clouds.
