"A bit more variety" was an understatement, but the point was not lost on Konpeitō.

"I think that's perfectly normal. Plenty of humans in the Narrow Reality are okay with not being normal, so why not humans here? Or other supernatural creatures. But I was made to be abnormal—if you hadn't noticed— so I'm very biased."

Adelaida had a bit of her curiosity piqued from the start, and she got to asking. "Nice to know I'm normal from the other side. I suppose I belong more on that side at this point if I'm being honest, being what I am."

"Can't say I'm familiar with this Narrow Reality you speak of though... my only extraplanar experience was with the Elemental Planes, and that didn't go all that well."
Adelaida took the rest of her drink, and waited for the refill. It had been a while since she last had any opportunity to engage her previous arcane curiosities.

Konpeitō stared at the woman for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. There's was no maliciousness in it. He nearly spilled his drink from the surprise.

"N-Nooo. The Narrow Reality isn't any extraplanar stuff. It's Earth. That's what we call portions of Earth where the supernatural aren't known. So most of Earth. The reality of humans there is 'narrow' in that sense."

Adelaida simply smiled at the burst of laughter. It didn't seem malicious, so she was content to take a little drink in the meantime.

"I suppose normal Earth feels narrow and restricting in a way. It's why I communed... tried to expand my horizons. Took a wrong turn somewhere and now I'm... well, would you believe it if I said I had no soul?"

"Sorry for laughing at you. That was rude," he started off. She may have taken it well on the surface, but he just had to be sure.

"Anywaaay, you'd be surprised at what kind of stuff I can believe. I've only been here for a year and my beliefs have turned upside down. Someone having no soul is one of the more normal stuff I can accept. Don't ask me how that works though. I'm not sure there."

"I know the basics of my situation... I'm a living portal, and that's about as far as my understanding goes. It's surprisingly not made much of a change in how I live. You'd think a soul was more valuable or more... influential."

Adelaida was feeling peckish, and it seemed like there wasn't much reason to go further into her story. She put down her glass and leaned in a little closer without much regard for space. "Hey. Know if they have any food here?"

"Huh?" Konpeitō leaned back, worried the woman would touch him. Realizing that wasn't her intention, he straightened back up. "Yeah, plenty. Lots of regular stuff, then there's some magical options. A few stuff for androvores too. Konpeitō listed out some of the more normal options. With weed being openly provided for smoking, this bar had a lot more options than others.

When he was done, he resumed the previous conversation. "Before coming here, I wasn't actually too spiritual or religious. My dad was big into western mythology and all that, but none of that stuff really sounded right to me. Guesss I lost the bet on that one. By the way, I'm Konpeitō."

"Adelaida. Not very spiritual anymore either. My family, me included, was pretty big on classical western magic, but I can't practice it anymore because of what I've ended up being, and my family's not around anymore either. Now I'm here drinking with strangers," Adelaida said, grinning and backing up a little bit.

She ordered a bowl of chips and a sandwich, or whatever the closest equivalent available here was. This bar wasn't quite as familiar to her as the others, and she fumbled for a bit with the menu.

Konpeitō was not going to further question where her parents went. He also ordered himself something, but self-conscious of his company, he went for something normal. Just a simple hamburger with fries.

"Drinking with strangers isn't so bad. I made plenty of friends by drinking with strangers! ... Okay, that's not completely true. I've made friends by going to public places in general and seeing who was up for conversation. I'm a huuuuge socialite. I practically live off of socializing."

Adelaida was willing to share but her companion had, perhaps out of her influence, also ordered his own food, so... more for me.

"I wouldn't say I'm a socialite... just kind of. It's not so much socializing that gives me the energy to operate, it's just activity. Anything engaging enough will work for my itches."
