"That's right," Straga said. Once they smacked Destra around a little bit they'd be able to get their proper partners, bond, and be done with it.

Evan's heart would have been downright warmed by the fact that Straga apparently thought he'd be able to kick Destra's ass. Fat chance. Even if he was a kid, he was still a dragon kid. If it was anything physical, Destra would hand his own ass to him. Really, in anything but sheer worldly experience Destra was likely to hand his own ass to him.

"Well obviously," Cori protested. "You were expected to play along. To have fun with it. And instead you guys got all serious."

"In my experience, the best fun comes in watching any hope of victory leaving your opponents eyes. Then proceeding to grind them into a fine powder," Straga grinned. "Also chess, chess is fun too."

Tori let out another sigh and stared out the door in the hopes that she would find herself at home again. This night went from kind of okay to terrible really quick. She noticed Straga texting.

"Tomorrow, he's free tomorrow. He says I'm going to regret this," Straga smirked. "I guess we can call it a night."

He couldn't keep it up, and Evan cracked a grin after only a beat.

"What does that even mean?" Cori said, looking mystified.

"It's a quote," Evan said. "Conan the barbarian. It's not a thing. I don't actually believe that. I mean, Straga might a bit, but I'm sure he can keep himself in check."

Evan gave Straga a sly grin right as Cori gave Tori an absolutely horrified look.

"Please, I'm a dignified dragon, not some savage beast. I would have snapped them in half by now if I was considering it," Straga grunted. This was as close to reassuring them as he was willing to get. They did get themselves into this situation after all.

Tori didn't seem convinced, as she inched closer to her sister. "Evan you're scaring them, we have to work with them. Be a cohesive unit... or at least a slightly drunk conga line."

"Definitely a slightly drunk conga line," Evan said.

Cori seemed to have gotten over the worse of her impulsive fear, and she finally pulled out a piece of paper, scribbling out her number and sliding it over to Evan.

"There's my number. I'm not going to hang out here all right, so if you're going to do a challenge, give me a call." She shot a look to Tori, making it clear she was expecting Tori to head out with her.

Tori wrote down her number as well, handing it to Straga. Then headed out with her sister, leaving Evan and Straga.

"Tonight was productive,Tomorrow should be as well. Hopefully they won't pass out at the sight of blood or something pitiful," he growled. "It's been a while since I've had... a proper fight with him. I'm going to head out and get some rest."

But before he did, Straga ordered himself another beer and downed it. "Alright, now we can go."
