Power Classes.
<p>
Gareth made his way into the large gymnasium and visibly flinched, as well as tensed, as he saw the large variety of different magical beings all brought together in one large room.
<p>
I instantly despite this class, he thought with aggression and was immediately on guard. His heart was beating quicker than normal and that just helped to further tick him off. He despised the fact that he was intimidated. Couldn’t Rosco have sent him to an academy that was a little less… uh… in your face?
<p>
I mean this is just ridiculous, He continued his mental conversation with himself and really who the hell else could he really talk to? Obviously he didn’t belong here. Rosco had made a mistake—damn, he thought he would never say something like that but he was really, really, starting to believe solidly that he had.
<p>
One thing was very clear for Gareth—he did not like Starlight Academy.

Noelle opened the door to the Power classes. She liked it enough, and had some good recent memories. Plus she loved to be able to use her powers without being yelled at. To many people slipping on ice. But that wasn't all her fault. Half the people didn't pay attention to where they were walking,surely that was't her fault! The class hadn't seemed to start yet, so she walked slowly into the room.

She watched the medium sized crowd of students talking, laughing, and using their powers. Some just stood off to the side by themselves. She looked for people she knew, but she saw no one. She walked past a group of students, and one guy just standing by himself. He didn't look to happy. She shrugged, what was there not to love?

Really it didn't take long at all for Noelle to become bored. She always used her powers when she was. And, of course, even when she wasn't. Suddenly, she felt the sudden urge to sit down. With the quick movement of hands, she summoned snow all around her. But this job called for some sweet heavy duty ice. With ease and creativity, she created herself a cozy ice chair, with a full rounded back and criss-crossing support legs. She bent down to blow on it-a trick to make the ice harder- and sat down on it. Naturally, the coldness didn't bother her.

'Much better' she thought, satisfied. She loved her powers because she could build almost anything with them in no time at all. She watched the students scrambling around the room, and settled back in her chair smugly. "True queen of the ice and snow" she said to herself, her words drowned in confidence, and laced with pride.

It didn’t take long for Gareth to begin making his way over to the bleachers set up at one side of the gymnasium with the intention of picking a spot where no one else was currently seated. He spotted the blue haired teenager a few feet in front of him and couldn’t help but pause as she began creating ice right before her, molding and shaping it into a rather detailed chair.
<p>
At first glimpse she had looked normal—about as normal as him—but he hadn’t let that fool him and he wasn’t surprised to see her using her powers much like the rest of the people in this class. The thought made him glance toward the other parts of the gymnasium but he instantly regretted it and almost blatantly jerked his gaze away.
<p>
His heart had sped up a little. It was so easy to be intimidated and he hated that. He felt so insignificant here as well as completely… clueless. He didn’t even know crap about his own powers for God’s sake.
<p>
Gareth took in a sharp breath and cleared his mind for the time being, instead focusing on making his way to the bleachers once again. But, as he passed the self-titled ‘Snow Queen’ and her throne he miscalculated the fact that ice was, in fact, slippery.
<p>
He slipped and slid awkwardly, his arms flailing for a split second as he attempted to regain his balance. But then, he didn’t, and went tumbling down on his bottom cursing out a brief [color=BA0009]“The hell—“[/color] as he went along.

Noelle watched casually as the loner student went to sit on a bleacher. She looked around the rest of the room bored. The teachers must have had a meeting, because usually they would be here by now. Oh well, didn't matter much to her. She watched the students milling around and flicked a piece of fuzz from her capris. None of them really showed any true power, or anything impressive. Lucky them they were here.

Suddenly she noticed the loner student walking by. 'I hope he's care-' before she could finish her sentence he started slipping and sliding, and then, he was on the floor. Noelle face palmed herself letting out a sigh of exasperation. She collected the ice from her chair, and the ground, and just like that, it was gone.

"Well, now that we've established the fact that ice is slippery." She held her hand out to him to help him up. She just didn't understand people when it came to ice, why was it so hard to avoid it. Hopefully it wouldn't be to angry and sue her. Or sue the school. Or, sue her and the school. She just didn't have the money for that. Or patience.

She really hoped that she didn't make him mad. She supposed she could take part of the blame, but hadn't he walked on it? Of course she wasn't going to tell him that, unless need arised. Hopefully, it wouldn't.

Okay, well that had been just plain dumb. As Gareth sat on the floor he wondered if he should feel a tad bit embarrassed about slipping and sliding, and just the overall awkwardness of the scene. But, to be honest, he didn’t feel like he did. He just wasn’t sensitive to other peoples presences and so there was nothing, really, to be embarrassed about.
<p>
“Well, now that we’ve established the fact that ice is slippery,” The blue-haired girl remarked as she stepped before him and held out her hand. Without any thought, really, Gareth reached out and grasped onto her hand.
<p>
It was cold. The fact shouldn’t have been startling but Gareth hadn’t been thinking and so, in all honesty, everything kind of hit him all at once at that point. While her hand was cold at the start he could easily feel the sensation dimming as his own contrasting body temperature heated himself right back up.
<p>
Gareth released her hand without picking himself up or allowing her to help, and unconsciously frowned as he thought about the fact that she was ice and snow. Huh, he had never thought about it before but…

Well, he seemed alright for one thing, that was always good. And he wasn't yelling at her, which was really good. She hated being lectured by people. Sometimes she felt like freezing their mouth's shut, but that would make them angrier. Just as she was about to pull him up he pulled his hand away. She raised her eyebrow, slightly frowning. Then she realized her hands were probably colder than usual.

She didn't know what to do or say, so she produced some snow and started licking it. He seemed to be rather comfortable sitting on the floor, and since it was obvious he didn't want her help, she wasn't sure what to do. She was a little startled when he mumbled something.

“Someplace cold, huh…?”

She looked at him with both eyebrows raised not sure what to say. Was he talking to himself? Because she had no answer for his question. She let a "huh" slip out, but hesitated, so it was just a little noise. She felt completely awkward standing there. "Um, I'm gonna go, over there, now." she said, not sure what else to do. She turned and started to walk away, groaning inwardly.

Gareth pulled from his thoughts and glanced up toward the blue haired girl as she apparently muttered some sort of ‘huh’ or maybe ‘yeah’ in response to his thoughts. His frown remained and it didn’t take him long to stand back up and sling his backpack back over one shoulder.

“Um, I’m gonna go, over there, now,” The girl retorted and gave Gareth the strong impression of one of those overbearing popular girls. They just had this way of talking that irritated him.

[color=BA0009]“Uh, hey—wait,”[/color] He immediately reached out to grasp her arm the moment she turned to start leaving. As quickly as he grabbed her arm, however, he pulled his hand away again. [color=BA0009]“Uh….”[/color]

His mind stalled and he grew a little sheepish. He wasn’t used to actually being interested in something. And he didn’t like talking to people. So those two things added together made him in store for one awkward ride.

Noelle wasn't walking particularly fast, as she was trying to not look stupid. Suddenly she felt an hand grasp her arm, which made her jump on the inside. He wanted her to stay? Maybe he had a question about something. Or maybe he wanted to yell at her. 'Oh for pete's sake Noelle' she thought to herself 'h's not mad. Not all people react the same way' she reminded herself.

“Yeah. What’s your name?”

Noelle smiled just a little, bu tried not to let it show. She didn't want him to think she was trying to get him interested during the last scenario. She mentally cleared her face, leaving it mostly straight, but with a little look of friendliness on it.

"My name is Noelle. I'd offer you a handshake, but as you already know my hands are a little cold." She held up her hands and shrugged. There wasn't much she could do about that, they were her partners. She didn't know what she'd do without them. Actually, most people wouldn't. She shifted her weight a little feeling him staring down at her. Best just to act natural. She kept her eyebrows lifted, with an expression of interest. She wasn't one of those people who never listened to other people, and she didn't want to look like one either.

Ironically, the cold didn’t bother him — instead it interested him. He wasn’t sure why he had never thought of it before. Of course snow, ice, and all the frozen-like would interested him. He was damnably made of fire, after all! Okay, maybe that didn’t make too much sense — he didn’t know — but it made sense to him and that’s all that really mattered anyway.

Noelle played with her hair a little, not exactly a nervous habit, but definitely a habit. The boy seemed to be thinking of something to say, which gave her a few seconds to clear her thinking. She wanted to make sure she didn't say anything stupid, no that she really ever had But still, now was not the time to start.

“Ah, no, I wasn't bothered by your… hands. I mean the cold… of your hands.”

Noelle smiled a little at his correction, but quickly smothered it off her face. She didn't want to look like she was laughing at him.Not that it was really anything worth laughing at, but lately she'd been trying to be careful about her interaction with other people, she did want some friends.

“I… uh… I think I like the cold.”

She smiled. "Good, I do too." Only she didn't think, she knew. She was glad that she loved her powers, because she knew some people didn't. She couldn't imagine not being happy with your abilities, it was never anything she struggled with. Suddenly she realized he hadn't said who he was.

"Say, you haven't told me your name." she said with a bit of a smile, trying not to seem convicting or anything.
