As the snow began to melt away from the streets of the underground, the already bustling crowds generated an aura of excitement. The light faded from the sky only to be replaced by that of lanterns, candles, electric lights, and other sources of illumination. The smell of roasting food began to saturate the air as residents set up stalls alongside the tents of the fortune tellers. The sounds of music being played by performers was only overshadowed by the hawking of wares and the beckoning of those that could read the cards, throw the bones, and peer into the ether of time.

Yes, the fortune festival was in full swing, ready to great any student, staff, or citizen of the island to it's revelry.

Welcome to the Official fortune festival event thread!

Please keep your posts short and rapid-fire. there is no posting order, but it's a good Idea to @Mention the person your character is interacting with,

Emily Kirkpatrick

The shy girl licked her lips as she fidgeted behind the table of her small booth. She had set up along side the many other, more experienced fortune tellers on the street in the hopes that she could help someone and maybe make some extra money. She had dressed the part, a loose, black robe draped over her and held in place with beads, and she had her tarot cards out on the table. The taste of emotions emanating off the many people crowding the street washed over her. It wasn't an unpleasant sensation, but it was certainly overwhelming.

She wasn't even sure what she was going to charge people. In the end, she'd probably just end up asking what people were willing to pay for the fortune. Her eyes drifted down to the deck of cards in front of her. Yes, that would probably be best.

Someone entered her stall and she glanced back up in a slight panic. "A-Ah... H-Hello!... W-Would you care to s-see what the future holds for you?... O-Or... Or p-perhaps there's something e-e-else you'd like m-me to divine...?"

Diam

The small figure held a black parasol over his head as he wandered through the crowd, occasionally glancing up at the sky to watch as the final rays of the day vanished over the horizon. His dark eyes drifted over the crowd, silently observing as they reveled in thoughts of the present and speculated at the future.

Diam hadn't put much stock in the words of fortune tellers for a while now. It wasn't that he disbelieved their abilities. It was more like he knew that he'd see the truth of the future for himself soon enough. Drawing in the parasol and folding it back into it's compressed state, the vampire found his way over to a bench and seated himself. Even if the fortunes weren't worth his time, they would hopefully prove amusing.

Octain looked at the person who asked his fortune to be read. He shrugged and looked around. He believed in fate and fortune as he did with magic. Though the flustered character spoke more to him.

"I would thank you to."

Sitting down in a chair that was invisible to all as it looked like he was just sitting in thin air as he looked at the deck of cards.

"Please. Go on."

His orange eyes darted between the cards and the girl. His mask hiding his perplexed face of what the future held. Of what could be in his future. OR what couldn't be.

Emily swallowed a little bit, and licked her lips again as she lowered her eyes to the cards. Her hand reached out and cut the deck into several other piles, and then reformed them into one again. Her fingers nimbly stole three cards off the top of the deck and set them face down in a line in front of them.

She paused at this point, glancing back up to Octain. "... You may change their positions if you like... It is your future... After all..." After waiting for his response and actions, she glanced down and flipped the cards over to reveal their faces.

The High Priestess, inverted.

The Nine of Cups.

The Four of Swords.

"... The inverted Priestess reflects passion... And conceit... The cups propose contentment... But the swords suggest seclusion or retreat... A victory followed by great loss..." she brought her gaze up to Octain's mask once again, tilting her head slightly.

"Humility might serve you well in the coming days... Vigilance could avert the sword, or draw it closer..." She reached out slightly, indicating the mask. "Beware the surface... Things may not be as they seem... or as complacent..."

She blinked a couple of times, and then let her eyes drift away shyly as she fidgeted. "... U-Um... O-Of course, nothing is ev... Ever c-curtain... Th-This is just a-a possible outcome..."

"Hmm. Sounds really vague. Victory then great loss? If I didn't know better I'd think you were reading my past."

From the grass popped out a head, the rest of the body nowhere to be found. Of course, the observant may have noticed that the rest of him was simply lounging around in the spaces between the atoms and molecules that comprised the ground immediately below his head. "Didn't know you did tarot. If I asked about the odds of being stabbed and or dismembered, would you be able to predict for me? I've been trying to figure out my chances all week."

With a little shove Teddy pushed himself upward, bringing his torso above ground while the rest of him kept underground. Doing things like this wore greatly on his wardrobe - not all his clothes could handle suddenly squeezing in between matter.

Speaking of clothes. "Nice mask, guy-sir. Enchanted? Looks like it is. Don't know though - just throwing guesses out. Think I can get one of those in neon pink..?"
