That New Book Smell

"Sure!" She answered. "You're coming with us Sir?" Azza asked Aris while tilting her head.

She went out of the counter and led the group to the Science section. She pulled out the booklet she made and started reading the introduction. "I tried to show a division in the library with four main topics. Arts, Language and Literature, Science, and Magic. If you would look at the 5th page of booklet I gave you there's a mini map of the library, there's a legend there, well- I know you know how to use it. There are sections where two or more topics overlap, well, you know what that means."

"There are also media rooms, where you can watch videos and stuff. It is against the rules to watch 'those kinds' of videos in there, since it's soundproof and all." She said with her serious face on. "Uhm... Let's see, is there any particular book you want to see? We have everything here, from old to new, unpublished, forbidden ones where you need special access and I'm not supposed to be telling you that, actual books and versions of them that were pulled back by the authors or publishers, and children's books."

"I am," Aris nodded. Somehow, it seemed that the rumors surrounding Azza weren't quite as accurate, which was a good thing. He didn't quite want to deal with an inept librarian, as he wasn't all too familiar with the library himself.

Still, Azza was a seemingly loose secret-keeper, and Aris gave her a stern glare. That last portion of her energetic speech especially caught on his attention, and the grass growing under his feet instantly wilted, as if responding to his mood. "While your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated, it would not be within anyone's best interests if you were to disclose things that you, by your own admissions, were not allowed to tell people. Forbidden knowledge tends to be forbidden for a reason, most often safety - and I, nor any of the staff, will appreciate if this young man or any other were to be put in any sort of danger. Am I being clear?"

He leaned over close to Azza's ear and whispered, "I will let you know that I know Miss Tamara and her opinion of you currently is far from glowing. Now I would advise you to avoid further unnecessary revelation, or she will know and your 'dibs' will become irrelevant."

His lecture done, Aris straightened himself up and clapped his hands softly, and the grass resumed their normal life and death cycle under his feet. "Feel free to look around, Daniel. I will simply watch here."

Daniel followed the librarian. At least she seemed to know what she was doing. He opened the small booklet, looking at the map quickly to find the sections he would most likely be using. He took a step back as Azza started describing the media rooms. That thought had honestly never occured to him, but now the seed had been planted. Good job Azza.

The tall boy started thinking about potential books that might be here, especially what books might be considered forbidden. He barely noticed Aris leaning over to Azza, whispering.

Once Aris spoke to him, Daniel nodded with a smile. "Yes sir!" He chimed happily, furiously reading over the booklet. After a few seconds, he turned to Azza again. "Do you have a copy of the first 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' novel? It was written by Douglas Adams and first released in 1979."

Azza took the moments silence while Aris was whispering those words about secrecy and specially, the ones saying, "your hopes for Tamara is going to be null", ringed in her ears. She saw Aris from the caring to the responsible type. Azza replied with a nod, meaning he understood it clearly, and that she knew how grave her mistake was. She gave a serious look towards Aris before looking away and started to put her attention to the new student.

"Uhm... Yeah, as I was saying, we have every book in existence." Azza is trying to dodge the prohibited books as a topic. "Okay, so you want the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Hmn... ISBN no. 0-671-62964-6. It's in the Sci-Fi section AR3, book number is SciNov 1092. I forgot the shelf number, forgive me for that." Azza memorized the position of each book in the entire library, she can already make an inventory with 95% accuracy while reciting it from the top of her head.

"Would you like to go there on your own? Or would you have me and or Sir Aris to go with you?" Azza asked.

Daniel shook his head, his hands going into his pockets. "No thank you, I think I can find it. I won't be able to rely on you every time i'm here, so..." He nodded to himself, before checking the map and walking off to find the book.

The student would return with a copy of the Hitchhikers guide...Along with an armful of other books. The stack he was walking back with was easily two feet tall. It was a wonder they weren't falling. "Um. Is there a limit to how many books I can have checked out?" He asked sheepishly. Probably should have checked first.

"Feel free to rely on the faculty, Daniel. It is our job after all," Aris said, wistfully staring off into the distance of the library. In his arms were three books, none of which were academic in the slightest. One seemed to be a philosophical treatise on death and humanity, while the other two seemed to be straightforward romance novels.

Snapping his head back into reality, Aris nodded to Azza, bringing his own selection forward. "I shall be borrowing these - they will be returned in one week."

"Hmn... Nope, but can you read them until before they become overdue books? Because the library is kinda strict when it comes overdue books. If you can't I would suggest to just leave some of them here. Don't worry, I'll return them to their proper places." Azza gave a smile.

"Yeah! You can definitely ask us, for example, if you had a sudden meet up for two girls at different places I can go to the other one for you!" Azza chortled a little then looked at Aris. "Well I know that's not what Sir Aris wanted to say but, well you know, just in case."

Daniel looked between them, smiling softly. The teachers here were nice at least, if a bit quirky. He nodded to Azza. "I can read them in time. I assume I can check them out at the front desk?" He asked, as the group began to walk that direction.

He blushed slightly at Azzas statement, but he was getting used to the strange librarian. "I'll...Keep that in mind."
