If it wasn't for the heat beating down from above, it would be a perfect day on the beach. All things considered, it was still a pretty good day. The water was nice, the sky clear. There weren't many people on the beach at the moment, being rather early. The sand was nice and clear, the water crashing on the beach and receeding. It was a usual day on the beach of Manta Carlos.

Well...It would be if it weren't for one thing. The woman sitting on top of the gigantic bear running across the beach. She was obviously part of Starlight academy, the crest on her vest and shorts made that clear. The bear had a large vest of its own, similar to the one the woman was wearing.

They stopped near the middle of the beach, the woman hopping off to move in front of the bear, patting its head. Looked like they were stopping for rest, but still. What a strange sight. You don't normally see one of the forbidden forests bears out, much less with someone riding on it.

Lochlann really needed a swim.

It was something he'd done daily in the past, but since coming to the island, it had been harder and harder for him to swim. Ironic, really, since he was now literally surrounded by water, but it wasn't that simple.

For starters, since everyone was some kind of monster here, Lochlann didn't want people to put two and two together and piece together what he was. Secondly, if he had the option, Lochlann really didn't want to wear pants when he was swimming.

But damn, was it a beautiful morning for a swim.

Lochlann broke out of the waves and walked backwards onto the shore, grabbing his towel and drying of quickly. The wetter he was, the harder it was to stay human, and Lochlann was pretty sure he heard the tell-tale sign of feet pounding the sand.

When he turned around and stepped out from behind the large rock he'd been using for cover as he changed, Lochlann's draw dropped.

"Uh, m'am," Lochlann called out. "Are you aware that there is a large bear standing....there."

Milk continued to pat Bear, praising him. He really had come far. He used to have to take at least one break for a circuit of the island. Now he could do it without a rest. He was still tired at the end, but Milk could work with that. The fighter smiled as she rubbed the bears head, the animal growling in contentment.

The tanned girl cocked her head to the side as she heard a voice. She turned on her heels, not a single wasted moment. Bear growled before Milk cut him off, raising a hand up.

"Yes. I am aware there is a bear standing here." She deadpanned, her monotone hanging in the air.

"Oh, well, alright then," Lochlann said. "As long as you're aware."

There was a huge, unasked question in the air, which as a moment passed, Lochlann realized he had to make tangible.

"Why?" he asked.

Why was there a bear? Why was there a bear ON THE BEACH?

"Is that...is that bear a person?" Lochlann asked, suddenly realizing it was the most obvious answer. They were on the islands. Maybe it was a bear that turned into a person, or vice versa. That would make more sense, and it's explained what looked like the vest the bear was wearing.

Milk stared owlishly at Lochlann, confused. "Why what?" She deadpanned, confused at the question. She glanced at Bear, before back to Lochlann.

Her head tilted to the side, her arms crossing across her chest. She looked incredibly confused. "No. Bear is not a person. Bear is a bear. That is obvious." Her monotone hung in the air for several seconds, the awkward silence thick enough to cut with a spoon.

Milk blinked, her large brown orbs staring right at Lochlann. She was silent now.

"So bear is a legitimate bear," Lochlann said, pinching the bridge of his nose. He wasn't so sure why he was so invested. He should just go back into the water or start walking back home or something but he couldn't bring himself to move.

"Why is the bear on the beach?" Lochlann asked. "Aren't bears woodland animals? Isn't the bear..hot?"

Milk nodded. "Yes. Bear is a bear." The fighter started to frown at his questioning though. She answered them anyway though, no need to be rude.

"Bear is here because we just finished our run. Yes he is from the Forest. Yes he is hot." She stated curtly and quickly. "And his name is Bear, please refer to him as such. He does not like it when you do not call him by his name."

Bear growled in agreement.

None of this made any sense.

Lochlann sat down in the sand suddenly, rubbing his head. Did she have heat stroke? She wasn't making any sense. What the hell was with the bear?

Lochlann took a deep breath, looked up at the two of them, and then he started laughing.

"Oh my god you're not real," he said. "I have heatstroke. That's what this is. This whole thing i just a hallucination. You and the bear--I mean, Bear, excuse me--but I don't understand why I would hallucinate a bear and a hot babe on a beach. I mean, the babe makes sense, but why the bear?""

Milk frowned. "Bear, sit. I must help this situation." The giant animal nodded, making a grunting noise and falling onto his haunches, taking a breather.

Milk stepped closer to Lochlann, kneeling down to be on eye level with the laughing boy, rambling to himself.

"You are clearly unwell. I am very much real. Do you need assistance?" She asked, ignoring most of what he was saying.

"I am clearly fine and very well," Lochlann said to the hallucination. She got close to him. That happened a lot with his hallucinations.

He sighed. She was probably going to kiss him. Why else would she be so close?

"I just don't know why bear happened today. I mean, you kind of make sense, since hallucinations are drawing with what's on your mind, and I guess I've been stressed out lately.....BUT WHY THE BEAR?"

Lochlann raised his fists to the air in despair and then put them back on the sand in despair.

"This is the part where you kiss me and then try to strangle me, but I really don't feel like dying, so can we skip that part of the hallucination today?"
