Aimouryllice a'Phoche was lost again. Even after a couple days, she still hadn't managed to perfect or even roughly sketch a mental map of this school, even with directions. All the coral just looked the same. How did these humans even survive? How did they find where to hunt their food? Where to sleep? Oh, look! An Aethenaeum!

The fish-looking girl, dressed in a flowing, purple kimono with intricate floral patterns, suddenly found herself within a library, which she knew as an Aethenaeum. If these humans had a taste for knowledge as the Vox Somni did, then perhaps they weren't all that bad. She moved towards one of the shelves and reached to withdraw a heavy book.

When she opened the book, Aimouryllice realized she couldn't read human English. She was also holding the book upside-down and side-ways, but she didn't know that and it was besides the point. What did humans even like to read, anyways? The book was soon forgotten, placed upside-down back in its place and very poorly at that, while Aimouryllice refocused her efforts on finding someone within this library who she might be able to gather intel from.

Ah! There was one now. After a bit of searching through the shelves, the Vox spotted someone from afar. . .

Haskell, in his usual fashion, was buried in his books, reading up for the next Dark Arts lectures. He had maybe at least 7-8 books stacked beside him, towering over his head as he diligently read through a textbook on Demons, as well as demonic rituals which he had minor trouble understanding. How do I do this? If I need to employ the use of a demon as a potential energy source to power my necromancy spells, I'd need to place them under my direct control. But summoning would mean that I would have to enter a contract with the fiends... I need to find a way to bind it to my will with minimal risks. This is a bit more complicated than I thought it'd be. He thought to himself as he kept on reading, pestering his own thoughts with how to improve his own magic, paying no heed to his surroundings. Sitting in the corner of the library, it was the best spot to avoid meeting people in the library.

His wall of books was like his fortress; he didn't want to interact with the world, and thus the library was the perfect foundation in which he can not only find minimal interaction with other students and staff in the Academy, but to find solace in what he enjoys doing. Although he had a lot of books in his own living space, the library was much, much more abundant and therefore provided a quick and effort-free method of gaining knowledge without doing too much. As he finished reading chapters relevant to what he was looking for, he slammed the book shut with his two hands and piled it in front of him, picking out another book to read from his stack; a necromancy book this time. The dark, occult-like appearance of the book matched his dark outfit. Black shirt, dark jeans, dark brown hair and a lot of religious items hanging off the left side of his belt.

Haskell let out a soft sigh as he leaned in to get a closer look at an ancient text included in the tome, outright ignoring the girl who had spotted him. Or maybe he wasn't even aware of her existence. Either way, his eyes weren't focused anywhere else aside from his readings.

A human--perfect! Well, not actually perfect; humans were still quite grotesque, but that wasn't the focus right now. What Aimouryllice wanted to know was just what humans were interested in. Was it history? Military strategy? Childish fairy-tales? The answers were all laying within this vile creature. . .

Aimouryllice stared at him. She stared long and hard with her big, unblinking eyes. Ugh, it wasn't working. Was he ignoring her, or did Signalling really not work on humans? Unintelligent, barbaric, big-nosed--oh, her hair was getting long again. While she chewed on the ends of her wild black locks, she pondered how to garner this human's attention.

What if she just. . .flicked her kimono a little bit. . .He had to have noticed such intricate, swishy beauty! It was just calling his name. Okay, it wasn't actually calling his name, but she had no idea how humans went about getting each other's attention if they were so small-minded as to not know how to Signal like her own species did. Her own, much more efficient species.

. . .A waste of time! She'll just go see what he's reading herself. The young woman marched right on over to this odd stack of books surrounding the human and snatched an unused one up with her dainty, clawed fingers. Intel procured! She began leafing through it in an attempt to uncover its true nature. . .She still didn't know how to read.

Haskell had begun to notice a random girl staring from the distance has her presence loomed over him. But he didn't think it was unusual for people to give him strange looks or anything in public, so he didn't pay too much attention. Get on with your day already, he thought. As if it wasn't already endearing enough that two people had asked him whether or not he studied at the Academy in the past hour, much to his chagrin. He continued ignoring the girl, until suddenly...

He felt a soft brush of air on his face as the girl suddenly grabbed a book from his stack to read. A strange creature which he had never seen before... Was taking his precious book hostage. He narrowed his eyebrows as he stared at the strange creature, what the hell is this girl doing? Is she an idiot? She's holding the book upside-down... Even the most exotic species must have its blockheads, huh?

"Excuse me, it would be much appreciated if you released my book as your hostage." He said with a slight groan, staring daggers at her as she seemingly skimmed through the book. Who does she think she is, messing with other people's things? It was the first time anyone had directly interacted with Haskell out of their own volition since he came to the Academy, but it wasn't a very good impression so far.

What were these symbols?! Aimouryllice couldn't read a single word of this, but at least the illustrations gave her some sort of idea what the book was all about. It was an idea. Her claws scratched at the pages as she flipped through them, leaving harsh marks behind but luckily never tearing completely through. Even the humans' sources of knowledge are weak. . .

When the human began speaking to her, the Vox Somni barely noticed. Was he talking to himself? The humans around here sure did like doing that, and it was very strange. Perhaps they had problems in their heads. Or! Maybe all the humans she saw were actually the babies of their species, and that's why they had such overactive imaginations! She briefly wondered what the adults looked like before she remembered that she was supposed to be gathering information from the humans, and, more specifically, in that moment, figuring out just what this book in her hands was about.

Aimouryllice turned the book around and shoved it in the human's face, pointing one long claw at the text under an illustration of a pentagram. "Read?" she said in her mangled foreign accent, and it was not in a whisper at that because she'd once again forgotten about the effect of her voice on the humans and human-like creatures around her.

Haskell's ears would ring, but she wouldn't take immediate notice of her mistake and instead stare at him until he answered.
