Deafening Voice - Aimouryllice’s voice can deafen a person. Effectiveness depends on her volume and the hearing range and ability of others; whispers have little to no effect, talking causes ears to ring, and shouting can fully deafen someone. Those who can’t hear as well (whether naturally or due to ear plugs/headphones/etc) are not as strongly affected. After shouting/deafening someone, she will go mute for 48 hours. Cannot be controlled yet. Does not affect other Vox Somni and is not specific to the species, only Ama.

Signal Telepathy - This is a tactic used by Vox Somni to get one another’s attention, like calling someone’s name. They cannot otherwise naturally communicate with their minds. Only has an effect on Vox Somni; other races will not feel the mental poke. Requires target to be in sight and within five kilometers, though the signal is weaker with distance. Does not work through windows or sight-enhancing objects such as telescopes, binoculars, or glasses.

Vox Somni Physiology - Vox have two rows of shark-like teeth, webbed toes, collapsible dorsal fins, a nictitating membrane, mouths that can split from ear to ear, colored blood (Aimouryllice's is purple), and very smooth skin; they can secrete glycoproteins that, when they come into contact with water, make their skin slippery. Their legs are strong from generations of swimming, but no stronger than a human’s. They possess a lateral line that detects pressure, vibrations, and movement in the water; if the lateral line is blocked (such as by clothing), it can severely disorient a Vox until they acclimate. Their eyes also possess a few more photoreceptors than humans. Vox are ovoviviparous (though their eggs can be laid before birth) and can breed with any humanoid.

Diet - Consists mainly of fish and (less so) aquatic/tropical plants. They can consume human food such as meat or fruits and obtain nutrients from them as well, though they have several allergies.

Partial Immunity - Due to their difference in biological make-up, Vox are immune to many human diseases (such as smallpox, cholera, or mad cow disease) as well as some toxins.

Rapunzel - The hair and nails of a Vox grow incredibly quickly, requiring a lot of care to be kept under control. Affects both genders equally.

Extended Oxygen - As an amphibious species, Vox are able to survive on a single breath of oxygen for up to fifteen minutes. They lack gills and can’t breathe underwater; they’re similar to whales or dolphins in that they must resurface to take oxygen into their lungs, but they preserve it and use it very efficiently when underwater or otherwise deprived of it.

Enhanced senses - Vox have evolved to see much better in low-light conditions, but they can’t see in almost total darkness; additionally, the extra photoreceptors in their eyes allow them to see more colors than a human can. Their sense of smell is also about as strong as a shark’s.

Agile - They have fantastic balance, coordination, quick reflexes, flexibility, and are quite speedy (though not overly so). They’re even more speedy in the water since it’s their natural environment.

Increased Lifespan - Vox Somni live several centuries before expiring. Past a certain age (somewhere in the mid-20s, depending on gender), aging begins to slow.

Regeneration - Can grow back lost body parts (except for their heart or head). Their regeneration is more effective and speedy with smaller things such as teeth or feet, which would only take a couple of days to regrow. Anything larger than that will be considerably weaker for a while after they grow back. The younger a Vox is, the faster they regenerate; the ability slows down with age. Permanent damage such as cauterization or a wound scarring too quickly can either greatly hinder or stop regeneration. Regeneration takes a lot of energy, so Vox Somni will need to consume much more than normal to keep up with the energy demands; if they don’t get enough, regeneration will slow (sometimes even to a complete stop), and they will constantly feel exhausted and ready to collapse.

Vocal Vampire - Like a vampire’s reflection, technological devices can’t pick up on their voices; attempting to record a Vox’s voice would just result in radio silence. Their voices cannot be projected through megaphones or microphones, and phone calls are essentially impossible.

Painfully Loud - Aimouryllice's deafening voice doesn't let her converse at the same volume as other humans without hurting them.

Physically weak - Vox lack the physical strength humans possess and cannot withstand as much abuse before succumbing to their injuries.

Sustenance - If a Vox goes too long (a few days) without consuming fish, they will grow weak and sickly, even if they consume lots of other food. They will eventually die without fish (in less than a month). Aquatic plants can stave this off a little bit but can’t solve their problems. When in a state of regeneration, their diet deprivation limit can go from a few days to a few hours, depending on the scale of their regeneration.

Allergies - Vox are highly allergic to synthetic/man-made fibers (Ex: polyester/poly blends) as well as highly processed foods (Ex: chocolate, fast food, or imitation products). If they come into contact with any of these things, they experience a severe allergic reaction.

Sugar - While they’re not allergic to natural sugars, sugar has a much stronger effect on Vox. They experience a quick, extreme sugar high and a severe ‘sugar crash’.

Narcotics and Sedatives - Highly toxic to a Vox. Small amounts of alcohol, caffeine, or other mind-altering drugs can have adverse, potentially deadly effects on their body, including alcohol poisoning. Ingesting even a little alcohol will severely intoxicate them as if they had guzzled hard liquor. Small doses of narcotics can put them into a coma. These substances also tend to stay in their systems much longer.

Strong smells - While their enhanced sense of smell can be helpful, strong odors can bother Vox greatly, to the point of lightheadedness, vomiting, or fainting. If there are many scents around them (Ex: going through the perfume department or a street of food vendors), it can overwhelm their senses and give them intense headaches and may cause vomiting or fainting.

Blood Incompatibility - Vox Somni can’t receive blood from humans or other races with blood similar to a human’s and vice versa. Ingesting human blood is toxic to Vox Somni, but Vox blood can still be fed on by supernatural creatures.

Partial Non-Immunity - While they’re biologically resistant to many human diseases, Vox are more susceptible to others. A simple cold could land them in the hospital and kill them if left untreated, for example. Most human vaccines also seem to have little to no effect on them.

Human Shape Charm: While wearing this charm, the character appears human. They lose access to any abilities they had related to their original body. Characters wearing this charm always have a single set human form, which resembles their non-human form.

Nullification Bracelet: This nullification bracelet naturally disables all of a characters active abilities, and any outwardly projecting passive abilities (such as auras). This bracelet can be taken on and off at will.
