Tears continued to flow from Yuki's bright yellow eyes as Lei apologized. She stared at the ceiling, the stain from the condiments still there, a few drops dripping off onto the table behind her and Lei. Her breath was shaking with each breath she took.
Yuki's mind was racing through the terrible memories of the teasing and taunting her appearance brought her when she was younger, the reason she kept her hair the way she did. Her mind drifted to the last time she broke down like this, to her grandmother comforting her. The elderly woman was always there for Yuki, raising her after her parents untimely passing. The girl hadn't cried in years, not since before she had heard of her grandmother passing. She never had cried when it happened. The Sharkgirl had pondered it a few times, eventually writing it off as shock.
Lei had moved off of Yuki, moving to kneel next to her. He was looking down at the crying girl. Her head shifted, and she met Lei's Gaze. For a second, his face looked just like her grandmothers, her memories melding with reality. His eyes looked so much like hers...That was the last straw for Yuki, the dam finally breaking.
The girl shifted, wrapping her arms around Lei and crying into his chest, sobbing loudly. He was warm, soft. Just like Grandma... The bluenette squeezed Lei as she sobbed, years of repressed tears flowing like a river.
