When they got to the top, Lochlann searched her face. Did she like it? What if he guessed wrong? His heart was racing for some reason.

"This... This is amazing! I didn't know there's a place like this in here, the city's so beautiful from here..."

He beamed. He didn't know why that made him so positively incredibly happy, but it did. He set the pizza on one of the tables and was practically bouncing with how happy he is.

"You really like it?" he asked. If he were a dog, his tail would have been wagging. "I am so glad!"

Her touch, though brief, made his smile soften.

"I'd pat your head, but I can't reach that high."

"I know, sometimes it's hard to see you from all the way up here. I have ot be careful, 'Where is Addy? I don't want to squish her!" he teased, reaching over to muss her hair in that annoying way that tall people do just to remind you that they're taller assholes.

"How did you know this place?"

"I uh, I get a lot of my books from here," he admitted. "It's how I knew where your shop was. Look, we can sort of see it from here, though that tree's kind of in the way."

He pulled out a chair for her at the table, though he plunked onto the ground next to it instead.

Adelene didn't just pout, she glared at him for that have ruffling that ruined the green kerchief on her head. Right, she still had it on. She undid it quickly and put it in her pocket, before standing on top of the chair and reaching over to grab his cheeks and pull them. And then she joined their foreheads as she glared at him. "Don't get all confident, tall person! I'll paddle your ass with a metal baseball bat, you understand me??" Her smirk was too obvious though, she was obviously having fun. She let go after that, so Lochlann could have a seat, and then got off the chair.

She followed where he pointed. They really couldk see the shop from there, the tree wasn't even a problem. She then turned back to him, only to find him on the ground. "What are you doing sitting on the ground? Sit on a chair or I'll join you," she said, grabbing the box of pizza.

Lochlann wasn't sure what she was doing when she got on the chair but the next thing he knew, her face was inches from his own. His breath caught in his throat and he became lost in her eyes.

This situation could have been ripe with sexual tension....

.....If she wasn't grabbing his cheeks and making him feel like a hamster.

"Don't get all confident, tall person! I'll paddle your ass with a metal baseball bat, you understand me??"

Lochlann smirked back. "Careful....I might like that."

He couldn't keep the smirk and made a face to suggest okay no i wouldn't.

"What are you doing sitting on the ground? Sit on a chair or I'll join you,"

"I'm giving you an opportunity to be taller than me," Lochlann said, although his bad leg was stretched out before him, betraying the real reason he was sitting on the ground instead of the chair.

"Oh, there's a bottle of soda in my bag for you," he motioned to the bag on the table. His flask was in there, too, but he didn't feel like getting up for it just yet. "I got that weird gross flavor you like."

He'd say that no matter what flavor she liked just to keep teasing her. He took a contented bite of his pizza, enjoying the view and her company. This was probably the nicest day he'd had in a while.

Adelene blinked. When she noticed Lochlann's leg, she realized she didn't really have to ask to know why he was on the ground. She's always felt bad for his leg, and the story behind it, even though he had only told her the summary. Seriously, why would someone shoot such an awesome guy like Lochlann?

She smiled and ruffled his hair, before moving to get the soda Lochlann mentioned. She brought it out and set it down but... she went for the booze after that, ignoring it completely. It was lemon soda but she really didn't even consider opening it.

"Thanks," she said, before opening the flask and taking a few gulps. She knew Lochlann might steal it away so she hopped to a distance.

Even without Lochlann telling her anything, she knew he had drinking problems. She's been with him long enough to know, especially since he always had alcohol with him, and he usually reeks of the liquid's smell. Adelene was secretly worried, secretly because she sensed like she couldn't be too open about the topic. Loch wasn't. So she drinks his alcohol instead. Unlike Lochlann, she was in control over her drinking, even though she almost always drinks in a pub with Kranz every after work.

She put the flask back down on the table soon enough, and joined Lochlann on the ground, crossing her legs as usual and then fixing the dress over her knees. After that, she took a slice of pizza and ate casually while eyeing Lochlann.

Lochlann made a contented noise, though whether that was because the pizza was good or because her fingers were in his hair was up for debate.

"Thanks,"

"Mmhmm," he murmured. He wasn't paying attention at first, and when she hopped to a distance he couldn't help but laugh. "I am not going to drink your soda, relax"

Of course, he didn't realize she'd been in his flask. He was careful to drink before and after they hung out, carrying his flask only for emergencies, but it was taking more and more whiskey to just make him feel like he could handle the day anymore.

He'd never been open to discussing it because it's not like he had a problem, and how the hell would he even explain it without showering her in the details of his messy past?

Worse yet, how could he tell her without reminding her of her own past? Whatever it had been, it couldn't have been pleasant.

She joined him on the ground a moment later and when Lochlann reached for another piece of pizza, he caught her eying him. He gave her an easy, reflexive smile. "It's good pizza, right?"

He leaned against her, gently, bumping their shoulders together.

"When I first came to America, I hated pizza," Lochlann told her. "Of course, I'd only had cafeteria pizza, which I don't think counts as real pizza."

He took another bite, chewing thoughtfully. "I don't think I learned to like it until I was in middle school. The girl who was tutoring me used to bring me a slice every week and told me she wouldn't go on a date with me until I learned to like it."

He rested his head on her shoulder. After a moment he said, "Addy, did you drink my whiskey?"

"It's good pizza," Adelene replied hearing the question, continuously munching and swallowing and enjoying the flavor until her slice was gone and she had to take another. She didn't mind the shoulder bumping thing, although she had to wonder how Lochlann does it since even their sitting height had some difference.

"I haven't been to America. I'm from Europe, been travelling around but I never really got so far until I came here, I mean... Running in circles was okay as long as the circle was pretty big, and Europe's big enough I guess."

She didn't realize what she just said, and she said it so casually. But of course, things would be different if she had to give the details, and she won't.

When Lochlann rested his head on her shoulder, she, too, leaned against him, and reached up from behind to pat his head. She just really liked the texture of his hair, and what's more, she loved how Lochlann likes it.

"Yeah, I had a few sips." She grinned. She didn't empty or even half-empty the flask, but she did drink quite a lot. Enough to lessen Lochlann's intake for the day. Of course, she wasn't going to steal everything away from him all at once, he'd suffer from withdrawal syndrome. "I like your whiskey, Loch. Don't get mad at me, please?" she asked, dropping the grin, and moving her hand in his hair again.

"It's good pizza,"

Lochlann made a pleased noised in response. He finished his slice and didn't take another one, instead shifting his posture t bring his good leg up Indian-style.

"I haven't been to America. I'm from Europe, been traveling around but I never really got so far until I came here, I mean... Running in circles was okay as long as the circle was pretty big, and Europe's big enough I guess."

Lochlann was surprised he'd just got so much information about her past, but he didn't show it. He nodded thoughtfully, trying to determine if he should ask where in Europe, or reveal where he was from.

Technically, Lochlann was from the ocean, so that wasn't really a great answer. He might have been born on the Isle of Man, or maybe Ireland, or even Wales. He had no idea.

Any thoughts about testing the conversational waters were immedietly flooded when her hand mussed his hair.

"Yeah, I had a few sips." "I like your whiskey, Loch. Don't get mad at me, please?

He groaned, but it was lighthearted. "I could never get mad at you, you know that, and it'll be the death of my whiskey."

He blinked for a moment before he said, "Should you be drinking that if you're working, though? What if someone asks for a battle axe and you give them a battle-axe shot gun instead?"

"...Pfft."

Laughter. Adelene's laughter was loud, almost as if Lochlann just said the most ridiculous thing ever. Her hand dropped from his head, and she had to slightly move away to get a hold of herself and so she could bring that free hand to her stomach.

"That's not gonna happen, Loch! First of all..." Her laughter died down quickly. As it did, she went back to patting him again, but this time the pats had this feeling of joking in them. "...I don't get drunk. Not so easily at least. Last time I got drunk, I was... seventeen I guess? I had a drinking competition with a good ol'drunkard in a pub. Whoever drinks more wins. He was down after a bottle and a half of whiskey. I had three, I think. Amazing fight, that one. I won a lot of money there."

While the story was true, it was the only thing about her drinking that she could safely say in front of Lochlann. She couldn't tell him that she sometimes still goes to the pub with Kranz and her coworker Sky after work. She didn't want him to drink more alcohol than he already has.

"...Pfft."

Lochlann was not exactly sure what he expected, but laughter wasn't it.
He pulled his head off her shoulder, tilting it at her in curiosity, but Addy was practically doubled over.

"That's not gonna happen, Loch! First of all..." "...I don't get drunk.

Lochlann blinked at her, once, twice, trying to figure out if she was joking. Flabbergasted, all he managed was, "But...you're so tiny."

Although, he couldn't really talk. Lochlann was maybe 150lbs in his human shape, but he was easily over 900lbs in his horse shape. He wasn't sure how that affected his physiology, but he knew he could drink a lot without it happening.

He'd never really considered asking her what her powers were, or how she came to the islands, but suddenly Lochlann was wondering if maybe, just maybe, it was possible that she'd understand.

The questions died down and he put his head back on her shoulder, wrapping his right arm around her hips lazily. "You're really something else, Addy. I'm very glad I've met you."

Then, before it could touch any sort of emotional area, he asked, "So does that mean you'd be up for a drinking contest some time?"

Adelene pouted and furrowed her brows, being called tiny so directly. Well... she knew she was, and she knew people would never expect her to be a drinker, but life is full of surprises. Although such were normal to her.

"Don't underestimate me, tall person. I'm small, but I have no problem running with an M82 in my arms. It's my sniper rifle in case you're wondering."

She flinched when she felt an arm around her hips. Stuff like that made her shudder, honestly, but since it was Lochlann, and he'd succeeded making her feel at ease around him, her reaction was didn't get any worse, physically. She tapped his hand though, hoping he'd remove it.

"Uh... Lochlann... um..." She meant to say it but the words disappeared even before they escaped her lips, when Lochlann spoke. I suppose I'm also happy around you. YOU'RE something else, Loch. I don't understand how I'm this comfortable around you.

"Huh?" She blinked at him and stared. Drinking contest? She didn't think she'd regret telling him that story. She was careless. But maybe she could work something out with that? "Uh... Sure. I'll take you on anytime. I'm gonna place a bet though." There was no vigor in her answer, but she sounded serious enough.

Before things get any more awkward, she grabbed her third slice of pizza and casually finished it.
