"I could...if I was better," she laughed a little. "I'm not that good at shapeshifting." She motioned to her ankle, where her golden band was. "That's why I have this."

Maddie cleaned up their trays and led them to the stables, located right at the edge of the sports field.

She pointed in its general direction. "That's the sports field. I pretty much never go over there.

Then Maddie pointed the opposite direction of the sports field. "And that's the pool over there.

To get to the stables, they had had to go through the park and gardens, which Maddie made sure to also point out to Pan.

As they had been walking to the field in the first place, Maddie was motioning to buildings and giving Pan one sentence descriptions of what each were.

Tours were hard work! At least, Maddie hadn't tripped or gotten lost, though, so that was something. Small achievements make the day go 'round.

Cocking her head at the brand, Pandora raised an eyebrow.
"Umm, what exactly does that mean? What is it for?" She asked curiously, flinching a bit at the sight of it. It looked painful, almost.

Pan followed her through the tour, making oohs and ahhs at every sight. This was all new and exciting to her, even if it wasn't so for Maddie.

"A pool? Could we go swimming?!" She interjected excitedly. Though she wasn't much good at swimming, she loved it anyways. It was rather hard to be good at it when you can't dive down without turning into a bunch of bubbles and resurfacing, but even so, she loved it.

The gardens, surprisingly, didn't awe Pandora all that much. Rather, it made her homesick, just a bit, anyways.
"It reminds me of home, all these plants. Not quite as wild, though. It was much more messy and coniferous where I lived." She commented.

"It helps channel magic," Maddie answered with a light smile. "My sister gave it to me when I was young, but I don't know where she got it. I never asked."

Despite all of this not being as new for Maddie as it was for Pan, Maddie spoke as though it were. She recalled what it had felt like when she first came here and everything was new in shiny. Sometimes, she missed that feeling.

"Yeah, anytime you want. I think we may have a swimming team? I don't know... Hm. Well, if we don't, I guess someone could always start one." She was getting off topic. Maddie shook her head, "Oh, wait, did you mean can we go swimming now? Cause, I mean, yeah. We might wanna get changed or something, but I don't see why we couldn't."

Maddie liked the gardens, they didn't excite her a great deal, but they were relaxing, and they always smelled nice. She wasn't sure what 'coniferous' meant, but by context, she could guess. "I bet there was plenty to explore where you came from."

"You have to use that brand to channel magic? Huh." Pan commented, a little awed at her powers regardless of her need for the brand. "Could you ever transform without the brand?" She questioned, a curious look on her face.

Her face perked up at the offer to go swimming.
"Right now? I mean, if you want. We could go after the tour!" She offered excitedly, clearly enthusiastic at the chance to see one of the huge pools she had heard about.

While they were in the garden, Maddie seemed almost bored with it. Or maybe just really relaxed.
"Well, yeah. We had woods for miles and miles... The old men said they were endless, but obviously they weren't. Sometimes it was fun to imagine they were, though..." She reminisced, a dreamy expression on her face. "Sometimes, my dad would come visit and take me up to the mountains that overlooked the forest. He always said his house was just a little ways above that, but... I was always too scared to go that high." She admitted, her initial excitement fading to embarrassment.

Maddie thought about it. "Yeah, I imagine so. Sariah, my sister, said my dad could transform on his own, so I imagine I'll be able to, too, when I practice more."

Maddie listened to Pan's story in interest, eyes wide. "I would love to visit a place like that and run through the forest, fly over the trees, climb the mountains. Your mom and dad didn't live together?" She wasn't sure how Pan's culture was about marriage and divorce and all that. Maybe they didn't believe in marriage?

"And I mean, we can go swimming after the tour. I'm fine with that! I can practice my otter form. There isn't much more to show you on the school front of things, honestly. I mean, it's big, but you find most of it while exploring."

"That's cool. I'd be glad to help you practice, if you want. We can go flying any time!" She offered, trying to be helpful to her new roommate. "I never really had to practice my powers, so I guess it's weird to think that way." She said, shrugging. "I guess I was born lucky..." She concluded, a little darkly, almost ashamed that she started out with such privilege when others had to work for their powers.

Pan nodded in agreement at Maddie's statement, looking wistfully around the forest, before glancing back as she finished with the question about her parent's living situation.
"Oh, no, my dad is really busy. He can't always get time to come see us, but he tries. I usually see him a few times a year." She explained, shrugging. "It's a tough job, being a god." She added, as an afterthought, as if to clarify.

"Alright, that sounds great! I can't wait!" She said excitedly when Maddie offered to go swimming after the tour. "What about the city? What's there to see there?" She inquired.

Maddie was taken aback by that. A God? She'd never heard that before, but she knew many demi-Gods in mythology had children with human women. She guessed that Pan's mom was human or something close to it, maybe? It seemed rude to ask right then, but Maddie made a mental note about it.

"Everyone's magic works differently," Maddie grinned when she found her voice a moment later. She figured someone with the magic of a God wouldn't need to practice as much as her, but Maddie wasn't bitter about that fact. It was what it was.

She hadn't taken up to walking again, mostly because she wasn't sure which way they should go on walking. "Well, Manta Carlos has a park and beaches, um, lots of housing, of course." Maddie tapped her chin thoughtfully. "They have a lot of different stores and food places. Pretty much everything, I think. It's a bigger place than you might imagine."

The moment of awkward silence made Pan a tiny bit uncomfortable, but Maddie's smile when she answered reassured her and made her feel much better.
"I guess so." She said simply, not wanting to make the situation more awkward. Technically, she wasn't even human at all, due to the circumstances of her birth, so it was actually more impressive of Maddie to have powers at all. Pan was quite literally a gift of wind granted to her mother.

She listened to Maddie list a few places throughout the city, citing parks, stores, places to get food, and... BEACHES!? She'd have to ask about those later. Maybe they didn't need to go to the pool after all.
"Any cool places to fly?" She asked casually, looking upwards. "I mean, I imagine I'll be doing it a lot, after all." She explained

"Oh yeah! Of course! I mean, I guess that depends on where you like to fly? We have forests, and you could fly over the city if you wanted, or the farmlands. There are a few smaller islands around Manta Carlos you could fly to, also."

Maddie was having trouble determining if there were some sort of designated flying destination. Couldn't you just fly anywhere you wanted? Did she mean some kind of flying course? Was Maddie overthinking all of this?

"Let's go back to our dorm and get out swimsuits. Erm, you have one, right?" Maddie's eyes swept over the other girl in question. "Then we can go to the city, and I'll show you around there before it gets dark."

Pan grinned excitedly as she explained a few places to fly.
"We should really go fly some time soon. I can teach you all about it..." She said dreamily. You would think, being made of air, that one would get tired of riding the winds, but Pan never did. "What about the tall buildings? Have you flown by those?" She asked.

She wondered what exactly Maddie was thinking, as she seemed to lose focus again for a moment. Was it just anxiety? She'd do what she could to calm it, as she didn't want her roommate and potential best friend to be freaking out over the little things.

Her face became blank, obviously confused, when Maddie mentioned swimsuits.
"What's a swimsuit?" She asked, a little confused. "Why would you wear clothes while swimming? Wouldn't the water just pull them off?" She continued, puzzled at the thought.
