Maddie gasped in disbelief. She grabbed Pan's hand and pulled her along to one of the far tables. Like most buffet's, the table had small cartons of milk and large, see-through contains of different types of cereal.

Maddie got several bowls and poured different cereal into each of them. She grabbed a few milk cartons and handed them to Pan.

"You have to try all of them! They're sugary and delicious and worth every bite!"

Pan stared at her blankly as Maddie freaked out. Whatever this stuff was, she'd lived this long without it. That said, she was totally for trying it, as anything new excited her. Her expectations were a little low at first, the stuff looked dry and gross, and you even had to pour milk on it, she assumed to make it moist enough to eat.

She lifted a spoonful of the chocolate cereal in front of her and inspected it, her eyes narrowing.
"Hmm... Okay, well, down the hatch." She said, shrugging and taking a bite. "Huh. Not bad." She said, trying a spoonful of another. This one was fruity and very sugary. She took a bite and shuddered. "Bleeeh... This stuff tastes like wet cotton candy..." She said, shaking her head.

I love that you assumed it was chocolate because I was totally thinking the same thing XD lool. Mental link!~

"That's the Trix," Maddie laughed. "Wait! You've had cotton candy but not cereal?! Oh, you have been missing out. Cereal is one of my foods! And pizza. Please tell me you've had pizza before."

Maddie was for real freaking out. She loved food, and she would have to show all of it to Pan.

She spit the cereal out, her face tightened up in disgust. "Yuck. I won't be trying that again." She said. She just stared as Maddie asked about her having cotton candy. "I mean, yeah, I've had cotton candy. I tried it at the, uh... What's it called? The thing with the horses and the big wheel with people on it?" She asked, rubbing her temples. "...Well, whatever it was, I stopped there on the way here." She explained. "In, uh, Texas, I think. My flights bounced around a lot."

Pan looked at Maddie, confused again. "What's Pizza?" She would ask curiously. As much as she didn't want to let her down, she didn't like the cereal all too much. It was just too dry for her.

"Carnival? Fair?" Maddie supplied, then her mouth dropped again. "Oh man... I'm going to have to take you out to get pizza too! We have this place — Luigi's Pizza. It's awesome."

She stopped rambling.

"Oh, it's like..baked bread with sauce, cheese and other toppings on it."

Pan's brow furrowed in concentration as she tried to remember the word.
"Yeah! Fair! That's what it was!" She shouted in glee, sitting back in her chair. Then her expression changed to one of genuine interest. Pizza sounded, well, kind of weird. Cheese on bread? That just sounded odd to her, but definitely interesting.

"Sure, why don't we go later? I'm up for it." She offered, sampling the rest of the cereal. The one she liked the most was the flaky corn stuff with bits of chocolate, but that seemed rather uninteresting considering the variety. "What's this called?" She would ask between mouthfuls.

"That's corn flakes with bars of chocolate," Maddie told her once she looked into the bowl.

I think that's the cereal you're talking about. I can't remember if that was the name for it or not. XD

"Okay! I'm going to show you the stables and the field next. You seem like you'll like those. Uh, did your people ride horses?" Maddie had tried to find a way to ask that question without sounding offensive. She didn't think she had succeeded.

"That's not rude to ask, is it?" She pondered aloud, eyes shifting a fraction to the right.

Pan tilted her head.
"Really? Not a very creative name, but I like it." She said, shrugging.

As they finished the food, with Pan making sure to eat every last bite, even the stuff she didn't like, Maddie offered to take her horseback riding, asking if it was offensive to ask if "Her people" did it. Pan just stared at her, deadpan, saying nothing, but not breaking eye contact.

After a few moments of awkward silence, she just laughed. "I'm totally just messing with you. Yeah, I can ride a horse." She teased, punching her arm playfully.

For the time that Pan stared at Maddie, Maddie stared back. She became antsier and antsier until Pan laughed.

The relief in the lines of her face and slouch of her shoulder was both childish and amusingly sad. It was pretty easy to make Maddie nervous. She knew that.

She released a long breath, rubbing her shoulder and smiling tentatively.

"Good good. I've never actually ridden a horse before. I figure I should start going over there to learn how to turn into one of those suckers though. Don't see any of then when you're stuck in the city."

The look on Maddie's face was priceless, especially with that sigh of relief at the end. When she told Pan that she'd never ridden a horse, Pan just shrugged.
"I don't see much point in learning if you can just turn into one anyways." She shrugged, pausing to consider for a moment. "I mean, it's still pretty fun, don't get me wrong, so maybe just for the entertainment aspect." She added after a moment.

"Wait, you can't just turn into one? How long does it take you to, like, figure it out?" She inquired, looking out the window idly. "Shall we go?"
