"No promises," Maddie grinned, giving a little playful wink. "Well, I can turn into any animal. Usually. Sometimes I have trouble doing it. Dinosaurs don't count, though, I'm tried."

Maddie watched with child-like curiosity as Pan stood and showcased her powers. She wasn't upset by the flying papers; it didn't put a dent in the mess on her side of the room anyway.

She laughed, spinning around as her hair flew this way and that from the wind. When Pan reformed near the door, Maddie looked around until she spotted her.

Maddie looked around, exhilarated. Something was freeing about the wind, the way it never took solid form — well, almost never. "It's fine, have you see my side of the room? I don't think a few papers are going to make it much worse than it already is."

"That's fine! I mean, I can't talk if I go all raven on you, but I think you'll be able to identify what most of the sights are anyway, and we can always land if we need to."

Pan's smile turned to a frown when she said she couldn't turn into dinosaurs.
"Aww... It would have been cool to ride a Velociraptor for my tour of the school." She joked, giggling at the thought. She smiled in glee at her reaction to Pan's powers, she loved showing off at every chance, after all.

As she tidied up the room with her wind, Maddie assured her she didn't care, and Pan stopped, dropping the papers almost comically, in a cartoon-like fashion, and sighing in relief. "Thank the gods. I didn't mean to make a mess, regardless." She said apologetically.

She frowned again when Maddie said she couldn't talk in her animal forms. That was unfortunate, but then again, Pan couldn't talk while transformed either. She stood there and though for a moment, and then nodded slowly. "Let's stick to our feet for now, then. Shall we go?" She would ask, holding the door politely. "You're the boss, Maddie. Where to first?"

You're the boss, she said. You. Are. The. Boss.

Maddie puffed her chest up, trying to look, well, bossy(?)... bossly(?). Bossly.

"Okay!" Maddie said, "firmly". What was firm to Maddie was probably humorous to other people. She came off more like a cartoon character than someone, anyone, leading anything ever.

She marched out of the room. The pressure was on! "I'll sho you the cafeteria first since you're going to have to go there a lot."

She looked over her shoulder and smiled. "It has pretty much everything."

With that, Maddie started off, a cute little pep to her step.

Bandit waited for her to pass him. He had an odd almost 'wtf' face on. He looked at Pan and sneezed with a shake of his head. He started off after his master.

Pan giggled quietly when Maddie turned all serious. She was taking it very seriously, and it was pretty adorable and kind of funny, like a little kid trying to act like an adult. Pandora stood at attention jokingly, saluting as Maddie passed through the door.

"Cafateria it is! Yes ma'am!" She barked, holding back laughter. Bandit's face was priceless, and she wondered vaguely if the dog was somehow magical or something. She wouldn't be that surprised. This WAS Monte Carlos.

As they left the room, Pan waved her hand and shut it behind her, a sudden gust of wind pulling it shut.
"So, how does this work, exactly?" She would ask suddenly. "The cafeteria, I mean. I've never eaten in a place like this." She clarified, realizing that she wasn't making much sense. She'd lived most of her life hunting and foraging for her food, or at least, waiting for the men to do so. Tribal life was honestly very sexist, but it was all she knew for most of her life. "Where does all the food even come from?"

"The school buys it," Maddie giggled. Not understanding the question. She tried to answer it best she could anyway. "They make new food every day and the leftover food that isn't eaten is thrown away. They buy it from mass producers."

She glanced back and smiled, then caught herself as she almost tripped. She had to watch where she was going!

"The food is paid for here, so you can just get whatever you want and sit down and eat. Like a buffet! Does that answer your question?"

Bandit trotted in front of them, seemingly excited to get wherever they were going. He looped back around and moved behind them, then in front again. It was the impatient walking of a dog ready to run.

Pan's eyes just widened.
"Wait, you throw it all away? How do you not run out?" She asked, both horrified and awestruck. "How do you make it all every day? There's so many people here, you'd never be able to find that much..." She continued, also not understanding Maddie's answer. It was a very different world for her, and she'd only been exposed to a little bit of it thus far.

She still met Maddie's gaze and smiled back, stifling a laugh as she nearly tripped.
"Hey, I know I'm stunning, but don't hurt yourself, okay?" She jeered sarcastically, playing with her hair as if it were much more voluminous.

Once again, her jaw dropped when Maddie told her the food was all paid for, and that she could take whatever she wanted.
"Shouldn't we eat the fruit and vegetables first?" She asked naively. "That way, we can save it before it goes bad." She said wisely, still way out of her depth. "What's a buffet?" She asked after a beat of silence.

Maddie realized with a sudden shock that Pan was even newer to this place than she was. Doubly worse, Pan didn't know about the modern world!

Maddie spun around and tried to walk backward. She wasn't very good at it, she had to keep looking over her shoulder to make sure she wasn't running into anything, and more than once she almost fell backward.

"You can eat the fruit if you want," she laughed, "but they have places to put it, so it doesn't go bad."

At the next question, Maddie thought. As she was thinking, she tripped onto her butt. She was momentarily startled, but she just grinned up at her new friend. Whew! New friend! Her cheeks had reddened again.

She pulled herself up, turned, and walked normally again.

"A buffet is like, a building with tons of food. All different kinds of food lined on tables. It usually has a bit of everything. breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert."

At this point they had reached the cafeteria, so Maddie said, "see," as she opened the doors to the room.

It was actually almost more amusing to see Maddie attempt at walking backwards and talking to her at the same time, nearly falling multiple times and constantly looking behind her. It seemed motor skills weren't a strong suit for her.
"Hey, be careful, I'm not worth breaking your tailbone or something over." She warned, just before Maddie explained the thing about the fruit.

"Wait, I'm confused. Where do they keep it? Does someone have the power to keep food fresh here?" She asked, thinking for a moment. "You know, that'd be a pretty lame power." She added as an afterthought.

She fell over, inevitably, and Pandora actually did laugh this time, long and loud, leaning forwards and wheezing as she tried to control her fit of laughter, which probably wasn't helping Maddie all that much.

Upon seeing the girl's face redden, Pan stopped laughing rather suddenly, instead offering a hand to the girl. "Sorry, that was rude. Here." She would offer, waiting for her. One way or another, Maddie would end up back on her feet, her ego hopefully not too badly bruised, and continuing the tour.

Walking normally again, Maddie explained what a buffet was to Pan, who just blinked. "But wait... What happens when you run out?" She asked simply, almost childlike in manner. That was when Maddie flung the doors open to reveal the cafeteria. Pan just stood there, her eyes widening.

"Oh. You don't run out." She muttered after a few moments.

Maddie didn't seem overly offended at being laughed at, but then Maddie rarely got uppity about anything.

She grinned when Pan finally understood. No, they never ran out. They had so much food they had to throw it away.

Now she has to ask the most important question of all.

"HGave you ever had cereal?"

It was, in a way, sickening to Pan, to see all this food go to waste, but at the same time, she was awestruck by just how much they had. Was this the future? All this abundance, all this food, everywhere? She couldn't even comprehend it.

Maddie's smile met Pan's wide-eyed face, and she halfheartedly curled her own lips into a smile as she processed all of this. Then Maddie asked an odd question.

"Umm, no... What's cereal?" She would ask slowly.
