Maddie hadn't had a roommate since she had come to this place and that had been about a month now. She had anticipated what it would like to live with someone other than her family and was extremely nervous at the idea. When no one ever came, she finally relaxed and stepped into a kind tedium.

She had left one side of the room bare but had taken the farthest from the door and nearest to the window. Her twin bed had a thin, blue comforter and her wall had a few pictures of her family and her older sister, Saria. In her mini-dresser was all her clothes, not neatly folded at all.

It wasn't that Maddie was unorganized, per say, just that her organization was chaotic and looked messy to anyone but herself.

The room was full of animal statuettes and pictures, particularly ravens, wolves, foxes, lynxes, and coyotes. And in the center of the room was Bandit's dog bed, where he currently lay curled up. The half border collie/german shepherd mix was puppy like in its scruffiness and good-natured gaze.

Maddie was laying on her bed, ankles crossed and reading a Geographics magazine. She seemed to be concentrating hard, biting her lower lip nearly to the point of bleeding.

The owner of the empty bed was currently absolutely lost. Mostly for lack of trying, she was far too enthralled with the Academy to notice. The only thing she didn't really appreciate was the uniform, which was rather restrictive of her fashion choices, but at least her purple streaked hair was still showing proudly. She had lost her guide some time ago, and was now wandering the halls with a suitcase in tow, checking room numbers.
"...Fourty one, fourty two..." She muttered, counting room numbers, until she finally arrived at her room. She had absolutely no idea who her roommate was, but seeing as she joined the academy part way through the school year, it was likely she was already pretty well adjusted. Taking a deep breath, Pandora opened the door slowly.

For a moment, all of the air in the room seemed to stop flowing, filling the room with almost eerie silence, as she opened the door and noticed the border collie/german shepherd mix, which was easily the cutest mix she had ever seen.
"Wait..." She muttered for a moment, her eyes not leaving the dog. "We can have dogs?!" She asked, glee clear in her voice as she stepped into the room, rolling her suitcase along with her.

The room was split very noticeably, with one half dominated with a sort of homey feel that resonated from the girl's decorations, namely the pictures on the wall, while Pan's was barren, for now. She wondered what exactly she was going to do with it. For a moment, she just stood there, before shaking her head to snap herself out of her trance, remembering her manners

"Oh, hello." She said politely, holding out a hand to shake. "I'm Pandora. I'm your new roommate." She told her with a smile, setting her bag against the empty bed, as a thought occurred to her. Maybe she wasn't expecting her. It was an odd time in the school year, after all. Turning slowly, she asked worriedly "They DID tell you I was coming, right?"

Maddie sat up the moment someone entered her room. Bandit was already up and padding towards the new girl. He was nothing if not friendly, and it showed in his body language.

He wagged his tail and whined, nuzzling against the new girl's hand. He demanded attention as only a cute dog could.

Maddie got up and set her magazine on her bed. "Oh yeah, we can have all sorts of pets. I think there's a pet store in town. I know a guy who has a small dragon!" Maddie's voice was filled with excitement.

Her roommate already seemed nice, and here she had been worried she'd be stuck with someone who hated her. No, she could work this out. She could have a close friend.

Maddie stepped over to her new roommate in a few large steps, her smile genuine and gentle. There was a slight redness to her cheeks. She couldn't help it. She was constantly blushing in the presence of new people.

"I'm Maddie; it's nice to meet you Pandora." Maddie went to take Pandora's suitcase if she were allowed. Her movements were slow, as to allow the other girl the time to pull back and deny such an action.

"Yeah, it was mentioned to me. I haven't been here that long. Maybe about a month, so, I figured it was bound to happen."

Pan smiled as the girl answered her question about the pets. Already, she seemed really nice, and Pan could definitely live with this setup.
"My god, that's totally awesome! I'll have to go by there later." She said excitedly, impulsively looking out the window, as if the store would somehow be right there. She held out her hand out for the dog to sniff, giving him a second before reaching around and scratching his ears. She had grown up with dogs like this, and it was kind of comforting to see one here, so far from home.

She noticed the girl blushing, wondering idly if she was just really shy. To be fair, she was meeting the person who would be living with her for the next, well, gods know how long, so she was entitled to a bit of discomfort with the situation. Even so, it seemed that she was handling it quite well.

As she stepped over and offered to take Pan's suitcase, she shrugged, letting go of the handle. "Just make sure you've got it, it's heavy." she said, deciding she should NOT lift it with wind right now. She'd probably send all of her roommate's stuff flying across the room, and that would be bad. "You can just call me Pan, by the way. Nobody bothers with my full name." She added, sitting down on her bed as the girl explained that she had heard about her arrival. That was good, she wasn't a total surprise.

Bandit was more than happy to be scratched behind the ear. he leaned into her touch and only broke away when Maddie heaved the suitcase up as much as she could. Heavy was an understatement.

Bandit cocked his head to the side and gave Maddie what could only be described as a comical look. One ear was raised higher than the other. He snorted at her and followed the newcomer to her bed, sitting at Pan's side and looking up at her with large, soulful eyes.

"Oh, okay!" Maddie said as she half dragged, half lifted the suitcase further into the room. "So, where do you come from, Pan? Was it a long trip? If you need any help with anything, I'm always open. I could show you around if you wanted."

Maddie tried to reel herself in. She knew she had the tendency to ask a million questions.

Pan chuckled a little at the look that the dog gave his master, almost cartoon-like in effect. She loved this dog already. He was so adorable, especially his big eyes
"What is his name?" She asked curiously, still petting him. When she noticed Maddie struggling with the suitcase, she stood up to help her, moving the suitcase with her over into the corner. "Thank you." She told her, deciding to wait to unpack until later.

Once she had sat down, she listened to Maddie ask her questions, particularly about where she had come form. While it was awkward to tell the story to most, she had already assumed that everyone on the Monte Carlos islands had a crazy story, so hers wasn't that bad.
"Well, I'm from a tribe in the wilderness, waaay up in north america." She explained simply, figuring that the shorter the explanation, the better. "The trip wasn't too bad, a few hours on a plane was all, and I'm used to it by now." She explained. That had a double meaning for her, as she used to have to take the plane into town to get her schooling, but also because, well, her dad was a wind god.

She would take Maddie up on her offer almost immediately.
"That would be great!" She said excitedly, still petting Bandit. "You could show me that pet shop, too, and I could get this guy a friend. If that's okay with you, that is." She said. While it was obvious that it was, since Maddie herself had a dog, she thought it only polite to ask first.

"His name is Bandit," Maddie smiled. She quietly thanked Pan when she was helped with the suitcase. That thing must have been full of bowling balls or something.

As Pan told Maddie where she had come from, Maddie's eyes grew childishly large. It wasn't a fearful look, the opposite was true of it, actually. Maddie was utterly taken with this story.

"That sounds cool! I'm just from San Fransisco, but I've been hearing about a lot of the students here from all sorts of places I didn't even know existed."

Maddie smiled at Bandit, who had since laid his chin on the girls lap and continued staring up at her all cute like. Pan didn't know it yet, but this was Bandit's version of begging. It was much more effective than barking or whining Maddie had noted when he was a puppy.

"Of course! Bandit is good with other pets. He's pretty mellow for the most part. I can show you around town right now if you like unless you want some time to unpack? It's your choice; I kinda cleared my day today for this reason."

Maddie hoped that didn't sound weird. She thought she sometimes had the tendency to put her foot in her mouth.

If you're curious about what the place has, this is their post.

Pandora looked down at Bandit, smiling wryly.
"Do you call him that because he steals hearts?" She asked jokingly, winking wryly, still petting the dog. She listened as Maddie spoke, still patting the dog cheerily. She just loved dogs like this, or just dogs in general. The dog's begging face was making her heart melt, and in a way, it reminded her of home. It comforted her.

Maddie was surprisingly enthralled with her story; Most people who heard it just sniggered when they realized she was from Canada. That country had a really bad rep for some reason, despite being one of the nicest around. Maddie came from San Fransisco, which was a place Pan actually recognized. "Hey! I've been to San Fran!" She said. "My flight stopped there on the way to Monte Carlos." She explained.

Pan stood up quickly at the mention of going for a tour. It was generally hard to excite her, but right now she was a literal whirlwind of emotions after moving in her and being exposed to all these new things, so as a result, she was more excitable then usual. She actually stood up so fast that she floated off the ground a tiny bit, due to her unusually light body.
"That sounds great! I'd love a tour." She told Maddie with a grin.

Maddie laughed and Pan's question. "I'm going to use that. Bandit steals hearts. He does, doesn't he?"

Maddie smiled at Bandit and took a step to give his head a quick pat. Enthused, the dog's tail wagged with all the attention he was getting.

"Hopefully, you got to get out of the airport," Maddie mused. "Did you get to see the Golden Gate Bridge up close? I used to fly up there when I could." Her smile was distant, lost in old pleasant memories.

Maddie snapped back to attention and flushed when she realized Pan probably didn't know what she was. "I shapeshift," she said with a shy smile.

When Pan stood, Bandit was quick to follow her. He took two steps back in surprise and watched her quizzical. What was she all excited about? His ears perked.

Maddie watched as Pan floated over the floor. Her mouth was in a small 'o' shape, curious and amazed. She had seen people who could float, so it wasn't exactly new, but Maddie was an easily impressed girl.

She met her roommate's eyes and grinned. "Awesome! It's probably better if we start with campus and work our way to the city. It's beautiful, the city that is. They have this beach and a large park — well, you'll see it all, or as much as we can."

Maddie opened the door and hit the tip of her tongue to her two back teeth to make a chittering sound. At the sound, Bandit looked at her and padded casually out of the room.

"Hey, just remember which one of us came up with it, huh?" She teased, patting the dog one last time before getting herself ready to leave. Maddie seemed like she missed her home, or at least identified with the city heavily. Frowning, she shook her head at the other girl's question.

"No, I didn't have time to get out of the airport. I did see the bridge, just not up close." She explained, shrugging, before noticing that she mentioned flying by the bridge. "Wait, you can fly too?" She asked, curious. As she explained, Pandora's eyes widened. "You can turn into anything?" She asked in disbelief. "That's so freaking cool..." She trailed off.

She said this shortly before standing up, floating through the air momentarily, noticing the girl's reaction. "Oh, well, since we're explaining powers..." She said in a brash, confident tone, as if she were about to do something impressive. "I'm a wind sprite. So yeah, I'm made of air." She explained before doing just that, her body melding away into nothing but a strong air currant and circling the room once, sending a few papers flying, before she reformed herself near the door, hands outstretched as if trying to save the papers. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to make a mess!" She shrieked, the papers being lifted quickly and clumsily returned to their positions via her air.

Assuming Maddie didn't freak out at Pan, she would sigh a little, frustrated at the uncontrollable nature of her powers, before nodding slowly. "That's fine, I kind of wanted to see the school first. Maybe we can go for a flight around the city, since we can both fly?" She asked excitedly.
