Samhain Bonfire Evening

Event starts: Sundown Friday, October 26 to Early Morning Sunrise Saturday 27
(Not site time, when event is supposedly happening.)

A huge bonfire for Samhain has been lit on the beach by the Hereafter Club to celebrate the occasion. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy. There is live music, food and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is allowed, but it is a BYOB event and only for those over 18. Those who stay til early morning will be provided with hot chocolate or coffee, pumpkin bread and soul cakes.

Don't forget to bring a blanket or lawnchairs to sit on! Enjoy the evening and its festivities. At the end of the event, when the fire has burnt down to glowing embers. Those brave enough can jump over them three times for good luck, and maybe, if they are lucky, Samhain will also grant them a wish.

There is no posting order. Feel free to post in the thread below (with as many characters as you like), or breakaway into a private event thread. (Also, the proper authorities have been notified and there are police as well as firemen at the event to ensure everyone's safety.)

The date is just a reference to when the event would be technically happening. You can start posting today til November 1.

It was a little before nine o'clock when Celeste arrived at the bonfire, which had just been lit very recently as it wasn't quite at a full roar yet. Walking around the beach area for a while, exploring everything, she looked at the stalls offering food and beverages, all of which were Samhain or autumn themed.

After a bit, Celeste thought it best to wait for Roldan near the water's edge, away from the crowds and groups of people gathering for the occasion.

Aura glanced briefly up at the moon hanging there in the sky as she approached the bonfire. It hadn't been quite long enough since the full moon for her to feel fully normal again but her anxiety had been waning as usual and would probably be gone by sunrise. Going to the bonfire hadn't been her original plan for the night but restlessness had driven her to wander a little after her dinner and she found herself there anyway.

Leave it to the fires of Samhain to draw in a restless Irish girl like a beacon. Whether the festivities would be good or bad for her though, she wasn't sure.

Aura was not really dressed for the weather, wearing a short sleeve shirt and jeans, but she didn't feel cold. She almost never felt cold from the weather. Her left eye, the one not covered by her blue-green hair, was a nice light blue and it was fixed firmly on the large fire as she continued walking forward to stand relatively close to it. Far closer than would be comfortable for most people with the heat. Aura was lost in her memories of her family as the shifting light from the bonfire danced in her eye.

Roldan stepped onto the beach barefoot, enjoying the crisp, cool night air. He'd been invited to the event by Celeste and he couldn't have gotten here faster. He was dressed in shorts and a light t-shirt. Casual. He didn't have any reason to be all and they had promised to do something casual the next time.

He smelled her on the wind and ran over to meet her. "Celeste! Hey! Good to see you." She looked as lovely as ever and he found himself smiling as he approached from the side. "Beautiful night out, huh?"

Celeste had been watching waves, mere ripples now and how the moon reflected in the dark surface of the water. The surface of the water was like a large black mirror that someone had shone an old dying torchlight on. It was eerily beautiful in a dark, Samhain evening way. It also suited the night and made everything seem so much more magical and festive.

"Roldan," Celeste smiled when she saw him appear finally, extremely happy to see him again, looking him over and taking in the fact that he was barefoot like her. She couldn't understand people who wore shoes on the beach.

"You found me easily enough?" she asked curiously, hoping so, as she kissed his cheek in greeting. She was also wearing shorts, a tank top and a long loose cardigan that was open, just in case it got cool that evening. She also had a beach bag with a blanket to sit on later and a few other odds and ends.

Live hadn't planned on going to the bonfire this year. She went last year (or was it the year before that?) and was less than impressed. This year, she was just out in the woods, doing her usual thing, meditating alone in the wilderness — totally normal — when she heard some voices drifting in from the beach. Not surprisingly, this annoyed her. So, she marched towards the voices, ready to pick a fight with someone.

When she arrived, she found herself at the Samhain Bonfire. Now she really wanted to yell at someone, though she couldn't pin point the exact reason why.

She scanned the area, trying to figure out who looked like they were in charge, when she spotted a cop. She felt her stomach drop and tighten. Welp, she couldn't go picking a fight now. She was thinking about storming off to go beat up a tree or something, when she spotted the spread of food and drink. Maybe she would stay for just a bit. She cautiously wandered over, careful to avoid grabbing attention and loaded up her plate with goodies. She found a punch bowl (unspiked unfortunately) and then moved towards the fire.

She noticed a girl standing quite a bit closer to the fire then most people. She stopped a few paces behind and to the right of her and started to munch on her food (mostly sugary things).

Aura didn't notice her at first. Despite her excellent senses the woman was distracted by her thoughts. Not to mention the crackling of the fire and the strong smokey scent of burning wood pulling attention away from her surroundings. But as the woman stood there a few paces behind her she eventually noticed someone eating relatively close.

She jumped a little and turned to see who was behind her. Aura didn't recognize the woman as far as she knew, though that was not surprising since she knew very few people on the island. "Oh, sorry. I guess I didn't notice you approaching," she quickly apologized and scratched at her wrist as she stood there looking a little bit embarrassed.

"Um, I'm Aura," she said sheepishly as she glanced at what Live was eating with the one eye that wasn't covered by her hair. Making a mental note that a lot of it looked pretty sweet. In the sugary sense. But a lot of people there were eating the same things so she told herself it wasn't really a concern.

Live had not meant to startle the woman. She had honestly decided to stand where she had because it was far enough away from most of the people and the girl had looked pretty distracted. She had hoped she wouldn't notice her. Oh well.

She was mid chew of what she had believed to be a doughnut. Her first bite told her it was not a doughnut but it still tasted damn delicious so she kept eating.

"Nothing to apologize for...Aura." Live responded coolly after she finished her bite. "I'm Live." She took a sip of the drink, fairly disappointed by its lack of alcohol, "Can't say I've seen you around." Not saying much since Live's only social outings these days were to bars, though the girl looked about her age so there was a chance they shared a class or something.

When he stepped onto the beach, the sight of the ocean so close took Ishvi's breath away. Almost instinctively he reached out to his side for Jacota, relieved that he'd invited the younger man. He'd been avoiding the ocean since his... incident. Had thought he could handle it fine with someone there, with people and the bonfire. But being here, he wasn't so sure.

"Can we get closer to the fire?" He wasn't a big fan of the brightness, and wasn't sure if Jacota was either, but the slight sting in his eyes helped with the suffocating feeling, and he still had trouble admitting when he felt bad.

Ishvi wondered if any of the Hereafter club members would be talking to people. The club was the main reason he had come here anyway. It was time to stop being so opposed to his other half, and at least learn something about nightmares if he could.

The sun was down, the evening was getting darker by the minute and Jacota had sand between his toes. It was a weird feeling, Jacota hadn't stood on sand in human form in many years, much less his feet bare. But wearing shoes or even socks felt restricting for him, Jacota felt much more comfortable with bare feet.
The sight of the bonfire made Jacota bit nervous, he was cautious about fire, but he forgot all about his own anxiousness when Ishvi reached for him. Jacota automatically took Ishvi's hand firmly in his and gave it a squeeze to tell him he was here. Ishvi was also anxious, Jacota could tell.

Even though Jacota felt nervous about the bonfire he didn't hesitate to nod when Ishvi asked if they could go closer. If it helped Ishvi Jacota could handle his own anxiousness.
Jacota gently tugged on Ishvi's hand and lead them closer to the fire, looking around him and sniffing the environment. Jacota's ears were perked up and his tail swayed a bit, he had come here to because Ishvi had asked him to, he didn't know exactly what this event was about. Jacota looked at Ishvi and tilted his head a bit in question.
"What happens here?"
