The rule probably was easier said then done because it was asking for the deepest kind of honesty. It was like telling a crowded room that you'd just peed your pants. It's the sort of thing that could happen but if it didn't you wouldn't want to openly acknowledge it. Admitting fear didn't come too hard for Cat but she was aware that her weakest point in this rule would be not trying to face down this fear.
"A safe word?" she sounded confused, and then her eyes widened and she blushed furiously. "Oh! Oh like with...." She bite her lip to shut her mouth. "Yeah, I guess so. It's almost exactly like that. Ok. My safe word issss...." she drew the word out thinking. "Raspberries." She grinned. "Or Lochlann, knock it off. Ok?" Her shoulders shook in silent laughter against his side, subsiding slowly, relaxed in a way she hadn't been in days.
She set her coffee down beside her foot when he asked his next question, keeping her hand wrapped around it but it's on solid ground so she wouldn't splash herself again. Her chin lifted again so that her face was tipped up towards his, her nose grazed his cheek, not accidental, and her lips were near his jaw.
"You could always ask."
Dangerous territory. Even in a normal situation for Cat, she normally wouldn't encourage kisses and hand holding already. She was a slow mover, but Lochlann had a lure for her. She was aware it was there, she knew he didn't mean to do it, but she liked it and that made it dangerous and it made her bold.
