Sissel Spectre loved the roof of the school. Especially at night. It was peaceful and gorgeous, an excellent place to relax. That was what Sissel was doing that night: relaxing. He was looking over at the large campus from the roof; feeling the breeze in his hair, his eyes shut.

He'd come up there to get away from the people. They were just.. overwhelming. Sissel knew he'd get used to it eventually, but he still needed his breaks. Secretly, although he didn't want to believe it, Sissel wanted some friends. Some people to show him around, to open his mind.

But alas, no people like that had come along yet. So for now, he'd enjoy the view.

An unplanned Channel Vasco show in the evening seemed like a great idea - except for the part where it took an unnecessary amount of time due to the complicated workarounds required for that nasty timing glitch, and all the care it required. The stream took a full hour longer than the usual one to two hour sessions Andy had, caused a decrease in regular viewership, and generally stressed everyone out to the point that her last game ended with a horrible misplay.

Though she managed to suppress it and keep it from showing too much, she was frustrated. Not for the first time - Arcana Online always had the occasional unfair matchup - but the most consistent frustration so far. It pressed into her forehead, and she cursed her inability to do anything about it.

Cleaning up after the stream, Andy found the stress persistent, and decided that a more relaxing environment was in order. She put on her usual red jacket, left the dorm, and waddled up the stairs in her fluffy slippers and pajamas. The soft on her feet made the journey all the more calming, and the (relative) noisiness compared to her soundproofed room only helped.

While climbing up and calculating the cost of her planned new pet project in her head, she laid her eyes upon someone who clearly had the same thoughts of getting away. Someone was asleep - maybe? - on the roof, which was perhaps one of the less comfortable and healthy places to sleep.

"You're going to get cold there, you know?" she said, sitting herself down near the edge.

Well, there goes THAT idea, Sissel immediately thought upon seeing the other person. Although, maybe she wanted peace too, he was getting some stress signs from her. Sissel supposed he would have to try his best to hold back rude, sarcastic comments. But not all of them.

This new person had some interesting choice of clothing; a hoodie, but with pajamas and slippers. It was nighttime, sure, and Sissel wasn't the epitome of fashion, but still, he noted the appearance.

"It's peaceful out here. I don't mind if it's chilly, I just wanted some quiet." Sissel said in his least sarcastic tone available. He pulled his head away from over the edge and pushed his glasses up. "I'm assuming you want the same thing."

"Maybe? Not really sure why I went here in particular," Andy said, thinking back to that lake outside. It had quite a strange bunch of rumors floating around it, but she'd been there twice, and it was relaxing enough to say the least. Although it was probably too far to go to at this time of night. "AO's bugging out and it's been an annoying couple hours. Best to sit down somewhere and relax before tucking in."

He seemed insistent on being cold, so she figured, eh, I'll keep my jacket. There were a lot of people like that. Maybe he enjoyed being chilled, or maybe he enjoyed coming across as unshakable, or something else. Who knew?

Still, he didn't come across as too amiable. As people who slept on rooftops generally are - Andy tried to recall similar encounters with similar people and as a rule of thumb, they preferred being left alone. Instead, she looked around for a railing, and finding none, decided to just dangle her feet over the ledge. In her head ran numbers and names of fictional creatures, places, and spells, along side calculations - eventually leaking out of her mind through her lips. She began to mutter to herself, forgetting for a moment that she was in the company of someone. [sub]"Four of - no, maybe just three of, and then full mystics, and..."[/sub]

Sissel wasn't sure what do do, if he was honest with himself. He didn't want to come across as cold, but it wasn't in his nature to be open and welcoming. He'd have to be more polite, but not so much it was unnatural. As it turned out, this was oddly hard for him.

"I've never been much of one for video games. I prefer books or finding a nice view. Is the game stressing you?", Sissel asked. This person seemed deep in thought; Sissel didn't think a game could cause so much stress. He wasn't sure if he could help, but he would try.

Video games? Well, to be fair, AO technically was one, although more accurate would be the lengthier and needlessly complex description of "an online version of a preexisting paper tabletop game". Yes, video game was good enough. Also, the fact that he recognized it - closely enough, at least - hinted that he at least knew some of the more obscure media.

Halfway through that particular train of thought she realized - hang on, he's interacting with me. Deciding to eat her muttering for a while, she replied, "Yeah, there was a massive bug, and it caused my show to go way off-schedule. It's been irritating."

Although her head was still spinning in endless adjusting and readjusting of a potential new way to play AO, she decided that it was fine to leave it in the background. Talking to people never did take up too much of her mental faculties, mainly operating on reflex and instinct. "You should probably have taken a book up here then," she said. "Would be better to freeze while enjoying yourself than freezing while doing nothing. "

Show? She must play the game and record it.. I guess people do that even here, huh?.., Sissel thought. This woman still seemed a bit distracted, and Sissel was still struggling to keep up conversation.

"I would read, but the view up here is too breathtaking.. I really enjoy it here, but I still need to get away sometimes." Sissel said. A few seconds later, he shook his head slightly. He realized he was being pretty open. Sissel wasn't sure whether to be proud or confused.

"I'm Sissel, by the way."

He settled on proud.

"A little strange to lie down with eyes closed if you wanted to watch the view," Andrea quipped. She twisted her torso around to face Sissel with her legs still dangling, and stretched out her hand for a handshake, ignoring the several feet worth of distance between them. Right now, the cool air on her bare feet was more important. Besides, he could walk. Probably.

"I'm Andrea. Call me Andy if you'd like." Upon introduction, she quickly thought of her new acquaintance's limited speech, and figured it best to take the initiative. He didn't seem too unpleasant - perhaps shy? Not used to girls? Could be either - he definitely looked young enough to be right at that age where both possibilities were common.

With so many unknowns, Andrea thought to fish for a bit. He'd mentioned books, and those were likely not the kind that she pored over for her academic work. Likely not old copies of Probe either. Perhaps novels? That seemed about right.

"What do you read then? I haven't really had much time to read recently, so maybe I could look yours up," Andrea asked, maintaining her awkward twisted pose.

Sissel stared at the handshake for a moment. He wasn't sure if he found it odd due to the distance, or that it was symbolic. Nonetheless, he walked over and shook it. Then he pondered the book question.

"Well, I used to read sci-fi, fantasy novels. Then I came to the Island and realized it was real. Now I read more realistic fiction stuff. I like any genre, though." , Sissel said in a different tone than usual. It was less nonchalant, it had some actual emotion in it.

Since she had asked him about something he enjoyed, Sissel figured he should do the same. "So, you have some sort of show about this AO thing? I didn't know people did that even here."

((OOC: By the way, Sissel wasn't sleeping, he was just looking over the edge. Not lying down or anything, but his eyes were shut. This didn't affect the roleplay in any way, but I just wanted to put this. @Der Lampman))

At least he was amiable enough to reach for the hand. That told Andrea all she needed to know - if he didn't reach for it, he was likely to not care about further interaction. He seemed amicable enough, and she shook his hand firmly with a small smile. Sissel's statements regarding books and genres seemed to have some unknown weight to them, but with her being more adept at reading abstract numbers than people, she chose to leave it until there would be better information to work with. Instead, she left it at a simple "I see..."

Letting go of his hand, she laid down such that she looked up at him from the ground. Her glasses came off, as she proceeded to wipe them clean with the hem of her shirt and stared at her companion, now blurred. The lighting from moonlight above and his unclear form provided her an interesting palette of colors to view.

"I've had the show ever since I was outside the island, back in Italy years ago," Andrea began, fixing her spectacles back onto the bridge of her nose. "Played the game enough to play it for prizes in competitions, and people started reading what I wrote about it, so I decided to make a show about it, and it earns me a little additional money for uni. Plus, it's fun."

Before she spiraled out of control with that train of thought, she thought it best to stop. In the back of her head the cogs turning to solve a puzzle went silent, pausing their progress for later when she would be alone. "You do anything similar? Review books or write them?"
