Peace be with You

Peace had arrived in Manta Carlos that same day, and immediately found Oceania Park. Amongst the grey, bustling city streets, it was a welcome pop of green. She had planned on finding a quiet place to relax for a while in her human form and get a better feel for the place - she had looked upon the city initially and been saddened by the lack of space. So, she wore her favourite blue yoga pants and a loose, flowy white top with flip-flops on her feet, her curly hair bouncing around her as she walked. Yoga mat in hand, she located flat, soft ground next to a healthy-looking tree to set up at. It was a cool day, cloudy and with minimal wind, perfect conditions to relax in.

Rolling out her mat and positioning herself in the middle of it, Peace started in a comfortable meditation position before switching to more complex moves. Over the years she had tried out all the failed 'trends,' but yoga had been among the few that stuck. It just helped her to really connect with nature, feeling as close to her spiritual form while in a human body as possible.

She exuded peace and serenity around her, a feeling that only the angered could resist. She was satisfied in her own mind, but the atmosphere was unfamiliar to her. Although she would claim she was not interested in society, she silently wished somebody would come and talk to her, and keep her company in the mysterious land called Manta Carlos. She truly hoped she would improve it somehow, or at least protect it from the likes of War.

Having been asleep for the past several hours, Alistair's eyes opened to the sight of the large oak tree above him. Most visitors of the park that walked by him had probably thought him strange; simply sleeping on the ground, just in regular clothing, underneath the tree without so much as a blanket. He wouldn't notice their looks. He yawned as he sat up taking in the surroundings before him. He stood and stretched, considering his next move.

Picking a direction and walking, it wasn't long before something in particular piqued his interest. An aura. His eyes scanned the terrain, searching for the source of the aura. The woman sitting under the tree appeared to be the source. He observed her for only a brief moment. If he was close enough to be in her aura, then she may have sensed him, too. He could tell she was some sort of spiritual entity - but the specifics eluded him. However, if she radiated an aura of peace such as this, he had doubts they would be enemies.

He wondered what purpose a being such as her could possibly have for being here, but quickly dismissed the hypocritical thought as the same question could easily be posed to himself. That being said, there was truly only one way to find out. Perhaps she would even have information for him.

With that logic, he decided to move closer to her. Not wanting to interrupt her ritual - he didn't know what yoga actually was, but her poses intrigued him - he would simply sit down a few feet in front of her and begin mimicking her poses perfectly, assuming she didn't pause to interact with him instead.

Peace was calm. She had balance, she had silence, she had... Company? A tall, young guy stood in front of her, matching her yoga position without error. She was impressed. It had certainly taken her some time to learn the techniques. Taking a moment to look at him, she was slightly surprised.

She didn't know a great deal about Earth aside from gossip throughout the Pantheon, but she still doubted that guys like him came up to strangers in the street and mimicked them. Interesting, she thought. He looked to be wearing casual attire, and seemed a normal-looking human by what she had seen, yet she sensed something... different about him. Peace couldn't quite identify what it was about him that seemed that way, but she also didn't detect any prominent hints of aggression within him.

Having heard about the human society many times before, and even being influenced by some of their customs and pastimes (yoga included), Peace thought she had just witnessed a human act. Nobody in her Pantheon ever did what the guy was doing. Maybe this was an exclusive human custom she didn't know about. Much like Christmas.

She switched positions to a more complex move, waiting to see if the guy would follow. He hadn't said anything the whole time he was there, but Peace appreciated the quiet. Not that she would ignore him, of course. She had to at least make conversation.

"Hello. My name is Peace. Nice to meet you." She said, smiling and trying to maintain her strange pose. She wondered what he was doing the park for a while before remembering she didn't really mind al that much. "Have you ever done yoga before?" She asked, and assumed the answer was yes. He was strangely gifted at it.

"Sincerest greetings, milady." He said in reply with a warm smile, following her complex position(s) without error or even the slightest loss of balance... That is, unless she faltered in any manner. If she lost balance or somehow erred, he would end up repeating the exact same mistake in the exact same manner as she - with a very, very slight delay. "I am Alistair Fordren, and the pleasure is mine." He had heard the term yoga before, but didn't know that this was what it was. It reminded him of a special training he witnessed in a warrior tribe. But that was a different world, a very long time ago.

"I have indeed participated in an exercise similar, but not entirely the same. Many students at the Academy appear to be enthralled by this Yoga you clearly enjoy. A fascinating practice, indeed." While he was not overly familiar with the practice, his mental capabilities allowed him to instantly pick up and mimic such actions. Of course, since he was still brand new to the practice, he would mimic her failures as well with the thought that it was intentional. He didn't even consider the possibility that she could think he was mocking her.

She didn't (yet) point out that he was Celestial in origin. She either hadn't noticed or purposefully didn't say anything. Well, he certainly wasn't going to bring it up. For now, he would simply avoid that subject until it was necessary to do otherwise. Hopefully, she wouldn't turn out to be an enemy.

Well, what a polite young man he was! Peace was taken aback by the way he spoke. It seemed so old, as if he had not developed as quickly as Earth society, with their abundance of 'slang' and shortened speech. She had always kept up on the happenings of that particular planet, as it thoroughly interested her. Even though this was her first time visiting. He was very different to other goddesses' gossip of chiseled models, or their description of the way society worked. She had no clue why, but was immediately interested in the guy's story. He may aid her vague understanding of Earth's inhabitants.

Giving him a warm, kind smile, she prepared herself for a conversation. Her yoga would just have to wait, something that she wasn't entirely unhappy about. She sat down on her yoga mat, legs crossed comfortably.

The name Alistair was also an indication of the old-fashioned sense she received from him. Sure, she had heard the name Alistair over the years many a time, but it was more common in older times and would often be abbreviated nowadays.

Having learnt the skill of yoga as the more challenging human version of her essential practice, meditation, Peace was pleased to hear that other humans took part in and enjoyed it. Yet the way Alistair said 'many students' made it seem like he was not a part of the group. Instead, he mentioned that he had participated in a similar thing. That may have been the reason he could copy her so flawlessly. "Does your exercise have a name?" She asked, eager to find out if she had heard of what he had mentioned.

She had not even thought twice about Alistair's species at first, but she quickly became curious. She didn't yet know if it was polite or even socially acceptable to ask about someone's species so blatantly, however, so she would have to hold that thought. He had something about him though, like a presence, that put the already calm Peace even more at ease. It was like he seemed totally relaxed, maybe more than just the automatic effects of her power. Having heard that Manta Carlos was a little different to the rest of humanity, she asked, "So why did you come to this town?" Or city, she wasn't exactly certain. She hadn't really seen enough to confidently call it either.

((OOC: I'm copying your method of emboldening speech from here on out.. it's a good idea. Hope you don't mind. :coolashell:))

He would mimic her action of sitting, too, but he quickly realized that this wasn't part of the routine and wouldn't continue mimicking her after that. She asked him if the exercise he referenced had a name, to which he would reply, "Indeed, it is known as Muraka-Lo'tiki". He spoke the completely unusual name without skipping a beat, but most native English speakers likely would have found it slightly difficult to enunciate it the way he did. "In translation to this dialect of the English language, it would be, literally, Battle of Souls. It was practiced by a tribal village long ago, especially by its warriors. This tribe was very spiritual, and believed its warriors needed to conquer their own darkness within before conquering the battlefield." He left out the fact that this tribe was on an entirely different world within the multiverse, and that he witnessed it personally.

She asked why he was here. This is where he had to be careful. Since he couldn't outright lie, he wanted to avoid potentially providing an answer that could incite follow up questions. He could always decline to answer, but he disliked being so rude, especially as doing so could simply spark more curiosity, depending upon her personality. However, he did have priorities and he needed to keep the objective of his mission in mind. "I have come in search of information." He said plainly. "I simply find this island and its surrounding area fascinating. Thus, I am exploring to learn more about it." That would hopefully point any follow up questions in a good direction for him to be able to converse without fear of saying something he shouldn't.

He still wasn't quite sure who she was, after all. She didn't appear to be a threat, but there was no telling who she associated with that could be. Not to mention, her demeanor now could be in opposition of her true nature. While she made no hint as of yet that she was aware of what he was, he didn't rule out the possibility that she knew. It was possible she would feel him out through her questions. Part of him considered just leaving and allowing her to think him rude. If she didn't know what he was, this could work. But if she had already figured it out, and/or if she would take great offense to this act and chase after him, running away at this point could cause more trouble than its worth. Further, perhaps meeting with her would be informative. It wasn't like he wasn't curious as to why she was here.

"If I may ask, milady." He started. "I would inquire as to the purpose of your stay, as well. Perhaps you attend classes at the nearby Academy?" It wouldn't hurt to at least ask the same question in return.

((OOC: Of course I don't mind. I copied it off of someone else too))

Alistair had quickly mirrored Peace's graceful transition from upright to seated positions. She didn't notice, however, the exact likeness he executed it in. So he had understood that they were going to be having more than a passing chat now, too. This was good, it would've been uncomfortable if he remained standing, Peace thought.

The way Alistair spoke the name of the yoga-like practice, so fluently and with an unrecognisable accent, made Peace wonder at his nationality. But she wasn't one to be overly nosy, and so kept the thought to herself in case that was also considered inappropriate conversation. The name of it sounded oddly familiar, but she knew she wouldn't be able to remember where from. Two thousand years presented so many memories she just couldn't carry with her. It was like the feeling of déjà vu, another human word she had adopted into her vocabulary.

He went on to explain that the practice was from an old tribe. There were many old tribes she could remember, so she wasn't surprised. But tribes of any sort weren't really in her... Line of work. She shivered slightly at the mention of warriors. But what else could she do, they had 'war' in their name. She didn't associate with fighters. Or those who considered themselves valiant and pure while ruthlessly ending the lives of each other She hoped Alistair wasn't a warrior. It would surely make their relationship much more complicated. Throughout his explanation, Peace simply nodded along, her feelings of curiosity and horror disguised by a calm, blank gaze.

Peace had to commend him on his careful wording. It just showed that he was thoughtful, a rare occurrence in humans, if that was indeed what he was. But he had told her he had come to the island for information. Not a very warrior-like thing to do. But strangely enough, information was one of Peace's key reasons for being on the island, too.

When asked that question, Peace said, "I arrived here to observe human culture, at first. It's always been an interest of mine." Hiding her species was not something Peace took part in. She saw no shame in being a Goddess, and while she didn't tell it to everyone who would listen, she didnt try to hide it, either. So hinting that she didn't actually come from the Earth was really no big deal. "And also for work - I need to make sure everything runs smoothly here." Yes, that summed up her purpose for being there.

As for the Academy question, she answered, "No, no. I'm afraid I'm too old for that now." By 'too old,' she was of course referencing her true age of approximately two thousand years rather than her physical age of mid-twenties. Alistair was most likely younger in both ways, she thought. "And anyway, any schooling I did recieve would be overwritten by experience now How about you? Do you attend the Academy?"

Alistair took note that something about her shifted when he mentioned the term warriors. Did she have an issue with that term? Aversion to violence? Bad experience? She did have a peace aura - but that wasn't uncommon among celestial beings, if that is what she was. This was something he could do, as well - if he wasn't so restricted in a human form. But if she was indeed a Celestial, then an aversion to violence would make sense. Many of them possessed such a quality. Even he did - despite his purpose.

Peace didn't seem to concerned about her identity - her words clearly implied she wasn't human. They weren't proof enough - but they were close. He didn't think she looked too old for the academy - so perhaps she was older than she looked. He wasn't entirely sure by what she meant by runs smoothly though. Was she in charge of something?

"I see. Fascinating." He said at first, in response to her statements. "Officially, I do indeed attend the Academy. In practice, I am afraid my punctuality is somewhat lacking." He replied with a guilty smile. It had been some time since he even attended classes. However, the reasons behind all of that were rather complicated.

"If I understand your words properly, it would seem you are in charge of something, yes? Perhaps a business? If I may, you appear to be rather ambitious and dedicated." There was only one way to find out more information. He would see just how much information she would give out.

Peace noted the way Alastair spoke. She wasn't completely naive, and she knew that very few on Earth would speak the way he did. It was as if he came directly from a few centuries ago... Or perhaps he did. Maybe he wasn't actually human. It would explain the word choices, even the fact that he came to talk to her in the first place. What if he had picked up on her peace aura? She wouldn't deny to any gifted creature or anyone with a basic knowledge of them that she had one.

His fascination with what she said was different to what she was used to. In her Pantheon, she wasn't exactly the most influential member due to her unwillingness to resort to violence and her resulting unpopularity with many of the gods.

Alastair mentioned that he went to the Academy, which puzzled her. She had previously guessed that he was old, based on the way he talked instead of his appearance. Surely he wouldn't still be going to school if that was the case. "Oh, well if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" She said this, hoping it wasn't a rude thing to say. She didn't want him to be offended.

"Well, yes and no," was her answer to his business question. Deciding to explain further, she said, "You see, I am a Goddess. I'm part of a Pantheon, so that is my job as such, which is similar to a business. Of course, I am not in charge of it. I am, however, in charge of a small part. I must make sure everything stays peaceful within the universe."

And that was what she had been doing for the past two thousand years. She had done her job well enough to balance out War's doing, but it wasn't enough to satisfy herself. Earth had, at times, been a neglected area for her and one that she wished to improve upon.

That was quite an interesting question to respond to, how old are you? There wasn't really a proper way for him to answer this. But he found a way to do so without lying, regardless. "Not at all, the age of my body is Seventeen years, *** " He also included the amount of exact days, hours, minutes, and seconds in his answer. Hopefully she wouldn't pick up on the fact that he specifically referred to his body. Then things would become a bit more complicated.

She outright admitted to being a Celestial. He didn't have any reason to think she was making it up - it explained a lot about her. But the fact that another Pantheon was present made things somewhat difficult. He wasn't aware of any other spiritual beings being directly present here. But this is where things truly became a conundrum - if this Goddess was here to "keep the peace", as it were, then maybe she had knowledge of the dark object he was seeking. Perhaps she would be capable of helping him - or even willing to do so.

When Peace admitted to being a Goddess, there was no visible shift in Alistair's demeanor. His eyes did not widen, his body did not shuffle. There would not even be a bead of sweat or any other unintended reaction to her revelation. He decided to keep his identity secret until she outright asked him, as he still wasn't certain of what her reaction would be. She claimed to represent peacefulness - both her words and name claimed such. He didn't think she was lying, but there was no telling what she was capable of. If she somehow perceived him as a threat to this peacefulness, would she denounce him? Or perhaps worse?

"A Goddess?" He asked, crossing his arms with a thoughtful look. "Milady is present to ensure peace is upheld? One wonders if that implies there is a reason to think it is threatened." He examined her with a curious look. Maybe he could get her to tell him about whatever it was that could threaten this peace. Oh yes - he wondered very much what it was that she knew.
