Name: Alistair Fordren
Age: 16
Birthday: July 1
Gender: Male
Species: Human (Celestial Guardian)
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: 11

Appearance Description: Alistair stands at just under 6 feet tall, with a slim athletic build. His brown hair has been given a crew cut, and his brown eyes typically dart across the room as if searching for something. His clothing is generally pretty plain, never having graphic designs or obvious logos. He usually prefers collared shirts with jeans or cargo pants. Generally, he has an air of awkwardness about him.

Personality Description: Alistair deals with many anxiety issues, finding it difficult at times to trust others or open up to them. When speaking to strangers, he often trips over his own words and awkwardly avoids eye contact. Despite the awkwardness, he often finds himself listening to others who need someone to talk to, or even trying to assist them in working through their own issues. At the core, he tries his best to be a contributing member of society, but often struggles as a result of past trauma.

Additionally, he finds himself being conflicted about his recent "appointment" as a Celestial Guardian. Not particularly interested in running around killing people, he finds himself in a position where he must choose to do something he feels is wrong - or be killed by the other Guardians.

Active Abilities:

Guardian Form: Alistair enters his Celestial Guardian Form by donning the Guardian's Raiment, which is done by speaking the invocation to summon his Guardian weapon: Eternal Dawn. When Alistair is in Guardian Form, his eyes glow gold and never seem to blink, constantly gazing in a manner that others always feel as if he is looking at them, no matter whether he is or not. He dons a white-and-gold raiment which seems to replace any other clothing he was wearing, and multicolored silky cloth tendrils sprout from his back, seeming to dance as if they have a mind of their own. The tendrils seem incapable of grabbing on to anything or being grasped - they somehow always manage to wriggle out of anyone or anything's attempt to grab them. Despite not being able to fly, he always appears to be floating just off the ground, and his movement appears graceful and unhindered by gravity or uneven terrain (this is more of an illusion - he cannot fly, and can still trip and such).

When in Guardian Form, he cannot access his Dreamwalk or Truthsight abilities and he is unrecognizable from his human form.

Passive Abilities:

Dreamwalk: When sleeping, Alistair often leaves his body in a manner of Astral Projection. When doing so, he visits other people in their dreams and can interact with him. He rarely has any control over this power, and typically doesn't realize he is doing it when it happens. When he wakes up, he has only vague memories of everything he saw and said. Most interactions with people in their dreams involve talking to them about their personal issues or conundrums, and these problems can range from small and inconsequential ("what do I want to do on my day off?") to gigantically life altering ("I plan on killing myself tomorrow"). When Alistair interacts with people in this manner, typically neither of them will realize its a dream until they wake up. If either of them realize they are dreaming, it is possible that one of them will wake up early - which will also cause the other individual to wake up (assuming this is possible - it won't break comas and such).

Alistair will not have enough of a memory of the situation to be able to accurately recall who he spoke to in the dream. However, if he sees the individual face-to-face he will instantly remember everything about the dream with that person. On the other hand, the individual will be able to remember the dream but will not recognize Alistair unless Alistair mentions the dream itself to the individual or mentions that he has this power. In the event that he does, the individual instantly remembers Alistair clearly being in their dream.

Despite not remembering Alistair's face in the dream, individuals who were visited by Alistair via Dreamwalk will be drawn to him if they see him in the real world. The exact effect and strength of this draw is dependent not only upon the individual, but potentially varied depending upon the situation in which they meet. For example, they may find him to be more physically attractive than they would normally, they may perceive him as extremely friendly and helpful even if they have no clear reason to, or they may think he looks pathetic and in need of a helping hand. Whatever effect occurs will make the individual more likely to strike up a conversation or attempt to interact with Alistair in a meaningful manner. However, this effect doesn't alter their own free will, and won't "force" them into doing something they would normally never do. The duration of this "draw effect" can also vary from person to person. If the interaction in the dream between the individual and Alistair was particularly impactful, the draw effect is likely to be stronger and last longer - potentially multiple days, or even a few weeks. As time goes on, the effect weakens until it dissipates entirely. If the individual and Alistair actually meet and have any sort of conversation, the effect will fade after a night's sleep.

Individuals will instantly remember/recognize Alistair in any circumstances of Dreamwalk (in the past or future) if he mentions to them that he has such an ability - even if they normally would not believe he actually possesses the ability (example: people who don't believe supernatural powers exist, or they just think he's joking/lying, etc.).

Alistair is nearly impossible to awaken when he begins a Dreamwalk episode. However, harm to his body will always return him to the waking world.

In order for Alistair to Dreamwalk into someone's dream, he must have Soul Consent: The individual wishes for help and is, deep down, desiring another individual to talk to - even if they consciously would not decide to. Individuals providing this consent are never aware of it, and have no conscious control of it. Besides this requirement, Dreamwalk does not seem to have any sort of distance limitation, although it tends to happen more frequently to those closer to Alistair's sleeping body. (Note: for player characters, this is translated into consent from the player who controls said character.)

Truthsight: Alistair can always accurately tell if an individual is lying or telling the truth (in both the waking world and when using Dreamwalk). This ability works for all manner of communication (including nonverbal), even if Alistair does not understand or know what the individual is actually saying. For this to work, he must be looking at the individual at the time the communication occurs. For example, if someone is writing a note, he can tell by watching them when they are writing something that is true or false. Despite knowing this, this ability does not allow him to actually know what is being said. Additionally, he would not be able to read the note afterwards and know which part was truthful or lying (at least not without trying to compare to his memory of when he knew the other person lied). He only gets the sense that someone is being truthful or not at the exact moment the communication occurs, and only if he is looking at the person. Further, he must be looking at the individual in real life. TV and other such devices will not work. Thus, he could not look at a recording of an individual speaking and be able to use this power, nor would he be able to use it on someone who is speaking over a radio.

In addition to the above, Truthsight gives a strictly binary response. Something is either true, or it is false. If something is said that is only partially true, then Alistair will receive a sense that it is false. This response is based upon whether the individual believes they are lying or not. For example, if the individual said "two plus two equals five" and truly believed that to be true, Alistair would get a sense that they are telling the truth and not lying.

Weaknesses:

Narcolepsy: As consequence to being a Celestial Guardian, Alistair frequently finds himself tired and sluggish. He has sudden cases of narcolepsy where he falls asleep randomly without warning. To make this narcolepsy worse, he can often begin a Dreamwalk episode when this sudden sleep occurs which causes him to stay asleep for far longer than the typical narcoleptic.

Silenced: Guardians are physically unable to speak, write, sign, or communicate in any way the purpose of the Celestial Guardians (in both forms)

Guardian Alias: Corona Starfire

Guardian Theme
: Dreams, Space, Time

Guardian Personality: When donning the Guardian's Raiment, Alistair tends to become more logical and less emotional. He is more likely to forgo personal biases and instead handle situations in a completely cold, calculating demeanor. He often struggles with this change within himself, which can lead to internal conflict at times - especially when the transformation ends.

Eternal Dawn: Alistair's Guardian Weapon, taking the form of an arming sword.

Passive Abilities:

Tough: Celestial Guardians are more durable than the average human, their bones are less likely to break and their wounds are less likely to be severe in natural. A fall from the top of a building will hurt them but will not critically injure them. If they are sick or disabled in their human form, their Guardian form is completely free of such complications.

Guardian Sense: All Guardians can sense the presence of other Guardians when in Guardian form within a 50 foot radius, though not exact coordinates or direction. This helps them maintain territories. They can also sense whether someone/something is an evildoer/abomination upon meeting them. If a Guardian is to be culled, Guardians have an enhanced ability to sense that they are a Marked Guardian in either form.

Peak Form: Guardians have heightened reflexes and agility, though it never surpasses the peak of human limitations and is only a few degrees greater than what they're already capable of in their natural form. Guardians feel full of energy when in their Guardian form.

Unrecognizable: Alistair is unrecognizable from his human form when transformed.

Sabaism: The foundation of the Path to Eternity. Fortifies Alistair's mind against psionic attacks and other harmful effects that target the mind - such as mind reading or mind control. However, he is not necessarily immune to such effects. This is only effective when in Guardian Form.

Weaknesses:

Silenced: Guardians are physically unable to speak, write, sign, or communicate in any way the purpose of the Celestial Guardians (in both forms)

Exhaustion: Being in Guardian form is extremely exhausting and can only be maintained a few hours a day. After transforming and being back in their natural form, extreme exhaustion hits him and he is very likely to completely black out and sleep for up to 24 hours unless disturbed.

Narcolepsy: All Guardians have a case of narcolepsy when in their natural form and are very likely to frequently pass out , experience exhaustion or have a cataplexy attack.

Transformation... Sequence?: Guardians cannot enter their Guardian form without going through a magical transformation sequence. This leaves them vulnerable for at LEAST 40 seconds while they transform. For Alistair, this involves speaking the invocation to summon Eternal Dawn. If he is unable to speak, he cannot undergo the transformation.

Alistair grew up in a city on the mainland, born to parents who valued him little. Constantly feeling unloved and out of place, he sought ways to grab attention and feel important. When he was a young child, this resulted in bullying and acting out in class. Constantly getting into trouble at school, feeling unloved at home, and finding himself with few friends, he would sink deeper and deeper into depression - before the thought came to mind that maybe life itself wasn't even worth it.

When he turned 15, he started having bizarre dreams. He began to realize that he was always seeing people who were crying or begging for help. Most of the time, he tried to ignore them. After all, he had his own troubles to deal with. Plus, he never quite realized it was even a dream until he woke up.

Then, he began to notice that he had a very acute sense of when someone had been lying to him. It was faint at first, and sometimes not entirely accurate. However, after a few months' practice, he could tell when someone was lying with a near 100% rate of accuracy. He realized this was also working in his dreams, and soon found himself talking to the people he was seeing.

Several nights in a row, he found himself talking to a little girl. The poor girl was always afraid. "He is going to get me!" she would say, over and and over again. Most mornings, Alistair woke up in tears himself. The image of the child crying engraved in his mind. Up until this point, he thought the dreams were a result of stress or some other explainable phenomena. However, it was that day which changed everything he knew about reality.

He was walking home from school, and crossing his path was a large man with a young female child holding his hand. Instantly, he froze in shock, observing the two walk by him and then cross a busy street. He knew that girl - it was the one he had seen in his dreams. There was no mistake - he remembered every detail of her face.

He followed them. He had to. He didn't know why he had seen her in his dreams, but he had to find out what was going on. The two made their way into the city park, and Alistair continued to follow. Somehow, he had managed to avoid being seen until now.

Before long, he noticed that the girl slowed down, and the man tugged her to force her to keep up. He heard a small cry from the girl, and soon he began to realize that this wasn't a good situation. He heard the man say "your mother is just on the other side, waiting for you in the car", and his senses told him that it was a flat-out lie. Every ounce of his being told him that there was something wrong with this scene. So, in a weak, cracking voice, he called out.

"H-hey!" Alistair said, barely loud enough to even be called a yell of any sort. The man didn't stop. "I said wait!", this time with more force. The man stopped, and both he and the young girl turned to look at him. He could see now, the girl had tears in her eyes.

"What? I'm in a rush, mind yer business, kid." The man said, with a nod, before starting to move again.

"I don't think that girl wants to go with you. ..Right?" The tears reconfirmed his thoughts, but he looked to her, to be sure. A look of fear washed over the girl's face, and she slowly shook her head. Alistair felt a sense of truth come from her nod. Apparently, this new sense of his worked with nonverbal communication, too.

"I'm her father. She'll go where I say she goes." The man said. Alistair took a step forward, and that was when he realized that the man had revealed a revolver hoisted onto his belt. This caused Alistair to pause, a sudden fear overtaking him. The man gave a look of that's what I thought and started to turn again.

Alistair wasn't sure what to do. Was that it? Would he just give up? It was then that he felt it - a sudden, overwhelming surge of something. A deafening roar of voices, all at once. As if time stopped for only that brief moment - and his attention was grabbed elsewhere. He couldn't comprehend it. He couldn't escape it. And he certainly couldn't stop it. The shear force of the sudden, incomprehensible experience nearly drove him mad. Maybe it even did.

The only thing he could remember next was the man lying dead next to him in a pool of blood. His own hands and clothes, too, covered in blood that wasn't his own. The little girl cowered a short distance away, tears and horror in her eyes.

He did the only thing he could think to do. He ran. And he found himself constantly tripping over himself, and fighting the urge to pass out. Whatever had happened, it had drained him entirely. But he couldn't pass out there. He fought it. With every once of his strength. The bustling streets and crowds of passersby around him a blur, he made it to an alley - and collapsed. He urged his body to move. To get up again. But it wouldn't. It was so heavy. His eyelids, too, were too heavy to keep open.

He saw a shadow from the corner of his eye. The figure of a person. The person knelt down beside him. He couldn't make out their features. The world around him was too dark, now.

"Don't worry, we can help you." The person said. Just before his consciousness faded, he felt the sense of truth in those words.

The next time he woke up, he would find himself in Starlight Academy.
