"Alright, no worries. Just a shame seeing a cute girl sitting by herself at a great party like this, y'know?" the guy replied in that same sort of smooth tone. He smiled and scooted a little closer to her. "Don't think i've seen you around here before. my name's Darren and I could show you around a little if you like?" He wasn't being pushy but it was clear he was trying a little hard to be charming and friendly with her.

At that point Tuesday was walking back over with their drinks when she saw Wednesday sitting with the guy. He was definitely older but judging actual age there on the island was always a little bit hit or miss. She wasn't sure if Wednesday was enjoying the attention or uncomfortable but the group of guys not so subtly watching the interaction threw up a couple warning flags for Tuesday.

So she did what she did best. Tuesday strolled up and slipped her way between the group of guys and Wednesday. Handing over the drink she smiled and eyed the guys. "Here's you drink.. Meeting a few new people Wednesday? I can make myself scarce if you'd like some time sitting here talking with cute guys," she offered but really she wasn't going to just leave her alone with the guy(s). A little privacy and space if the girl wanted it

Wednesday found herself blushing again, shrinking a tiny bit into her seat, a little awkwardly.

"Oh yeah, I'm new around here. My name's Wednesday, and uh..."

Oh jeez, she knew before she got here that she was likely going to meet new people but she really hadn't prepared herself well enough for it. How did people usually respond in these kinds of situations? She didn't know, and she could feel herself getting more anxious as a result, until Tuesday finally returned with the drinks. She relaxed a little once she arrived, taking her cup graciously. When Tuesday asked her question, however, that same look of uncertainty returned.

"Oh, I um..."

Despite her obvious nervousness around new people, Wednesday didn't think the attention was strictly bad. You were supposed to mingle at parties, she knew that, and so far this Darren guy seemed friendly enough. Once again, in the back of her mind, she was berating herself. This sort of thing was normal, it was something everyone else clearly had no trouble doing, she shouldn't be making such a big deal out of it. She took another long sip from her cup, hoping the alcohol might help.

The fear of doing something stupid and embarrassing herself was still there, but what kind of witch would she be if that stopped her?

"I think I'll be ok, thanks." She said to Tuesday, before looking back at the guy. "I'd like that, Darren, sure."

What's the worst thing that could happen?

Darren smiled at the girl's shyness as he leaned in just a little bit. He had none of the nervousness that Wednesday did- he had been to several parties like this in the last year or so. Plus the drinks he'd had were helping too.

He glanced at Tuesday coming back and smiled at her too but returned his attention to Wednesday. There was a bit of a smirk as he saw her drinking more from her cup. Liquid courage and all that. "Cool, I can show you around when you're ready. No rush," he said as he stretched his arm out along the backrest of the couch and turned towards her more.

Darren pretty much ignored Tuesday after getting a good look at her up and down. He'd specifically approached Wednesday, not her. He lowered his voice to be just barely audible over the music as he complimented Wednesday, "That dress looks great on you. Don't think everyone could make something so simple look as good." Technically he had effectively said her dress was simple so it was mixed compliment and criticism but the important part was him saying she looked good.

Tuesday raised an eyebrow but Wednesday deserved to have some fun and who was she to get in between them? She nodded at her sister witch and gave her a reassuring smile. "Ok, i'll be right over here if you need me," she chirped and slid over a few feet away to where a few college girls were leaning on each other and dancing a little sloppily. She smiled and laughed and before long she was dancing with them too easily enough.

However she tried to keep a casual eye on the couch as she let herself enjoy some more dancing and made sure her secret weapon was out and about nearby. Tuesday was foolish and did stupid things sometimes but she wasn't dumb. Whenever she went out to a party like this she made sure Cami the wolf familiar was slinking around nearby for her. She almost never needed to call for her help but it was comforting to have her around. Made for a nicer walk home if she didn't end up going with someone else anyway.

There she goes. Wednesday gave her a little wave as she watched Tuesday leave to dance with the other girls. This was probably for the better. She thought the older witch would have more fun with them than she would babysitting her, she'd be fine by herself for the moment, surely.

She returned her attention back to Darren, continuing to drink as he talked. The alcohol was helping, her body was visibly loosening up, the pleasant buzz in the back of her head felt nice. She was still pretty obviously nervous, but she didn't need to force her smile.

"I uh...thanks!" She said, running a hand through her long braid as she kinda glanced left and right, not quite looking directly back at him. She either didn't notice or didn't really care about the possible double meaning. "I don't really wear it all that often, or um, wear clothes like this that much its kind of the only dress I actually own and since I don't really have anything else that would look good at a party I just kinda went with it so um...ah..."

She realised quickly that she was about to start rambling on, but thankfully she cut herself off before it got too long. God, its barely been a minutes and she was already making a mess of things. Just calm down, she told herself. Relax, don't be so awkward. Just because the guy was confident and kinda hot didn't mean she had to be so nervous. She took a breath, before finally looking back at him.

"So, um, do you go to a lot of parties like this?" She asked, before taking another long drink from her cup.

Tuesday smiled and waved back at Wednesday before she became "distracted" by the other girls she was dancing with. She'd absolutely be able to have all kinds of fun with them. Tuesday let herself relax a little and enjoy the company as she danced. Wednesday was shy and maybe a little naive but she'd surely be fine just sitting there on the couch right? And it wasn't like Tuesday was abandoning the girl- just letting her have a little well-deserved privacy for a few moments.

At least that's what she told herself as she closed her eyes for a minute to just let her body react to the music and people with her.

Wednesday was definitely loosening up, Darren realized. She didn't appear to be much of a party girl, but heck she was there and he was there so why not enjoy the night?

As the girl started to ramble he smiled and let his hand casually slide down off the backrest of the sofa to rest on her shoulder. "Hey, hey... I think you should just kinda go with things more often. It worked pretty well so far, right? At a great party with a somewhat decent looking guy and everything," he joked at his own expense but kept his warm hand there on her shoulder.

"Sure, i've been to a bunch of parties. You could just call me you pocket expert," he laughed and looked her in the eyes. "You wanna head outside? I can show you the back yard and we can actually hear each other talk." His offer was mostly legitimate, though he was secretly hoping to steal a kiss or something when her friend wasn't around to stare at him so much. What, was she some kind of crappy bodyguard or something?

Wednesday was most certainly not the kind of person to just go with things. She liked it when things were neat and orderly and tidy and planned which, so far, this night had not been at all. But, he did have a point. She was just going with things right now and so far it was nice. Nerve-wracking, but nice. She kinda just shrugged awkwardly when his hand touched her shoulder, it made her feel even more nervous, but not enough to make her shy away from the contact.

"Yeah, I uh, guess you're right." She said, having a little girlish giggle at his jokes.

At this point she had gotten plenty of rest, no longer feeling the exhaustion from the dance. With the music still blaring in the background and the alcohol working its way through her system, she was starting to feel the energy again, the atmosphere around her. It made her feel emboldened, just a little, enough to where Darren's offer sounded fine to her.

"Sure," She called out over the music, moving to stand up from the couch. "Um...lead the way!"

"Great, I promise it'll be fun," he grinned and took her hand to lead her through the house to the back door. He wasn't pulling her or anything but it didn't take long for them to get up from the couch and disappear from where Tuesday would be able to see them.

"Oh, and you're really cute when you're giggling like that , you know," he whispered in her ear as they walked. Outside the air was cooler, especially after the heat of so many people in one room inside. Only a few people were out behind the house but they weren't paying those two any attention at all. The back yard had a large pool that was closed for the season, all kinds of trees and bushes arranged around the yard, and several nice looking gazebos. Tucked up out of the way but near the house was a hot tub that didn't appear to be shut down for the winter.

But he was leading Wednesday to an empty gazebo overlooking the majority of the garden.

Tuesday had closed her eyes as she enjoyed the company of the other girls for just a little too long. When she opened them again and shifted to check on Wednesday's budding social life, her heart dropped. The girl was gone and so was the guys she was with. Even the group of guys that the guy had been talking to were nowhere to be seen.

Shit shit shit.

She alerted Cami with her thoughts. An image of Wednesday. Seek. Protect. The response was hard to describe in words but she knew Cami had understood. As Tuesday stopped her dancing to start slipping through the crowd Cami began circling the house outside the fence.

Tuesday couldn't find the girl anywhere. She wasn't dancing again and she hadn't gone to get a drink. There was the panicked thought that maybe she was upstairs... but then Cami had found something.

Through the air Cami noticed the somewhat familiar scent of Wednesday. They had not spent a great deal of time together but Cami had been there for the latest big ritual in the coven. Enough time around the witch with a cat for a familiar to recognize it. Scent. Close. An image of jumping and a wagging tail.

Tuesday realized that meant Wednesday was outside. She rushed to the door and then paused. What if she was overreacting? The girl was probably just having fun finally- she hadn't seemed thrilled by the loud music. The older girl slowed down and told Cami to jump and wait unless Wednesday was in danger.

The all black wolf leapt up over the fence and then crept through the garden to draw closer, trying as best she could to avoid being seen. If nothing else the wolf could rush in to keep the girl from getting too cold.

And just like that, Wednesday was blushing again, another little embarrassed giggle escaping her after the compliment. “Oh, c-come on, stop.” She stumbled over her words. “I’m not really cute or anything…”

She followed him outside without complaint, letting him lead her along by the hand. She was grateful to be away from all the noise, while she was starting to get used to the loud music and the big crowds, she did appreciate having a reprieve from it all. At the moment, the thought that Tuesday might panic now that she was out of the building was far from her mind. She was enjoying herself inside, and Wednesday was enjoying herself outside.

“It’s nice out here,” She said, glancing around the backyard. She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering just a little bit, her weakness leaving her a little more sensitive to the temperature than normal. “A bit cold though.”

She found herself subconsciously standing a little closer to Darren once they were in the gazebo, feeling the warmth from his body heat.

Cami drew close enough to peer out from under a bush at the couple. Her body shrouded in the shadows of night, she lay there waiting and watching. She wouldn't understand the intricacies of human relationships, but she would be able to tell if Wednesday was being hurt. Probably would be able to notice if the human girl began to act fearful.

Not seeing any major issues, the wolf curled up to close her eyes. Ears perked to hear any issues, but otherwise not interfering.

Tuesday sighed uncomfortably and rubbed at the stump where her hand used to be. She felt like she should be doing... something. But as far as she could tell there was nothing wrong. So she leaned on the wall by the back door. Not enjoying the party. Just hoping things would go well for her sister witch, and thinking about what she would do if things turned sour. The faint smell of burning entered her thoughts.

Wednesday shrunk into herself a little again, though this time the warmth combined with her already lowered inhibitions made her a little less uncomfortable with the close contact. She was still taking in the scenery as he talked, before eventually looking back at him. And almost immediately looked away once their eyes met. Oh boy, they were close, that still felt awkward. She fidgeted with her hands, trying to keep her mind off the proximity. She still hadn’t messed this up yet, she wanted to keep it that way.

“Oh no you haven’t screwed up at all!” She quickly said. “I’ve been having plenty of fun. A lot more than I was expecting to have, actually. I just, um…”

She rubbed her arms, bashfully.

“I’m just, y’know, not used to this sort of thing…which I guess is pretty obvious.” She nervously giggled again. “Sorry about that…”
