Midnight Swim (King)

Emily strolled casually along the pathway, the moon illuminating the night just enough for her to not lose her way or trip. The dark was so very pleasant, when night fell it allowed her the chance at a break for all of her senses. Everyone went to bed or to study, and she was allowed some time were shy wasn't surrounded by people, however much that was by her own orchestration.

It was nice to be able to come out her like this in the summer, when you didn't have to worry about the cold much. She was able to dress up a little and put on flip flops and a nice white sundress for her wanderings... Though she was still a little bit cold. She wrapped her arms around her self as she walked over to the waters edge. Curling up into a little tiny ball she slipped her flip flops off and rested her feet in the water of the lake.

Come to think of it, she hadn't really made any friends since she came to Manta Carlos... She'd been trying to interact with people as best she could, but really all that got her was an embarrassing encounter with half naked people at a barbeque... Sitting on the edge or the lake bed, she made a very lonely looking figure in the moonlight.

Staring into the calm water of the lake, Emily noticed a shadow emerge over the crest of the cliff. There wasn't enough light to make out anything distinct, but as the figure dove off the cliff, she though she caught a faint shimmer of Yuki's fins before she disappeared into the water.

Emily just watched for a moment, waiting for the figure to emerge again. Ten seconds... Twenty... Thirty... no sign of the other being. Emily pulled her feet out of the water again, simultaneously panicking about the other person possibly drowning but also afraid it might be a monster...

She stood up and drew her arms into her chest, fidgeting idly as she stared at the lakes surface and looked around for anyone who might help. "Um..! Uh..! Um..! W-what should I do?"

Emily danced around a little on the shoreline. Should she try and help, or go get someone, or just run away or what? Was that shadow a monster, or a person? Why would a monster jump off a cliff? Why would a person jump off a cliff?! There were to many questions and not enough answers for her to make a concrete decision.

After a lot more fidgeting and a few panicked noises, Emily stripped off her dress, leaving herself in her underwear. without thinking further, she dove into the lake to try and find the person, hoping they weren't to long drowned for her to help them.

This was a terrible idea! She couldn't see anything! The moonlight barely penetrated the murky lake water, and all she could do was make out shadows and feel around the bottom in hopes of finding something. As she neared the deeper section of the water, a plant curled around her leg, and she let out a garbled "Eep!" along with most of her air. Swimming back to the surface, she coughed out the stale air and filled her lungs again, diving back down.

Emily flailed about in the water, still panicking on the other girl's behalf. Diving deeper into the water, she scanned about the bottom of the lake bed for the body until her eyes fell on the shark girl. Emily just sort of floated there for a moment as Yuki waved, taking in the fins and gills of the girl that was obviously perfectly fine.

The moment was broken when her body convulsed as it demanded fresh air. Emily pressed her hand to her mouth to try and contain what was in her lungs and made a break for the surface again. Gasping for breath as she broke out of the water once more, she treed water as she took several deep breaths and coughed away water.

Once she had made her way back to the shore, she pulled herself out of the water, just standing there half naked and soaked to the bone. finding a nearby bush, she sat down on the grass behind it and curled into a ball, shivering.

Emily just sat there shivering next ot the lake. While she'd positioned herself to have cover from the path she'd followed here, she was still pretty visible from the water. She cast a forlorn glance at her dress that now laid on the grass in a small bundle. I she put it on it would be ruined, but she was so cold...

her eyes were drawn back to the water as a fin protruded from it's surface. Emily gave a little shivery wave to the shark girl as she peeked out of the depths. No sooner had Emily done this action before she realized she was soaking wet and in nothing but her underwear. Her face almost glowed red in the darkness as she abruptly tried to become the tiniest thing and hide behind her legs.
