Arriving breathlessly, she knew she was probably late, having got lost on her way there, something which was actually par for the course. She often ended up getting lost when she had to navigate her way to somewhere new.

Glancing about her, the young blue-eyed woman, who had dyed her hair back to it's original blondish red, was dressed quite sexily in a dark aubergine designer dress with a mask in a lighter shade of purple. She looked around the ballroom, interested to see if she recognised anybody there.

Her costume wasn't that elaborate, and it easily got drowned by the extravaganza of the ballroom. Her white dress was very simple and was obviously one of the cheapest you could find, and her feather mask was in the same manner very simplistic. But the girl made the dress look elegant, so perfectly it hugged her curves and flowed around her legs, and the mask was the perfect frame for her sunny hair. The outfit in all it's whiteness was somehow noticeable, as the girl unsurely stepped into the ballroom, toying with a single silver ring she had on her left pinky. Only burst of colour on her outfit was her hair and lips, that she had coloured pink. But her unsureness dissipated as she looked at the space she had just arrived at, her eyes were full of awe and her mouth opened a bit in wonder. Like in a trance the girl stepped into the ballroom, looking around her at everything she could.

The young man looked around the room, his eyes scanned for someone he could initiate a conversation with. He eventually spotted the woman in white.

He saw that she was alone, so he decided he would have a chat. He walked over, and gave what could be described as an award winning smile. “Hi, I couldn’t help but notice you were alone?” He had a friendly tone of voice, and his eyes seemed to reflect that.

The white girl had only made a little way into the room, when someone already approached her. She turned to face the dazzling smile the gentleman with golden eyes directed at her, and the girl answered it with her own, if not a bit shy but sunny smile. She was feeling good, this place was wonderful, and she was feeling braver than usual. The white girl also sent a small wave at the man, her silver ring glinting in the light.
"Hi. Yes, I'm alone, although I suppose not anymore since you talked to me."
The girl chuckled a bit, and held her hands together in front of her, still smiling sweetly.

The night was still young, he liked the vaguenes, the mystery, it made the evening more interesting and fun. He'd chuckle along with her, helping himself to some punch, he'd decided against having any alcohol tonight, he wanted to properly enjoy the ball.

"No you're quite right," he'd say with a smile, "things are often precious because they don't last, it means you have to enjoy the moment." This ball would end along with its mysteries, so enjoying the here and now seemed like a good idea.

He'd take a sip of his punch, "I hadn't known what to expect coming to this event, but it's all been a pleasant surprise." His eyes would wander a bit before returning to her, "what's it like? Being connected to an element? My abilities are not connected to any element, they're not even magic."

Huilu smiled, she was glad Dark understood her point of view, so often Huilu enjoyed art as well because it was fleeting, like fireworks or flower displays and such. You had to take them in and appreciate them while they lasted, and the memory of them was such sweet sorrow. Although Huilu often experienced art much more powerfully than others.

Huilu sipped her punch as well, and listened to Dark speak and the music play and people chatter. It wasn't exactly overwhelming, but Huilu knew she'd have to take a break at some point. Coming from a relatively small community into a densely populated island sometimes took its toll.
Huilu turned her gaze to Dark when he asked her a question, a rather surprising question, but Huilu gladly answered.
"Connected to an element, that's a beautiful way to put it. Let's see..."
Huilu tapped her punch glass against her lips, thinking of the right words.
"I suppose...when I use or make ice, it feels like it's a part of my body. The cold like blood in my veins, the winter my breath. Which can be quite literal, with my cold aura."
Huilu smiled a little, even now the air around her was slightly colder than the surroundings.
"And the ice is part of my body. After all, I have these."
Huilu lifted her hands, her pinkies and few other fingers from both hands were made out of ice, and Huilu wiggled them a bit like they were real fingers.

"What?" Jackal said, looking mock-outraged. "Can't you tell what I am? Thought it was as plain as the tail on my ass."

He kind of liked her. Really, he liked most people who were willing to talk to him like he dind't mean much, which was a very short list. Malara. Thanni. The Drakenhardts. Maybe he just liked arrogance, that kind of confidence.

"Demon's a close enough approximation," Jackal finally said.

The young man chuckled as he put his left hand into his pocket. He had a more casual look, not standing too rigid, in an attempt to be more relaxed with the white girl. He could see that she was a bit shy, so he wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. He understood that these events could be pretty nerve wracking.

He smiled as he put his right hand out for a handshake, his other still in a pocket to give that casual look. “Guess neither of us are alone now. Seeing how this is a masquerade, it would be more fun for me to keep my name hidden for the time being.” He laughed a bit. “Feel free to call me by anything, for now. But is there anything I can call you?” He tilted his head a little after he asked his question.

The white girl looked at the hand the man offered for a moment, not understanding the meaning of said gesture. But eventually, after almost an awkwardly long time but not quite, she remembered the thing called handshake and laughed a bit at herself. She took the man's hand with both of hers and shook it a bit, smiling warmly.
"Oh, this is so exciting, I don't know anyone here. And no one knows me. It's wonderful."
The white girl giggled just a bit, and shook the man's hand maybe a tad too long before letting go.
"I could call you, um, Kind. Because that is what you are."
She'd smile a bit more widely, and then get a pondering expression when thinking about what Kind could call her.
"I could be...Heather. Yes, please call me Heather."

The man turned, sipping his drink as Remi approached. Travis' girl, if he remembered correctly. There was no mistaking her, really. He smirked and put down his glass. "Do I now? I'm not used to people saying such things. They're usually waiting for me to put a knife in their back."

Offering his hand to Remi, he bowed ever so slightly. "A dance sounds lovely however. You may call me Mr. Lamora."
