This night had a special kind of veil draped on top of it, and it had a mysterious air about it, and Huilu was enjoying it. As she was enjoying the dance with hee companion, who to Huilu's opinion was quite charming as well.
"This is my very first time in such an event, and I am fortunate to have an experienced companion such as you. I do love this ball already, although the night is young."

Huilu hummed a bit in thought at the man's question, and she smiled a little.
"I suppose adventure brought me here, to the ball and the island alike. Meeting new people and experiencing new things is a hobby, if not a weakness of mine."
Huilu chuckled, and similarly tilted her head a bit at Dark.
"What about you? What made you attend a ball after sometime?"

"Ah, you'll find this island often has such charming events, especially during the holidays," the thought of going to some of these with such a pleasant woman was nice, he'd need to see how the night progressed, "the island as a whole is full of surprises."

He'd chuckle, "similar reasons, wanted to meet new people, see where the night takes me. Always an adventure to be had, and the unexpected ones are often the best ones." He'd continue to say along with her, a calm smile on his face, memories of other things being far away.

"Have you found adventure since your arrival?" he'd ask.

"I have noted the island indeed is full of surprises. Thankfully I quite enjoy surprises."
Huilu said with a small smile, this ball had been full of surprises already and this man was one of them. If Huilu let go of herself too much the atmosphere might get to her head.

Another fellow adventurer, Huilu was always happy to meet one. Huilu wasn't exactly proud of her slight impulsiveness, and her father had tried to snip it off of her, but it always allowed her to have nice encounters.
"Adventure is as unexpected as you let it be, if you just allow it to carry you. If you'll allow me to be poetic."
Huilu chuckled, being poetic and whimsical was just a part of her.

"I don't think it has ended yet, and this is a wonderful addition to it."
Huilu answered, small mysterious smile on her face.

"Quite right," he'd say with chuckle, "follow the flow of things and you'll find all kinds of surprises." He wasn't necessarily an impulsive man, he was somewhat a thinker, but he did love experiencing the good surprises that life could present.

He'd return that mysterious smile with one of his own, "no it hasn't, I hope for it to go on for sometime. Who knows, maybe we'll learn something," maybe he'd eventually take his mask off, tell her his name, but for now they'd dance and chat.

"You spoke poetic words, made the bracelet with just a thought," he'd hum in thought, "are you an artist perhaps?"

"I find learning as fun as adventuring, the two do often walk hand in hand."
Huilu kept smiling all the while, she was normally a rather brave person but the mask on her face felt like a shield, and she didn't feel like she was the leader of her clan anymore, like she had responsibilities and duties. She just felt like another woman, dancing the night away. It was nice and freeing, like a weight off her shoulders temporarily.

"I'm many things, and artist is among them, yes. How observant of you. As for you..."
Huilu chuckled, and slid to a stop when there was a pause in the song, during which she observed her companion with her intelligent different pair eyes.
"I think I will keep my theories to myself. Mystery is part of the adventure, after all."

There was no hiding it. No way, no how. How the hell was anyone going to hide an eight foot long tail? Maybe if he wore some ridiculously massive hoop skirt. Only then he had the blue hair. And the sharp teeth.

Really, there was no point, so he hadn't bothered. He'd dressed up real nice, and he'd technically worn a mask, but around the time he went to grab a bite to eat from the table he'd lost it... somewhere. There was definitely a very nice red mask lying around, but he couldn't find it for the life of him.

Whatever.

He'd yet to spot anyone he really recognized, outside of Ava (the hair kind of gave it away), so he'd drifted off to the side of the room, scanning it for anyone he knew.

An elderly woman grumbled to herself in one of the corners of the room, shaking her cane at those who stumbled into her carelessly. The things that kids did those days. No respect for the elders. It reminded her of home, honestly.

She hadn't bothered much with dressing up. Her long black dress was plain and practical, full of patches and sewn on pockets to hold a multitude of tiny candies, coins, and trinkets. Her hat was a stereotypical witch's hat, chosen for the irony. The cane was something new, something she had taken just for the event, reasoning that a walker would have been hard to maneuver in such closed quarters. It was decorated as a broom.

As somebody's tail swept into her, she poked it aside with her cane. "Hey, watch it there, mister!"

Swallowtail arrived at the ball excitedly in their frilly, white ouji outfit with a white hat and a simple, white glittery mask with a butterfly attached to the side of it. Only for all of their excitement to slide off their face at the sight of the crowd Tall legs surrounded them, and when Swallowtail looked up, they saw countless masked faces. It wasn't that they didn't expect this, but now that they were within the swarm, all bravery they had before disappeared. Swallowtail stuck closely to their adoptive mother. Not yet holding onto her dress, but so close to her leg she may as well be an extension of it.

An average-height human woman entered the setting with a near-dramatic flare. On her was a white shirt, an open black tuxedo jacket with a long coat black, a black skirt, black fishnet leggings, and black shoes. Adding a nice layer of style to the jacket, skirt, and shoes was pink glitter that shone noticeably against the black background, but was not obnoxious to look at. Lastly, she wears a black deer mask with long antlers that match the colors and glitter of most of the rest of her clothing.

Mrs. Winter Dancer hung around with her boyfriend Kaiju for a bit, clearly the more excited of the two. She was practically skipping as she moved through the crowd, and she was fully indulging herself in the fantasy. From encouraging Kaiju to use his alter ago whenever he introduced himself as Travis to showing off dance moves fit for the Winter Dancer.

After establishing themself in the party, she and Tr—Kaiju split off to interact with other attendees. Here, for some reason, Mrs. Winter Dancer felt it was way easier to interact with everyone around her. She could start up a conversation easily, even though it was quite obvious who she was beneath the mask.

Lady Heavenly glided slowly through the crowd wearing an elegant silver ball gown
reminiscent of an era long gone with a white and gold mask covered in tiny cut crystals,
her gaze falling every so often on Swallowtail, who was following beside her as they made their entrance into the ballroom. As they moved, Heavenly politely nodded and greeted people that she knew or suspected knowing. Almost everyone wore masks, however, some partygoers were completely recognizable while others were not.

Glancing down at Swallowtail, dressed so very smartly in their white frilly prince outfit, the perfect complement actually to her own regal looking costume, Lady Heavenly smiled warmly and quietly said. "You are the fairest of them all here, don't hide Swallowtail, show the world how marvelous and beautiful my little butterfly can be."

Someone had poked him. Someone had poked him in the tail, and that meant he... didn't even notice. He didn't have much sensation back there, and it wasn't until she actually said something that he registered something was going on. He glanced over his shoulder, squinting at the older lady.

"Eh?" He said. "Oh, sorry. Don't really pay much attention to it, since most people tend to avoid it naturally."

Mostly because it was fucking dangerous. Who wanted to get anywhere near his dangerous as fuck tail?

He wiggled his tail, just for emphasis.
