Finishing the food in his mouth, he replied: "It would seem we do." After only recently coming to the island, he wasn't looking for any romantic encounters yet, want to settle in the place and come to terms with the madness around him, but he was just being playful.

"Oh, so you're some sort of criminal mastermind," he joked, not even considering it as a possibility. "I'm not against the idea of having something a bit stronger than this stuff," he gestured to the punch. "but It would be a shame if we missed something exciting here," he said, looking around at the crowd slowly swaying. "That's because I'm actually an undercover spy and I'm going to have to kill you now, since you know my secret." Obviously he wasn't being serious but it was just his failing sense of humour.

Wrapping her arms around the back of his neck, she smiled back at him, swaying in time with the music. "I've been really looking forward to this too. I might have a few things in mind to make the holidays special as well," she gave a small giggle and rested her head on his shoulder, still dancing.

Amelia loved spending time with Orion. There was something about just being close to him that was different from the other guys she had dated. He was at the same time innocent yet wordly, young and wise (maybe except when he would wander off into the forbidden forest). Being in his arms felt like the safest place she could be.

Listening to him, she lifted her head again to him. "I need to take you ice skating. It's like what all those couples do in the movies." She presumed that it was something he had never done and it was a must do christmas thing to do at least once. The mention of presents didn't surprise her, Orion treated her from time to time (which she was against more often than not) but she hadn't really started her christmas shopping yet; there was two months left after all. There was one or two things she kept hidden for him but not enough to actually call a present, in her eyes.

She had to be careful now, her excitement was getting the better of her. If she slipped up and revealed herself too soon the game would end and so too would the fun. Still his touch was intoxicating, and she questioned if he knew it was her.

"You tease." She purred. "We will play till someone is declared the winner then." As she spoke eh used her free hand to hike up her dress a little more, holding the fabric in her hand, exposing more of her leg and her garter.

"We are both creatures from class. I could tell when I saw you. Your uniform, the way you carry yourself. You have an air about you. One that says, upper class. You could have any girl, yet you would be prepared to duel a stranger for me?"

She spun on the spot, leaning into him now, and lifting her leg seductively against his. "You rogue.I dare say you have me interested."

Shujinko Takeda
"I certainly hope so," was all he said to Eek as the child seemed to shrink away from his offer to go get food from the ball. What a strange child, but perhaps they weren't a child at all? On this island, it was hard to tell.

With a firm nod, Shujinko led the woman to one of the side entrances along the building that contained the ballroom. This was a service entrance, one he had utilized to slip in and out of the party without causing a scene as he did the patrols his client had requested.

"I will only be a minute, please remain here and I will bring you out some food."

Letting go of her hand, Shujinko replaced the mask upon his face. He didn't want to accidentally get mobbed going back into the party. Halfway through the door however, he remembered. He didn't want to accidentally put her in the hospital.
"Ah, do you have any preferences or allergies I should know about?"

Penelope Pernicious

With a wicked grin, she leaned up and whispered back to her dance partner. "Well that depends, Mister Lich, on what your intentions with me are." She broke free of his grasp and moved away, humming along with his singing and swaying hypnotically to the music.

"You play coy so well, but I'm an up front kind of girl. I don't think I can give you anything unless you tell me exactly what it is you want."

Spinning lightly on her feet, she practically fell back into Charlie's arms, burying her face into his chest and smearing her lipstick against her veil in the process.

"Oh. Right. I haven't been here for a few years. I'd forgotten this was yearly." She made a quick little frown, wondering if she should just make a plan to be traveling for the next one. After all, if her brother would rope her into attending after just returning, she was almost certain he'd want her to go again. She wasn't exactly being forced, but he was practically the head of the family or at least in line for it and it was a good idea to have a presence. Plus she didn't feel like fighting him. She just regretted wearing a dress. She couldn't even transform here. Other than her scent she could've been any lady. It's not like there were a lot of people who knew who she was.

"Unfortunately no. My family is fairly important. I was expected to attend things like this when I was younger, but I could get away with hiding under the tables for a while." She laughed at that, suddenly wondering if any of the people she'd been friends with then were still around. "But - it's been a while. I've been traveling for - a few years." Probably around 100 or so, but she hadn't been keeping track, and by dragon standards that wasn't much time.

"So what brings you here if you don't like dressing up either - Free food? Conversation? Dancing? I'm here for family obligations - I'd much rather be watching a game right now. I guess the food isn't bad - putting things on toothpicks always seems to make them taste better, right?"

"I come from excellent stock. And you look like you do as well," he said with a lighthearted laugh as their dance brought them closer by the minute. He ran a leg up her exposed thigh, tracing a finger along the silk garter tied there before allowing her to spin to face him once again. She was intoxicating, the way she moved and spoke. He had no doubt in his mind as to who she was now, but to admit it would be to admit defeat.

He placed a hand on the small of her back as she leaned into him, pressing her closer with a grip that was somehow paradoxically gentle and commanding at the same time. His other hand moved up and carefully brushed a strand of hair from her mask to give him a better look at her eyes.

He leaned down, brushing his lips dangerously close to her own but not daring to actually let them touch. His voice never broke above a sultry whisper, and she would be able to fully smell the hints of champagne on his breath.

"I would duel a thousand strangers to keep you to myself."

They continued to dance, keeping perfect timing to the tune of the music and to the etherial tones of Charlie's voice, as he continued to sing:

"Tis those returning, those long lost,
Violins and northwinds blow,
Bringing that eldritch music thro,
They dance in a most enticing way,
Those dead who do appear to say,
While they dance the macabre:"

She was against his chest. He could feel Penelope's breath, her racing heart, and the strange hollowness of his own. He hoped she could not feel the coldness he suddenly felt in his bones.

"Honestly," he smiled down at her, the one of the white eyes of her veil tinged with a slight red mark, almost like a scarlet teardrop "You're fun, and I enjoy your company. Also i can be myself around you. Theres no illusions with you. You know a few of my dirty little secrets" He winked at her as he said this.

But there was something else.

Charlie looked at humans with care and kindness, but also a sadness that came with outlasting almost everyone you had ever known. And here was a creature, Miss Penelope Pernicious, a walking nightmare. A creature who time could not touch. And he wondered about the possibilities of that as he continued to dance, and sing:

""We return for this night alone,
For hallow's eve is but tonight
The night for the dead to dance
While the living flee from the light,
We can remember the lives we lost ,
The lives that are long out of sight""

White rose mask and wig.

He couldn't help the brief thoughts of jealously that flaired up when the women mentioned that she been traveling for years. There was a limit to what one might learn of the world of books ,and to have the freedom to go out their and see thing for yourself sounded pretty good. Though he knew that he didn't have the luxuary of that. However the mention of returning to family responiblities being her reason for being here tonight ended up quashing those thoughts. He had turned his back on those himself and might have found that just as envible as seeing the world.

Her question though was a good one, why had he come to the event and even put in the effort for a decent matching outfit. "I suppose I just wanted to see what it was all about." He awnsered sounding a little unsure of himself. "There is always something new I never though possible around the corner on this island. This party I suppose is something new but at least like I guess it doesn't feel foreign." He explained and then sighed at himself. "Foreign isn't quite the right word, but it's the best I can come up with for now." He added not wanting to possibly offend her or anyone that over heard.

"You know I'm normally a bit better with words then this." He said scratching his head through the wig. "Maybe by introducing myself but that somewhat dilutes the point of a masquerade." He added with a small chuckle.

Diane smirked lightly when he called her a criminal mastermind, "Well, if that's what you're into then sure, Criminal Mastermind at your service, or more or less I run drugs and weapons to little kiddies," She said finishing with a smile and a small laugh to compliment it. She looked around with him before she reluctantly sighed and smiled once again, "Well, to be honest, I don't have this at my club unless you're counting the Slow Jazz nights I have" She said smiling before he made a joke, placing a hand over her mouth as she gasped.

"Oh my, how could I have been fooled," She said giving an exclaimed gesture as she put a hand to her face in mock astonishment, "Well, If I am to do it is fine at the hands of you," She said quickly before the gesture disappeared replaced with a smile and a quick laugh coming from her as she put her hand out, "So, are we going to dance? Or just stand around and eat food?" She said quickly a smile still playing on her face.

Charlene swallowed as Shujinko led her around the side of the building. She felt relatively okay with him, but her eyes were still darting around nervously. What if a Fae saw her and beat her for being so dirty near such a high-end party? What if this man sneaking food to her got them both in trouble, and they were both beaten?

Once he let go of her hand, Charlene nodded with hesitation and sat on the ground to wait for him. Then she blinked and tilted her head. Preferences? Allergies? Why would he ask these things?

“No, sir,” she replied. Then, with hesitation, she added: “Is this really okay, sir?”

“Fun? I mostly bake when I’m in a bad mood and want to distract myself,”

Gareth grinned sheepishly under his mask, wondering if he revealed a little too much of himself in that. But, maybe he could turn it around a little?

“Believe me, I’m having more fun spending time with you.”

Yeah, that was good, right? Now it was a compliment to her rather than about him.

Gareth found his gaze going toward the dance floor again. He’d…really like to dance with her, so she could have the full experience of the ball. He couldn’t possibly stay up on his feet long enough to dance without some sort of support, but if he did have that…if he was really careful, he might manage a slow dance.

Gareth peered around the room. When he found a possible solution, he turned to Fatima.

“Hey, I’ll be right back. Just wait here a sec,” he said before rolling off for a moment—briefly disappearing into the crowd. He had noticed an older gentleman sitting at one of the tables with a cane in his hand. When he explained the situation, the man was kind enough to let him borrow his cane.

Man, he’d wished he’d thought this through early—but he was gonna make it work. The night seemed to be in his favor too because as he was rolling back, a slower song began to play. Yeah, he could make this work.

When he returned to Fatima, he used the cane to pull himself out of his chair and held his hand out to her.

“Shall I ‘ave this dance?” he asked, a big grin hiding under his mask. He wasn’t entirely sure if he was being cute or cheesy, but it was okay. As long as he could give Fatima the full 'classy ball' experience, he didn't care if he was a little cheesy.
