While the ball had already been in full swing, for him the night was just beginning. He had decided to go at this night with everything he had. However getting ready had taken a lot longer then he had expected. While the suit was pretty simply to get on and look right, the wig had taken quite some time. He never worn one before, and tying his own hair up so that it would fit under the wig comfortably had been annoying. The constant unbroken white of the costume, was almost like a statue in appearance or at least one of those street performer pretending to be one.

Walking into the ball, it was clear that he was slightly uncomfortable. The whole outfit not being something he was used to. So much so that he avoided the majority of people. The masks made it it so he was anonymous but it also meant he didn't really recognise anyone around the place. Avoiding the dance floor, he instead made a bee-line to get himself a drink. Using the glass almost like a barrier between him and the rest of the ball, as he looked around and watched the dance floor.

It wasn't that he was shy, person. If he had been dress normally he would have been pretty confident in himself. However he couldn't help but notice when he had seen himself in the mirror before leaving, that the design of the wig and cut of the suit. Sorted highlighted youthful and effeminate features and made him look more like a women in a suit, then a man wearing a female wig. He didn't have a problem with the implication of it but it hadn't been his intent. He just wanted to be dressed head to toe in a single colour and this had been the only white wig he could find.

Shujinko Takeda

Shujinjko stared down at Charlene, confused by her sudden outburst. Tensing slightly, he reached down and took her hand gently in his own. "No one is going to punish you. But if you are that worried, I can take you around the side at least and bring some food out to you."

He took a moment to look at Eek again. "Both of you."

Penelope Pernicious
Penelope laughed and let Charlie take the lead in the dance. He certainly was a charming one, if a little stiff sometimes. "You planned this out? How droll, Mr. Lich. But it'll take more than your fancy drinks and macabre music to win my heart. If I even have one."

With a spin she pulled away from Charlie and pulled back to him suddenly, pressing herself against his chest. Her heart was fluttering, or maybe it was Serenity's. At this point she barely cared.

Holding his dance partner close, he led their waltz slowly, intimately. This was a beautiful moment, and the game they were both playing made the whole thing all the sweeter.

"Well I hope I'm not too forward in saying so, but I certainly hope that your date doesn't show up. I don't think I've ever had a better dance partner."

Dipping her as the current song ended, the man in the silver mask flashed his barefoot dance partner a winning smile and spun her around as he brought her up. The next song was livelier, less intimate but more fun.

"Control? Well my kind are known for being possessive. I like to make sure I have a degree of power in any situation, my dear. What's the point of a game if you aren't playing to win, after all?"

Charlie continued to sing, in beautiful tones, as he danced with Penelope:

"Here, Who is that walking from the graves?
Here they walk, from the light,
Death comes for all, but none tonight,
Tonight the night where none must pay,
All must leave but some must stay,
All who dance the macabre"

"What should i do?" Asked Charlie, during a break in the words, holding her close while they danced "break a rib?" He smiled and laughed, dancing a waltz to the music. And he continued to sing, dancing perfectly to the beat of the music, and in a moment where he held her close to his chest again, said "or kiss you again?" He picked up the next verse, and continued:

"Dressed in rot and mould and rags
Through the trees the dead do pass,
In a dead and dying mass,
With white bone and skin full o' decay,
They dance in a most alluring way,
Did those who danced the macabre
"

She giggled as she became enthralled in the moment. It seemed her dance lessons had paid off, at least for now, though a waltz was hardly a difficult dance. Still, she made sure to give it her all, moving her hips with each step, keeping her contacts true, and allowing him to guide her skillfully around the dance floor.

As the song ended, she found herself dipped. Instinctively she raised her leg, the fabric of her dress falling back as her knee crept up along his side exposing her garter and upper thigh. It was like something out of one of those trashy romance novels that would never admit that she read.

Without missing a beat a new song started, this one with a faster pace. She straightened up and took a step back, freeing herself from his grip, with a flourish and a spin that required her to hold the front edge of her dress down.

"I quite agree. Whats the point of playing if not to win. Though I must ask, who is winning now?"

Her voice was a sultry purr as she spun towards him, this time allowing her dress to flourish up dramatically. Her spin brought her to a stop in front of him, and she turned so that her back was facing him, before taking a step back so that they were touching again.

"Could you imagine the scandal that would erupt, if my partner arrived to see me intimately embracing another like this? I dare say I could not talk my way out of this one."

As she spoke her arm traced up her form and back over her shoulder to pull him closer. Her hand resting on the back of his head so as not to let him escape. It seemed she too enjoyed a trace of control.

Eek considered the man's offer, but he didn't need anyone to get him food. He'd had a good time catching bugs so far. And being nocturnal it was still early for him. The strange girl who hadn't given her name yet seemed safe enough now, and the baby-fae didn't really want to interact with more people. He was pretty sure the Shujinko man wasn't lying and wouldn't hurt her.

Backing up a bit, the little fae shook his head. "I not go eat bugs in trees." He didn't exactly think the man would grab him. He didn't know what to think. He was used to wandering around the school at night, although he wasn't used to there being some sort of group of people thing going on at the same time.

"She going to be okay?" He would've just climbed back into the trees, but he didn't like to see people hurt. Even if it was a complete stranger.

He had to admit, he was glad he had decided to come to the ball this year. He felt a grin creep across his lips as she spun into him, pressing her back against him. He wrapped his arms around her briefly, tracing his fingers up and down her stomach before resting them on her hips.

"Who is winning? Well, I'd say we haven't played enough to determine that."
The tempo of the music made their dance more sensual but no less intimate, he expertly moved the two of them from the main crowd so as to not let anyone bother them.

As they continued their dance he brought his lips close to her ear, letting his breath tickle against the nape of her neck as he whispered, "You know, I don't think I want to let you go now. If your date shows up, I might have to fight him."

Sucking on a red cinnamon candy and still looking vaguely uncomfortable with her dress, the woman watched the people dancing. She hadn't been on the island long enough to get a date, and she hadn't felt like getting a blind one. Not that she had planned to come to the masquerade at all. Dancing wasn't really her thing. Especially not in a dress being all fancy. Besides, there was enough of that at home.

Still, she was already in a dress. And just standing here eating candy was more boring than doing something. So she scanned the crowd looking for someone else who looked maybe a little out of place. She could dance if she had to, or maybe she'd find an interesting conversation.

Someone in white caught the redhead's eye. At first glance, she wasn't sure it was a woman or a man she was looking at, but they seemed to be alone. She grabbed some apple cider for herself and wandered over to the masked stranger, once more smoothing her skirt out unnecessarily.

"Evening, stranger. Is this your first time at a ball? It can be annoying having to dress up for these things."

White Rose Mask and Wig.
@Redhead, gold leaf mask.

He looked up from his drink and scanning of the crowd, when a voice greeted him and asked if it was his first time at this ball. He smiled awkwardly. "I didn't even know this was a yearly thing. So yes it is." He told her. He hadn't really looked into the infomation about the ball beyond the fact of when, and where it was and what was expect to be worn. "I'm not really one to dress up myself normally, so you won't find me disagreeing with you." He explained taking a sip of his drink.

"Is it your first time aswell then?" He asked her, thinking that it wouldn't be because her comment made it sound like she had dressed up for things like this before. He couldn't help but wonder how many people here tonight he actually knew but wouldn't know because of the outfits. Even if someone felt like he knew them, he wasn't going to just guess they were. He wasn't really expecting anyone to be able to pick him out either.

He was tempted to ask if she wanted to dance, but he wasn't really the best dancer in the world. At least in the more traditional setting of the ball.

Charlene blinked, staring at her hand in Shujinko’s. Then she stared at Eek as he backed away a little, still seemingly concerned for her. It made sense though, in Charlene’s own way of understanding: Fae would be concerned for her, because she would not be as useful as a slave if she were injured.

Then she stared back at Shujinko, using his hand to help herself back up on her shaky legs. She did not want to be an inconvenience, or be beaten for being an inconvenience, but...she was also very, desperately hungry. And she just had a feeling...this man was not interested in hurting her.

“Yes, sir…” she said, quietly.
