Open Mage's Association: Opening Session

Normally, Tilly might not have taken great stock in the names of the other occupants in the room. She wasn’t usually the type to remember names and stay engaged in a room full of strangers, but this was no ordinary room full of strangers. Each and every person in this room possessed at least a modicum of magical talent, not just power, but talent. Regardless of the way one practiced, not just anybody could pick up a spellbook and sling a fireball. The people in this room were those who were gifted in the arcane arts, and that meant that Tilly was quite a bit more personable than usual.

Setting her pointed hat up out of her eyes, she leaned forward and smiled as Lottie approached. ”Oh, yeah, go for it. The punch is made w-” She began, explaining the complex and impressive magical process that went into flavoring the potions, oblivious to Lottie’s new distraction. She finally stopped as Ganymede approached, grinning and nodding back to him. ”Tilly!” She replied up, positively bubbly.

Once the first wave had made their rounds at the table, she magiced herself up a levitating plate and grabbed herself a few snacks and a cup of punch, sitting contentedly and glancing at Sazz, a bit unsure of herself and what she was supposed to be doing. She was too proud to ask for direction, but wouldn’t say no to a nudge.

Ganymede nodded to Sazz's answer. That seemed reasonable, and it gave him an opportunity to show off in front of the other members.

Sazz formally introduced himself to the club and asked everyone what their areas of interest were. Ganymede, being close to Sazz at the time, volunteered to go first.

"As I said earlier, I'm Ganymede." It couldn't hurt to introduce himself for people who only came in recently. "I'm interested in a little bit of every kind of spellcraft, though lately I've been focusing on scrying spells and fire magic."

"Questions are good," Meena answered Lottie, "There is no thing as too many or too few questions when one seeks understanding of the magical arts." There were many eager students and that was good. She nodded thoughtfully at Ganymede's offer but Sazz impressed her with his response. "I am in agreement."

Meena watched thoughtfully as the students came forward with their introductions, and she took careful note of what each hoped to learn or what they wished to improve on. Though her magic was quite focused, that didn't mean she was a slouch in other magic forms. After all the other students spoke Meena took her turn.

"I am Filomena Del Bosque, your club advisor. I have studied magic for almost a hundred years and- and I am here to answer any questions you may have and provide a safe space to practice your arts. Feel free to come see me at any time, within or outside of club time."

Jae smiled when he saw Katie enter, and waved to her. It was really nice to see a friendly face that he knew. It was one less awkward introduction to make. For the moment Jae was content with snacking on the provided food and listening to the conversation around him. He listened as Sazz introduced himself and began the rounds of introductions.

After Ganymede Jae spoke up. "Hello, I'm Jae Yi-Lin. Um, I hope to gain a better understanding of my magic and perhaps learn more about what I can do with it." He took a deep breath and seemed calmer when he spoke next. "My magic seems to be based on song and aquatic in nature." He flashed one last smile and stepped back for the next person to make their intro.

Katie

Katie could only watch from the snacks as more people piled in. The mages association was really popular it seemed. She hoped she'd be able to keep up with everyone, even if Katie had almost no actual magic knowledge to speak of.

Eventually Sazz decided it was time for introductions, and after Jae, it was Katie's turn. "Ok, um. I think I've met everyone else before." Katie said, casting a quick look around the room. "But in case I haven't.. Hi there! I'm Katie. I'm really hoping to learn more about how magic works, especially healing magic. And maybe even learn a few new types of magic while I'm at it! Katie said with a smile, before waiting for the next person to speak.

Ezra waited for people to do their introductions before rising to their feet to address the group. They brushed their hands along their long coat before giving a small bow.

"Greetings." They stated, their tone very neutral and lacking any sort of emotional lilt. "My name is Ezra Taliesin Vrall and I am here to further my education in the study of magic. I aim to understand the ability of magical animation as well as any sort of information I can gather on magic in general. I look forward in working with you all." They bowed again before taking their seat. Salem, the black plush cat they had brought with them, remained in their arms and held tight.
