Hi guys! If you’d like to contact me about plotting, on-site PM is currently the best way. I only let myself use discord on weekends or I find I become much less productive, but I’m pretty on top of replying to notifications here. Anyways, here’s Tilly!

Application
16 | Female | Human | Student | INFJ | Choleric-Phlegmatic | Homosexual | Wizard | Single
Matilda is your classical, reclusive, spell-slotting, paper-and-ink-buying, fireball-casting wizard. Don’t you dare call her a witch, a warlock, or a sorcerer, or she might take offense. She’s determined and stubborn, and while she may be a people-pleaser, her friendliness comes second to her studies. Friends have described her as a different person entirely when pursuing a goal, becoming single-minded and aloof. Still, when she isn’t locked away in her room studying, she’s friendly and amiable, and a friend in need can pull her away from even her life’s work.

A Muggle Roommate
I think it’d be really fun to have someone who isn’t a spellcaster live with Tilly, having a unique insight on how she works and likely growing increasingly irritated with her in the beginning, as she spends most of her free time locked in the room, reading or experimenting, not to mention the fact that she shorts out most nearby technology when she does this. The roommate situation could be a temporary thing that leads to her being assigned her own room, or it could be permanent and lead to a long-term friendship. The roommate need not be completely non-magical, but preferably someone who doesn’t cast spells or use rituals, but rather has natural powers of their own.
A Rival
Tilly’s power comes from blood, sweat, and many bottles of excedrin. The majority of her time is just spent re-memorizing spells she already knows, and every act of spellcraft from her is a labor of love. I’d love for her to have a rival who has magic come to them naturally. This should be someone who casts spells but can do so without much prep, preferably someone with a natural gift, but not necessarily someone who didn’t earn their powers, though they might be perceived as that by Tilly. This could be a friendly rivalry, bitter frenemies, or a hated nemesis.
A Muggle Bestie
Can overlap with the roommate thing. Someone who doesn’t cast spells, maybe even someone with a power set completely alien to her own, with an entirely different way of looking at the world, or someone with no powers at all. This will be Tilly’s confidante, someone to bounce ideas off of and someone to show her things he might not have otherwise noticed.
A Psychic Buddy
Can overlap with the bestie or the roommate. Someone with the ability to see/insert themselves into Tilly’s memory palace would be cool. When she’s stressed and needs a breather, she retreats to her own mind, so it would be cool to have a friend to chase her down into there.
A Magical Mentor
Definitely a lot of these. Tilly wants to learn a lot. I foresee her not going for very long without a new power to train, or an old one to upgrade. I really wanna see her come into her own with a vast arsenal of spells, so learning tricks from as many people as possible would be awesome. She’s a bit of a blank slate right now, so the magic she learns will shape her greatly. Her lust for power would make her easily turned to the dark side if exploited, but at the moment it’s not much more than an obsessive curiosity. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a teacher, this can be basically anyone who has anything to teach her.
Magical Peers
If your character is a spellcaster Tilly probably wants to hang out with you, mostly because she’s less likely to fry your electronics, but also because she might learn a thing or two from you. She’s never been around actual wizards, witches, sorcerers, warlocks, etc; before, and her mentors had very little actual skill in the arcane arts, just a lot of knowledge about them. She’s pretty amiable, so she’d probably hang out with whoever, but particularly spellcasters.
Awkward Romances
I don’t like doing just the one forevership for a character that is always perfect and has no problems ever and they live happily ever after, especially one as young as Tilly. I want her to have a few heartbreaks and a few cutsie little puppy love relationships before I ever ship her off. Really this could be anything, so long as the relationship doesn’t work out. Unrequited love, a hard break up, a mutual breakup on good terms, maybe even a villain or two to take advantage of her.
A DnD Group
Tilly’s favorite thing back home was playing her Halfling Wizard and occasional alter-ego, Moira. She’d love a group of geeky superhumans to play with again, and failing that, she’ll put together a group and GM one herself. (I also think the metaness of roleplayers roleplaying characters that are roleplaying characters is super fun)
A Professor Snape
I just really like the mean teacher trope. Maybe she fries their computer on the first day of class because she forgot her bracelet. I’d also like this teacher to teach her something (Maybe by accident) that actually comes in very useful later, possibly even saving her life.
Some Enemies
Matilda is prone to sticking her nose where it doesn't belong if she smells trouble. She tries to be a hero, and with her (relatively) newfound powers bolstering her confidence, she's likely to get herself into trouble. Really any kind of enemy works, making an enemy of a bully and getting herself beaten up would actually be pretty awesome character development. I would also love to give her some mysteries to solve, maybe a trail of clues left behind by another student who's up to no good.

Matilda is prone to sticking her nose where it doesn't belong if she smells trouble. Dialogue: I mean duh, there usually isn’t a story without dialogue, but I absolutely love clever dialogue. I love witty banter, I love awkward flirting, I love quirky turns of phrases and I love Calvin-and-Hobbes-Style deep conversations while in life-threatening situations.
Action: I started out as a combat roleplayer, and while I was very sick of a narrative that focused entirely on combat, I still love a good fight scene, and the emotion it can bring. I don’t think characters should fight just for the hell of it, and I’m long past my super competitive days. Losing is way more fun to write than winning anyways. But still, I remain a sucker for a well-choreographed fight scene.
Feats: In good taste, I love displays of a character’s power. I prefer them when they come secondary to the action, or better yet, not even noticed until after, like a character narrowly dodging a punch only to realize much later that that punch blew the wall he’d been standing in front of away completely. When it gets gratuitous, I tend to lose interest, but a well-placed feat never fails to make my spine tingle
Involved Plots: I like to feel like I’m a part of a story when I write, otherwise what’s the point? Mysteries, treasure hunts, whodunits, brawls for the fate of the universe, I’m here for all of it.
Slice of Life: Can also paradoxically be a pet peeve if overdone. I like Slice of Life to be peppered into a larger plot, like the way Harry Potter is still just a kid going to classes in the background of all this mystery and intrigue. I love slice of life, but too much of it, especially without much purpose, tends to bore me.
FriendSHIPs: I love playing out a character’s relationships over time. I particularly love doing Fast and the Furious style flashbacks of all the times they stuck together through thick and thin, bc I am sappy and easily made emotional.
Awkward Romance: Self-explanatory.
Horror: Good lord I love scary things. Terrify the shit out of Tilly with your ghouls, ghosts, and cthulhu monsters pls
Body Horror: I’m not too squeamish about body horror, though I wouldn’t say I like writing it. It’s more like I like it when done well. It can really be impactful when done right, but when done tastelessly it tends to make me roll my eyes.

Tasteless NSFW: In general I don’t like writing sex scenes unless they serve a purpose. Most of the time I’d just prefer a fade to black, unless the emotion is running particularly high or the scene is significant.
Topics that Go Nowhere: I like to have a good idea of what a topic is gonna be about before I ever sit down to write it. A touch of fate and seeing what the characters do is always nice, but I like to have a general plan of what is gonna happen, mostly so the topic doesn’t devolve into sweet nothingness.
