Ion watched with interest, resting his chin on his fist in a pose not unlike the thinker. It was a lot to think about. He could just... make objects? Objects and animals? And his body? That was... well, it was very powerful, to say the least. Very, very powerful.

Of course, Ophion immediately jumped to a place that most people wouldn't, curious about the limits of Malvoes's abilities. "That's - well, it's mind bogglingly useful. I can think of an easy dozen things you could do with it, but I suppose I should start... are they edible?" He was already thinking of all the mouths they could feed if someone could literally just summon food from the air. He didn't see anything particularly wrong or bizarre about the idea of someone creating something from nothing, since the rules of physics seemed more like suggestions than natural laws when it came to the Manta Carlos islands and everyone on it.

"You know, that crossed my mind when I was younger, not being able to get sweets and such." Mal would dispel the cards, that would turn into a small cascade of blue rose petals that would slowly start to evaporate.

"The issue is that the items and creatures are linked to me, after a certain distance, and time they just disappear like I dispel them. It's a strange feeling having your stomach go to full to empty in split second." He'd pat his stomach lightly remembering the sensation as it was a very odd moment in his life, enough to deter him from that attempt.

"So, global food initiative is not an option." He'd say with a shrug, he thought of it once too.

Ah well, he'd tried, hadn't he? If they faded after a while, that ruled out mass-production, construction, and tons of other things. He was mentally checking off, bit by bit. There were a lot of things he'd thought of that he then had to rule out, and he let out a small sigh of disappointment. Still useful, but not mind boggling anymore.

"It would still be useful in a lot of ways. Like, if you were a surgeon, you wouldn't have to call for tools - you could just make your own. Things like that. Lots of people say they want to make their own way without using their powers, but no one says they're going to make their way without using their own legs or eyes or anything. Gifts are just a part of who you are." He'd never seen the point of acting like they were some separate, unimportant thing. It just seemed silly and bizarre to him, to deny who you were so thoroughly.

"That's how I feel about them as well." Mal would say, nodding slightly as he looked outward.

"These abilities are part of us, sure they aren't 'normal' but we all have advantages and disadvantages, done just ate more peculiar. So why not make the best of your abilities, literally." He'did crack a grin, materializing 5 paper airplanes, this time they were slower to form. Considering he had the rose at already but he needed practice stretching his abilities. After they formed he'd have them do aerial maneuvers around the table.

That was more or less exactly how he felt about it, and he cracked a grin at Malvoes.

"Honestly, there's a lot you could do with that power. Lots of good things you can do. That said - there's no need to rush into any of them. I'd say something like the park services for a year would be a good idea. Lets you destress after final exams, spend a year deciding what you really care about, and then you can move on from there." Part of him wished he'd done that very thing, only for him there'd been no question about what he was doing next. History had always been his passion, and the only real question was how he was going to get paid for it. It wasn't like people just paid you because you were interested in a subject - you needed to turn it into a marketable skill that people would pay money for.

Probably he'd just end up working at the academy, but he'd considered a number of other professions, such as personal historian. There were more than enough people on the island who had enough money to fund that sort of thing, so why not?

Malvoes would hum slightly, thinking about this. "Yeah, that sounds like the best idea, it gives me time to figure things out, things to do, ease myself from a work environment to a schooling environment."

He'd sigh a bit, it was still a difficult choice, considering he would have to decide on something eventually. And that if he was going to stop going to college, even temporarily, he was going to have to move out of dorm probably.

If only he could just get a degree and a job in whatever he wanted and make money from it. Mal would make the paper airplanes nosedive into the table and explode in poofs of rose petals on impact.

"It's a drag that the world is run by money though, in my head it's an unnecessary evil, to an extent. Because we just can't go out and do whatever we want, job wise and schooling wise, and just do that for our life. Some can though and I envy those people a bit."

Honestly, Ophion was pretty sympathetic to those who didn't know what they wanted to do. He hadn't suffered that fate himself, but he had lots of friends who did. It seemed kind of cruel to him that people had to decide what they wanted to do before they were even twenty.

He watched the airplanes whirl around, before crashing in a shower of petals.

Okay, the petals was odd. Most people didn't have that kind of flourish to their powers, and Ophion caught himself grinning a bit at it. "Worst comes to worst, you pass for totally human, so you could head to the mainland and put on magic shows." A total waste of his talent, of course, but he was kidding.

"Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil. Until we reach the point where we can duplicate stuff, scarcity still exists. Unfortunate but true." Money didn't come from nowhere, after all. The island was better than most places on the mainland, but even they had to have farms and a proper economy.

Mal would give a laugh at Ophion's comment. "Yeah, my uncle, while he was helping me learn my powers taught me about showmanship, said it was a great skill to have, to be able to entertain. But, personally speaking that is, I don't like the idea of using my abilities for monetary gains, like using it as a tool is one thing, but using it straight up for money just feels....degrading to me."

Mal would give Ophion a bit of a skeptical look, producing four identical marbles that would roll around on the table. "Oh yeah, duplication would be a marvelous thing, huh?" The sarcasm was heavy, very heavy but light hearted.

Ophion couldn't help it - he rolled his eyes, letting out a little snort.

"You know what I meant. Stuff like food and houses. Scarcity is still a thing, and temporary fill-ins won't do much. I'm sure someone out there has a power that would solve that kind of issue, but that kind of thing... it always takes some kind of sacrifice. The person, something they love, some kind of item. Powers gotta come from somewhere." Or so that was the theory. Not everyone seemed to follow it, but it was also entirely possible it was happening, and it was just happening behind the scenes in such a way that it wasn't immediately obvious. No one was going to be keeping track of who died early and what kind of powers they had.

"Can't really say I relate on the degrading stuff. My powers aren't exactly the kind anyone's going to pay me for." He said with a shrug of his shoulders.

Mal would collect the marbles in one hand turning them into a single diamond about the size of a golf ball.

"Equivalent exchange then? Karmatic response? I can see it, 7 billion humans on the planet, and, actually I have no idea how many other sentient species there are. But there's only, let's say hundreds, maybe a few thousands on this island. And that's just people who are found out, but it's still so few. But I digress, it could be sheer numbers, one in so many, it could be an event, or a sacrifice, the greater the power the worse the sacrifice, so many different things. As long as there's a balance to it though, the world is happy." Mal's eyes would darken a bit, he knew of sacrifice, the Incident, plus there was the fact that nothing he created was real, just an elaborate fake.

His head would perk up a bit, his face brightening and the diamond reducing to a bit of rose petals. "Oh right, I'm so used to a lack of powers I forget this island is literally populated primarily with people with abilities. Any power is super, come on, I showed you mine, you show me yours." He'd give Ophion a grin, fully aware of the other meaning of that statement. "Unless it's invisible, then I suppose you have to tell me."
