"No," it came out as a sleepy whisper. "I think... I can take care of myself... by tomorrow... I don't want to go..."

Lochlann couldn't lie-he was a little bit relieved, both that she thought she was feeling a little better and that he didn't have to go anywhere near the doctor's for another day.

His eyes were closed and he was a little sleepy himself, so he didn't realize Addy was searching his face for a reaction when she said... "When I get better, remind me... to treat you to anything you want... Anything. Because you're so awesome and I want to do something for you too..."

His face flickered between confusion--why would she want to do something nice? He hadn't done anything besides bring her soup and porn-- and then turned an interesting shade of scarlet

Anything he wanted. Anything..

He wanted to kiss her. A real kiss, not one of the friendly pecks they gave each other to show affection. He wanted shirt-gripping, hair-pulling, gasping for air kissing.

And he felt guilty.

Why the hell would he want that from his best friend?

"Addy," Lochlann said, "Just get better."

"You have to tell me something next time... I'll pester you until you give me something I can work with."

"I'll tell you in the morning," Lochlann said, fighting to keep his eyes open. "I told you I"m not going anywhere. I'll crash on the floor with lamby--ive got a pillow and blanket in my bag. If you need anything through the night, just say so. I'm a pretty light sleeper."

His hands dropped back to his sides and he looked down at her, the faintest trace of a smile on his face.

"I hope you like breakfast because you're getting it in the morning," he threatened. He squirmed out from underneath her and got up, tucking her back under the covers.
