Shellie made herself comfortable, her hands gripping the seat to help her stay balanced and not fall off as the docks seemed to fall away, and her vision became filled with more and more open sea. Well, not quite open, as she could still make out the corners of the city and the long reach of the amusement park on the pier.

Somehow she felt like she was going on a grand adventure.

"Don't be silly darling," she said in a tone that could only be described as cooing. "I'm barely able to stand on this vessel of yours. If I have sea-anything, I have sea anxiety."

Grant smiled as he approached the exit of the harbor. He had been busy with some stuff helping the school out, something about investments and the like. He hadn't gotten to come out and sail lately, especially not with someone as beautiful as Shellie. The old pirate chuckled at her voice, adjusting their course.

"Nothin' ta worry about there lass. Yer in the safest of 'ands 'ere." He looked over and gave her a wink, taking his hat off and setting it behind him. "Th' seas are quiet today, Besmara must be smilin'." He pointed out the bouies that represented the exit and entrance of the harbor.

"Now, when we cross those, we're gonna be speedin' up. Long as yer sittin, ye should' be fine. Just don' stand without holdin onte' somethin." He chuckled, and crossed the path. Nyoom.

The boat was now cutting through water at a much more rapid rate, quickly sailing away from the islands harbor.

Shellie simply hmm-ed at the assertion that she was in the most capable hands imaginable. It wasn't that she didn't believe Grant--his stories of seafaring could hardly be believed and it made her heart ache for the adventures she read about as a child.

"Wait, we're going to be going--" before she could finish her statement, the boat sped up sharply and Shellie felt the wind was pushing her into her seat. Forget holding something to get up, it felt like she wouldn't be able to get up at all, period, end of sentence.

Glancing out of the corner of her eye, the witch could see the pier rapidly retreating. How fast were they going even?

She didn't trust herself to open her mouth and ask and not get a mouthful of flies.

The boat cut through the water quickly, though the bouncing slowed as they got away from the island. Grant spoke with a smile.

"Don' worry lass. Th' sea'll smooth out once we get away from th' islan. Tide comin' in." He chuckled, slowing greatly as he got out into the ocean.

The old pirate looked over the sea, and sighed happily. "Isn't she beautiful?"

Shellie didn't have much to say as they moved away from the island. Not that she could speak easily what with the boat bouncing all over the place and the wind blowing into her face like mad. She considered herself some kind of clairvoyant when she'd opted out of wearing eyeliner despite her better judgement.

It would have been a mess right now if she had.

As they got further out into the ocean, the witch noticed that she ended up in the air less often, and the impacts her bottom made with the chair she'd settled into were less frequent and less violent.

Now that she wasn't being jostled like clothes in a dryer, looking out on the water, it was actually incredibly beautiful. She could hardly believe...

"It's lovely."

Grant found himself looking at Shellie while she spoke, smiling. He blinked as he realized what he was doing, and looked back out over the water.

"Isn't she? Th' sea can be a benevolent angel, or an 'arsh mistress. Treat 'er with respec' an she'll do th' same te you." He spoke, before putting the ship back into gear, moving forward slowly.

The ship wasn't jostling very much anymore, cutting through the water like a blade. The pirate began to sail around the tail end of the island, hooking back to see the forest.

Now that the boat was a little more stable, Shellie reached over to the metal guard rails that kept the lip of the boat from being a harsh edge into the sea and helped herself up, to look straight down into the water.

She was expecting something perfectly clear and almost like undulating crystals, like in her stories and spells, but the water murky and all she could really see were suggestions of fish in various sizes swimming below the surface.

Shellie looked over her shoulder at Grant and gave a small excited squirm as they approached the forest from the sea. "Do you take leisurely.... uh.... sails? Around the island often?"

Grant chuckled as the small witch excitedly got up and looked into the sea. The old pirate made sure to keep the ride as smooth as possible for Shellie.

"I try to get out an' go on my li'l voyages a' least once a week, but th' school 'as been keepin me busy." The captain chuckled. "Jess 'ow I make it down ta yer' shop as often as I can. Good fer th' body, good fer th' soul."

"I should consider making that the motto for The Magic Spoon. Good for your body, good for your soul."

After looking down at the ocean itself, she looked up towards the horizon. It wasn't horribly windy, and she couldn't help but watch the horizon stretch onwards and onwards as if it reached into infinity and endless voids.

Beautiful.

"It's very nice out here."

Grant stared out over the water as they cut across the water. Grant loved sailing, the breeze against his skin, the smell of the saltwater.

It brought him back to happier times.

"It is. Brings m' back." He said, starting to get lost in his thoughts. "Ye been out on the sea before?"
