Finnegan was grinning a bit too much. All the show and tell business was pretty exciting for him! He loved this kind of engaging activity with students, and any chances to get to know them. He was familiar with all the kids in the school's care, due to his work in counseling and scouting, but sometimes personally knowing them past greetings in the halls was tougher. Less so for Finn than some, even with his travel, thanks to how friendly he was, but he jumped at these opportunities nonetheless. He was a people person to the extreme. Forty years of staff work at Starlight Academy and he hadn't tired of it or those in his care once.
For their first meet and greet, Finn had gone with the the edges of the lake, which had gorgeous ice skating this time of year. It was in the afternoon, on a saturday, so it wasn't as cold or grey as it could've been, but it was chilly enough to signify winter was settling in. They weren't completely exposed to the elements, as there was a picnic shelter here to be the designated meeting location and landmark. If they were going to show off today, however, it'd be easy to move away from it and have open space to do so.
To anyone who'd already arrived, Finn clapped his hands together, bright eyed and chipper as ever, wrapped up in a well padded coat, floral scarf, and pom pom hat. "Hello, hello! It's good to see you kids! So, even if you know me already, I'll introduce myself officially, to start us off and give an example. I'm Scout Captain Finnegan Leighton, but please, call me Mr. Leighton or Finn! I prefer less formal, we're all friends here. Aside from being a scout, I'm also a gardener, counselor, and sometimes healer. If you guys want to mention jobs, college majors or ambitions, go right ahead! Fun facts about me, aside from that I'm a workaholic, is that I love bike riding and radio shows. My greatest weaknesses include not understanding how social media websites work, but that's okay, because I can use being old as an excuse."
He stepped a little outside, taking off one of his gloves. "Now, don't be alarmed. I'm going to prick my finger." He took a needle from his coat pocket and lightly did so. Instead of a tiny speck of red appearing, a lovely flower sprung up, bold and strong, even in the cold weather. He picked the flower, tucking it behind his ear, and put the glove back on, smiling. "My powers are based around plant necromancy, a fascinating mix of death and life that I find more beautiful than morbid. If you have any questions, do go ahead and ask! Now, why don't you all show and tell me about yours? I'm very much looking forward to it."
